That creaking is an effective tension builder. Also love that you repeat Dean's experience from the previous chapter at the end of the current chapter. Like bits and pieces are returning to him.

Author's Response: Thanks! I love putting Dean in that spotlight... as you've probably noticed I'm really really bad for it... poor Sam gets pushed out a lot. But I love him too... just not as much as Dean.

Great ending. Loved the way you brought in Sam's shooting at the monster from the closet and Bobby's knowing that Dean would feel guilty. Sam's words were right on to try to make Dean know that he had done his best and faced some pretty scary internal "demons".
Author's Response: Thank you! The encounter in 1992 was gonna be a whole 'nother part of the story but I decided it just didn't fit anywhere but I had to mention it briefly. I hate internal 'demons' and I think both brothers have more than most can cope with, but they got each other to lend a helping hand. Anyway - Thank you again! And I'm glad you liked it!

And I love Bobby, because you had him say something that really should be said to Dean, and recognised by Sam: “And Sam…” Bobby’s voice was barely audible, “I know what he’s like. Make sure he doesn’t go on one of those stupid guilt trips. If he hadn’t played the stupid dumbass hero, that kid would be dead and probably more with him.” “I know.” Sam smiled. “Make sure he does too.” And Sam said he was proud of Dean! I love you for that! Thanks for such a great ride.

Awesome story! I've enjoyed every chapter. You did a great job shifting back and forth between the present and the past; I really loved the parallel story lines. And yeah, my closet door's got to be shut too!

Great handling of the flash backs again, and I love it that Sam wants to kill Dean for putting himself in danger - it shows that he cares! Besides, it's funny. And I love it that Dean was a big damn self-sacrificing hero .... even as a 9 year old!

Awesome as usual Rae. I loved the action, loved that you brought 1988 and the present together so seemlessly. I also loved the line " ... I'm the thing the Boogeyman wishes it was!" Thats downright chilling. Nice job!
Author's Response: Thank you! I love doing the flashbacks, they're so different and fun to play with. That's why I like writing, you get to play with all kinds of things. I dunno where that line came from... which I think makes it even worse because my fingers just kept typing and it came out. Glad you liked it though, I'll have to thank that creepy muse of mine. Soooo happy you didn't split it - more for me! But so sad that there's only one more to go! And Yeah! Scary closet monster is dead! Love how you have strung this out (and me along with it!).
