I'm beginning to think the same - that the whole hunt is a trap. Trust the boys to realise they're being tailed - hunter's instincts. Great picture painted of the brothers' opposing viewpoints - Dean reckless, Sam anxious and brooding. Loved the little talk near the end, with Sam trying to make Dean see that he worries and cares just as much. And I could see Dean having nightmares about Cold Oak. A part of him died too, on that dark, muddy road. I'm thinking that the trap isn't going to go well..... Jules

Dean. That's the only word that fits all the criteria. The demon itself cinched it when it asked Sam to choose mother, father, best friend. Because his brother is all of that to Sam and more. But I'm curious as to how they got to this point, and what the wager was that Sam won. Am thinking too, that despite the demon assuring Sam that he's bound to honour the terms, he won't be very happy with Sam's answer. Jules

Yayy! I'm glad you started up again. Life is not allowed to explode on you anymore. Chapter two does a great job of setting up where Dean and Sam were in season three-Dean willing to take risks and die early, because who really cares, and Sam gettin desperate. I always thought Sam needed to knock some sense into Dean a few times when he did stuff like that. Great job!

Waah! I wanted to hear Sam say "Dean!" loud and clear, the only choice he can make, but you--you backed up the story to the beginning of the hinky hunt. I don't think I've ever heard Dean use that word in the series, he must watch NCIS, yes? (vbg) And I can't believe that Sam didn't mention the sulphur traces on the Impala earlier, he has to've known that that's info that Dean needs to know. Hoping you'll post more soon! Sue

DEAN! It has to be, the demon just described him and what he means to Sam in all the images! God, I really needed some brotherly moments after this season's last episodes... Fantastic beginning, I am hopelessly hooked and waiting for more, awesome first chapter.

Whoa Beth, Way to start out with a bang! Toss out an opening scene like that and you've hooked me but good. I think the demon talked too much, he would've had a better chance just showing Sam the images of his other loved ones. Because all his words described different facets of Dean, and Sammy's smart enough to know that. Can't wait for the next part! Sue

Let me guess: "Dean"? Because Dean is SO all of those things for Sam! While the demon was tempting Sam with, "don't you want someone who will be your best friend?" and "don't you want someone who will love you unconditionally?" my mind was screaming, "That's Dean you butthole!" Excellent start to this! Can't wait to see what's going to happen when Sam announces his choice.
