Since Uriel wanted Lucifer to rise, and Sam was needed for that to happen, this wouldn't necessary be an AU if you thought about it that way.  I think Uriel did a lot of things that misled Castiel (and the audience) until the episode where he was killing angels that wouldn't switch sides. This could have been one of those things (waiting until Castiel asked him to help Sam).  Great story by the way.

Hey Titch!

Interesting take on Uriel...you had him pegged here as a much kinder character than he turned out to be. Maybe you are more attuned with better behaved angels!
