And this is why all Dean ever wants is for John and Sam to not fight around him for once. Awesome Dean perspective, it's basically spot on for the guy.

Author's Response:

Hi grlkat!

OMG I'm groveling on my knees, I'm so sorry I must have missed this review!

Thank you for saying that Dean in this fic is spot on. That's one of the best compliments that a fanfic writter can get, a reader letting her/him know that they got a character 'correct', so to speak.

Thanks for reading, and again for leaving a review! :)

Hi Lyn,What an amazing touching tale. I can absolutely see Dean being forged by many of these heartbreaking defeats that leave him totally dedicated to his job of "looking after Sammy". This is a very believable version of what life must have been like growing up Winchester. I totally bought your portrayal of John - sadly, hunter first and Father second. The image of Sammy even at two years old not settling for John but demanding Dean was a great foreshadowing of their relationship. Loved the innocence you were able to capture in young Sammy. Dean just tore out my heart - wonderful writing -truly in need of a tissue now!!!Thanks for the read.Abi.

Author's Response:

Heya Abi

*hands you a Kleenex* Thank you for the wonderful review. I love that you totally bought my portrayal of John. I really think that he's not bad a father but that he's always thinking about the big picture and not the details that are so important to kids.

And yes, i think that Sammy, even when young, would be more inclined towards Dean rather than John, simply for the fact that Dean is with him more than his own father. And Dean. Well. I always thought that the soldier-ly side of him develops early, so yeah, this might just be one of those things which form the foudation of his tenet in life.

Thanks for reading! :)

Lyn & Andi,

I'm so in love with this story even though it breaks my heart to read, I really admire you for writing in second person and pulling it off. Written so strong and beautifully, I loved your Sam and Dean, and even John. I definitely think you've done well and shown us the beginning of John being more of a hunter than a father.

YOU ROCK! <3

Schelz & Clo

Author's Response:

Schelz and Clo!

YOU ROCK TOO!!! Thanks so much for looking over it, and offering suggestions and stuff.  Me and Andi would never have done it without you.

And yeah, i think John is first and foremost a hunter, and a father second. Although i think that when push comes to shove, he would still find a way to save his sons - look at IMTOD.

Thanks for reading! *hugz*

Well for one I thought its must be Christmas or something like that. I never thought that it would be Dean's Birthday. A BIG surprise though... Bad that Dean cannot celebrate his B-day :(

Very well written!!!

Pranami :)

Author's Response:

Hi Pranami

Oh great, you can't guess it was Dean's birthday! So i must succeeded in some small way to make some people guess. *evil laugh*

Thanks for reading! :)

But I didn't want it to be the end! And I haven't typed those words in... a long time.

This was such a fascinating read, so intense it sucked me in. Loved it.

Author's Response:

Heya Souxie

That is one of the greatest compliments that an author can get! I'm not sure about a continuation, cuz it was never intended to have a happy ending! *evil laugh*

Was in an angsty mood when i wrote this, so yeah...

Thanks for reading and reviewing! :)

I had a bad feeling that the "special day" was Dean's birthday, and John would forget and punish Dean for his taking of the cookies. I just wanted to cry for Dean here. I'm sure this is just the beginning of crappy birthdays for Dean. I just wanted to smack John upside the head. Looking forward to more.

Author's Response:

Hi Moira..

Did you sneek in a peek in my comp's hard drive? LOL Yeah i'm trying to make people guess what the special day is, but not sure how successful i can be.

I'm sure this is just the beginning of crappy birthdays for Dean.

I'm sure that Dean had a lot of crappy birthdays, and it might start early. I love John dearly, but he's a more of a big picture kind of person when it comes to his family, so yeah, details might escape him.

Thanks for reading! And i made you cry! *hands Kleenex* :)

Oh, you can't just end it there. You have to fix it, where John remembers. This is too sad this way!

Author's Response:

Hi Anna..

Unfortunately, it was written in an emotional moment, so yeah, it ends that way. Might be open to a continuation, although, erm, don't hold your breath! :)

And writing in John's POV is slightly more difficult for me than say, Sam or Dean. It was daunting when i tried it for this fic. This is the first time ever that i tried writing John's POV for a longer period.

Thanks for reading!
