Keep up the good work! Another incredible chapter!

Will we get to find out the whole story about Watts? Yay! I knew Dean was going to toughen up again yet I'm kind of sad that it happened already. I sort of like the cuddly Dean.
Author's Response: I thought about sharing Jeff's story but I decided it would detract from the plot I've got going here. So, instead I'm going to tell his story in a companion piece.

Exquisite!!! The way you describe Sam's feelings about his brother---his concern, his knowledge of him is beautiful! Then you switch to Dean knowing he should be strong yet wanting to be cared for once in his life. And their need to be together, console the other, comfort themselves is sublime.

Interesting and descriptive pharases! "an ocean of custard" says it all, helps us understand the slow-motion, labor of reaching one's desired destination. I love that Dean thought he was dead and in heaven because of the cleanliness then decides it's hell because Sam isn't there.
Author's Response: I was trying to decide what would be the worst thing for Dean, what would truly make somewhere hell for him and, well, it had to be a lack of Sam. Glad you like the custard too :)

Yay! Sam to the rescue! Explaining Dean's condition and state of mind from his point of view is great! It's like I'm actually in his head.
Author's Response: That's exactly what I was aiming for. I spent a lot of time in there myself!

Incredible! And you still haven't told us who Jefferson Watts is! You are the mistress of torture. First Dean now me.
Author's Response: LOL - I have to keep you coming back somehow!

Ughhh! But I don't know that name! What is it?! "And as he hears the hammer fall, all Dean can think is Sam’s too late." That is such a simple statement and yet profoundly emotional. You have a great gift for conveying thoughts and feelings with expressions and body language. Fantastic!
Author's Response: No, you wouldn't know that name because Jeff is all mine. Thank you so much for your reviews - I really appreciate them.

Cant they just catch a little break???? poor guys!!!! It was sooo tender how Sam wants to protect Dean- he's sooo worried about him but he knows they just cant stay there- its tooo dangerous with the law soon to be after them. He knows Dean is still sooo fragile- and he wants to shelter him- and yet he also knows that the Impala is like a mobile sheild too... My breath hitched when Dean hit the doorway... I could feel his panic- his hesitation... his security being ripped away... but then he was in the Impala and the world was right again- and I could feel the relief wash over him like a cool breeze on a steamy day. And really- is there anything more encouraging than seeing the familiar gates of Singer Salvage looming ahead???? I dont know how much you have left- but I'm hoping for some serious healing and comfort ahead at Bobby's....
Author's Response: There isn't much left to this one (3 chps). Dean's doing well so far, but it's easy to heal people in one chapter. Thing is, that's not very realistic, is it? My boys take longer to fix when I break them ^_^

Fabulous chapter! I just realized there's no dialogue in it. Great technique! I'm glad Sam and Bobby have a lead. Poor Dean is going through all sorts of torture. I can't wait to find out why!
Author's Response: That's great if you get this far without missing dialogue. I'm kinda 'all or nothing' when it comes to speach and this one went down the nothing route. I think sometimes it's best left to the reader's imagination.

Rats! Not rats! Anything but rats! Ewww! They're disgusting, disease infected, flea ridden little vermin. Just the thought of being alone in the dark with rats has me losing my mind. I'm glad it's Dean and not me. Great writing style! I love that you let us know everything the characters are feeling and thinking. It seems to flow very easily from you (although I know you must have worked hard) which I feel is the hallmark of a talented writer.
Author's Response: I did work hard on this, but once I get going... Thank you ^_^

Two really good chapters, this story just keeps getting better, loved the last line about Bobby's being home.
Author's Response: Thank you - Bobby's place is really the only stable environment the boys have known so it made sense to me that that's where 'home' would be for them.

Great! You were very discreet about revealing the who (or should I say what?) has attacked Dean. I'm intrigued!
Author's Response: Hopefully everything is quite subtle in this one. I'm not one for 'in your face' solutions.

Wow! Way to begin in the middle of the action! I don't know what happened but I'm so relieved that Sam's found Dean. I love it when he tells Dean: "I'll always come for you, Dean. It's what we do." Awwww.
Author's Response: Thanks Shannon. This actually started life as a one shot that wouldn't leave me alone. I never intended to go beyond one chapter but the story had other ideas!

Ah, Dean has some spirit back! I'm glad to see it, even if he's not up to full steam.
Author's Response: He's getting there - slowly but surely. These things can't be rushed.

I just love that last sentence... it holds sooo much promise and hope for both of them really.... it so beautifully sums up the brothers.. that no matter how horrible the situation- together they'll get through it- things will be better... Also- a nice glimpse of Dean trying to get back to being Dean again- but the dripping tap thwarting all that effort... I also loved that Sam wasnt 'really' asleep- like a protective parent- he's got one eye cracked open as he tries to let his brother gain some semblance of normality again- but is there just in case... I really love this story...
Author's Response: Aw, shucks. Thank you so much. And a feature too! Four more chapters to go :)

Yikes! Sounds like both boys are on the edge. Bobby had better be ready to hold on! I'm really looking forward to the next part.
Author's Response: Thank you - they've a little way to go yet :)

arrggggghhhh... this anticipation is just killing me... I'm soooo tempted to go over to ffnet to see how this plays out- but I'm trying to be good and not spoiled... but the agony of the telling is just driving me nuts... Sam soo tired and reluctant and trying to spare Dean any more pain. Bobby- trying so hard to protect them both and knowing how its just not gonna happen and its gonna b ugly and messy when one or both of them just falls apart.. and Dean... I can just see and hear the disbelief playing out - after everything thats happened to him- this was just too much a shock... and he's reliviging not only the nightmare of his captivity but now also the nightmare of his past... gah... I need a valium here... lol -
Author's Response: Resist the temptation! I don't want you to be spoiled. *passes over a variety of tranquilisers*

Poor Dean- I hope things turn out okay!
Author's Response: Hmm - I could tell you, but that would spoil the end of the story :)

Great chapter, i'm really looking forward to finding out about this Jefferson Watts.
Author's Response: Thank you. You'll get a little bit about Jeff in this story, but not much. I don't want to detract from the main focus of this one so there will be a companion piece eventually.

I CANNOT wait to hear about Jefferson Watts... I'm sooo totally addicted to Bobby in this story,.... his knowing 'fatherly" ways are a sad reminder of what the boys so seldom had in their own dad.. I can just picture in my head all of Bobby's careful glances, the sadness he cant keep from his eyes as he looks over Dean and Sam and knows how totally messed up these boys are. Also loving Sam's calm reassurance... his gentle touch, soothing voice- he knows his brother soooo well - knows what makes him tick and knows that when something has gone sooo horribly wrong as this has- what to do to protect and care for Dean. I'm already becoming depressed knowing that this story will be ending soon.. oh and sorry- please dont think me making fun- but I DID laugh at He's not daft enough to suppose Dean is ready for burgers - Your British is showing - :) lol
Author's Response: Is 'daft' not commonly used in America then? lol As for Jefferson? I decided that to tell his story would take away the focus of this story so he's getting a companion piece all of his own. I've already made a start on it but you'll have to wait a little longer for that. Sorry.

Well, I do believe Dean believes he is safe now, and I'm also glad that he knows where he is and who Sam is. It was great that Dean was able to let Sam take care of him, and be his rock for a change. Bobby is a smart man, he knows when to back away and let the brothers reconnect. I'm looking forward to more!
Author's Response: Thank you. I have great faith in Bobby - he always knows what to do!

This was a beautiful chapter, the brotherly moments were lovely.
Author's Response: Thank you - I love writing the brothers together. They always seem more complete when they're together.

The way you write Sam and Bobby is soooo incredibly spot-on... I can picture Bobby pacing as he waits for Sam to arrive- can picture Sam driving like he has the hounds of hell on his tail but stealing glances at Dean - worried in that pensive-Sammy way... Sam's shock and reaction to Dean's wounds but knowing that the REAL wounds are the ones he cant see- that was perfect! As always - Well done!
Author's Response: Thank you. If anyone knows Dean, it's Sam. And we know it's going to take some gentle persuasion to get him to share ^_^ So pleased you're enjoying this one.

Great chapter, i'm glad that Dean's back safe with Sam and Bobby, and like Sam says he needs to share but thats never easy with Dean.
Author's Response: Thank you - Dean will share, eventually. Don't want to rush things now do we?
