Yes, it had been. I think if not for the two little boys, John would have gone completely off the rails and probably gotten killed acting recklessly on a hunt. And he was right - Dean's loyalty and love was diamond-hard....but even diamonds can eventually shatter, and unfortunately, Dean's unshakable loyalty has taken a few blows since John's been gone. Nevertheless, at that time it was shining bright - his dad was his hero. Jules

How sweet! Having the love of your child is the most precious gift. I'm sure that with all John has lost, Dean's love was his rock.

Heartbreaking!! So beautiful and so sad. Amazing job.
Author's Response: Hey there, Rae! Thanks so much for coming over to check out my Father's Day drabble. I really appreciate the terrific review you left! If you like drabbles, I have a couple others up you might enjoy. One is a wee!Chester story, mainly schmoop, LOL. It's called "Big Brother to the Rescue." The other is an action/adventure hurt/comfort story where Dean is taken and injured. It's told in a series of drabbles, one/week. It's called "Not So Drunk as You Think I Am." If you decide to check either out, I'd love to hear what you think! :) Thanks again for the wonderful feedback. I always love to hear from you!

That's a lot in a hundred words. The line "Yet one thing remained" just kills me. Very well done.
Author's Response: Hey there! Thanks so much for the review you left for my Father's Day drabble. I really appreciate it! I'm glad you liked the line you mentioned, it was one of my favorites. If you liked this, you might enjoy my story "Parenting Your Gifted Child." It's where we first see the Father's Day card mentioned. If you check it out, I'd love to hear what you think! :) Thanks again for taking the time to read and review!

I can feel the waxy crayon under my fingers. Brilliant. So Dean's gone from a lump of coal to a diamond geezer? Nice. :)
Author's Response: Hey there! Thanks for coming over to check out my Father's Day drabble, I really appreciate the great review and rating you left. I'm so glad you liked this one, and that the tactile crayon detail came through. That's just what I was going for. I just recently started drabbling. If you're interested in my other efforts, check out my fic "Not So Drunk as You Think I Am." I'd love to hear what you think! :) Thanks again for taking the time to read and review!

Wow, this little zinger packs a ton of emotion into 100 words. Love your diamond analogy, wish I'd used it somewhere.;-) Sue

Yes, Dean would stop John from falling apart, supporting his father and watching out for Sammy as always, nice one Jacq
Author's Response: Hey there, Jacq! Thanks for the great review and rating you left for my drabble, I really appreciate it! I do think Dean played a really important role in keeping their family together, keeping John together, and looking out for Sammy, after the fire. I've written a couple of fics that deal with that. I'm so glad you liked this one. I liked the point you raised in your drabble, too, about Dean being more of a dad to Sam than John was. I actually wrote a whole story based on that idea called "Parenting Your Gifted Child." I've re-visited the idea a couple of times in fics. I really think it's true and I'm glad you had Sam realize it, too. Thanks again for the great review!

Wonderful! It's true, Dean worshipped his Dad, and John had to have known it, and cherished it. Good one!

Amazing stuff - you make this look easy... after having just tried drabbling (Ahem!) out, I know that just makes you a very talented writer!!! Very powerful (and for me accurate) imagery of the world chipping it's teeth against Dean's loyalty and devotion to his family. Just Great Work.
Author's Response: Hey there! Thank you for the wonderful rating and review you left for my Father's Day drabble. I really appreciate it! I'm so glad you liked the imagery, I spent a lot of time trying to get it right. Yeah, I've just recently started drabbling too. It is really hard! If you want to check out my other efforts, take a look at "Not So Drunk as You Think I Am," "Big Brother to the Rescue" and "Always With You." I'd love to hear what you think! :) Thanks again, your lovely review made my day!

Very, very nice. This touched even my post Jump the Shark, Grinch-like John-hatin' heart.
Author's Response: Hey there, Ness! Thanks for coming over to check out my drabble. I appreciate the kind words! Yeah, I prefer to wipe all traces of the episode you mention from my mind. I think it was out of character for John, and have so many issues with it, and grouchiness over it, that I just pretend it never happened. LOL Works for me! ;) Hey, I posted that humor fic one-shot I was telling you about if you want to check it out. It's called "The Power of Suggestion." I'd love to hear what you think! :) Thanks again, Ness. The kind words mean a lot.
