This drabble is just soaked in atmosphere and deliberate word choices such as "the red words dripping to stain his fingers" which just begs to be compared to blood (red, dripping, stain). The way I picture this, John comes home late after a Father's Day weekend hunt -- but he's late bec he spent at least part of the day with Adam. Sue
Author's Response: Thank you so much, Sue! You completely, 100% understood the meaning of this drabble! I appreciate you taking the time to send a review! <3

Awww! Heartbreaking Jenn! I can see that happening, poor broken Winchesters.
Author's Response: Thank you Rae!! Maybe we should comfort said poor broken Winchesters ;) <3

How sweet of them to leave the card out for him. And I rather do think John was quite sentimental. Lovely little drabble, Jenn - I like it!
Author's Response: Thank you very much, I tend to think John had a bit of a soft side as well!

Oh, this was so sad, and made me think of the episode I try never to remember. This was especially powerful: "Blood red words in child's handwriting, heartfelt and untrue, scorching him." *sniffle* Well written! And heartbreaking. Nice job. (BTW--I think we met in chat last week, it was nice talking to you!)
Author's Response: We did meet last week, and it was very nice talking to you too! I really appreciate you taking the time out to leave a review on this, especially when you took out a sentence you liked and let me know it. That makes me so excited! (especially since it was also my own favorite line!) Thank you for reviewing, bhoney, and I hope to talk to you again soon! <3

Heart breaking 'heartfelt and untrue' that episode with Adam broke my heart, and I remember thinking that John didn't deserve Sam and Dean, because they didn't deserve to be lied to... But a moment like this, a moment of utter guilt tears me apart, and it reminds me why I love John. He loved Sam and Dean more than anything, this just shows that he made mistakes, like most parents do. His mistake was to die without telling them they had a brother... Thanks for sharing x
Author's Response: Thank you so much, Schelz. I <3 you a ridiculous amount <3<3<3

Love how you managed to convey the power of children's innocence even in the Winchester world.
Author's Response: Thank you Dottyoz. I'm glad you thought so. <3

It's so sad! I feel for John, because I do honestly believe he tried to do what he could to make the best of a horrible situation. I think he can't help but feel guilty for the consequences of his actions. Great job!
Author's Response: We feel the same way about John then, Primrose! Thanks for reviewing! <3
