“I refuse to die.” Dean hissed, anger flashing through his eyes. He pulled away from Sam and readjusted the knife, bring his arm back up. “But I refuse to live like this and I refuse to live without Sammy!” One quick movement and he was down on his knees, dagger forced down into the ground in front of him. His eyes were full of rage, pain, bloodlust, hope, hate and love as he looked up at Sam and bared his teeth almost threateningly, “Sammy, you need to get this bastard out of my head.” Sorry, I just had to quote all of that because I thought it was wonderful. It was redemptive and courageous and brotherly, but it wasn't schmoopy at all. Great stuff, well done!

Hey, very clever .... it's something to do with Dean's birth? I didn't see that coming at all. Loved the conversation between the boys when Bobby left the room - too funny.
Author's Response: The whole birth thing - I wish I could say that I had it all planned out when I first started the story but I can't, the story sort of sped off in it's own direction about the same time that Dean was branded and I know it's terrible but whenever I finish a chapter, I never really truly know what's gonna happen next. I'm just glad it works out. And thank you!

Great end to the chapter, you are moving the story along very well. Loved this line: Dean moaned, not exactly wanting to say ‘it’s a voice inside my head that I’m pretty sure took over my body and made me want to kill you’ because somehow he just couldn’t see Sam being comforted by that. That's very true-to-type. Dean is protective of his brother no matter WHAT his current situation might be. Such a hero. *sigh*

Author's Response: When I originally planned this chapter and the next couple of chapters - there never was a Christo. Dean went to the hospital and Bobby came while he was recovering but somehow whilst writing this chapter he got kidnapped and the nurse seeing to Sammy ended up being possessed - I have no idea what happened to my plan!

yes...good place to end, rae, just not llloonnnngggg enough......Nex is a real pain and needs to be extracted like a really evil, festered sliver of glass.............please let Bobby have an answer for this mess when he gets back with the boys......don't leave poor Dean twisting in the wind too much longer.
