Flirty Dean and Layla on one side and the "crankypants" Sam and Isabel on the other were a sight and joy to see, some much needed lightness in the midst of this mess. There is however without doubt reason to be on high alert as the gas explosion so tragically showed. Seems the final round has begun. Totally agree Fred is a much bigger problem than the demons, "Pyro, Sam offered./Witch, Layla added./Crazy, Sam said./She will sacrifice anything, Isabel said quietly...it's personal now." And very frightening!

Author's Response:

Again, many thanks for reading & I'm glad you're enjoying it!

Sorry I took so long to respond! The baby got the chicken pox in time for her first birthday! She was a spotty, pitiful mess but doing much better.

I hope to finish posting soon but I"m contemplating a change or two at the end. We'll see....

So sorry for being this late again, RL is a bitch these days.

As much as I loved Sam and Dean are together again and it definitely felt good to see them - at least for some time - so at ease with each other ("Sometimes, his brother didn't seem changed at all by whatever horrible things had happened to him. Sometimes Sam could just relax into the convenient routine and forget.") and also more than enjoyed their Joss Whedon comments (and yes he is a genius, loved his Firefly and Buffy, you should give it a try), the end did not bode well for them with Fred's "...the Boy King must live. He hasn't fulfilled his destiny yet,...the Lazarus Man will stop the Ascension, stop the fire" and what it implies for Sam and Dean - "Then you know which one to bring me". A scary prospect once again another great chapter! It only was Sam's absolute determination to make those pay who hurt Dean in hell that calmed me a bit here, he definitely will be on guard!

Sorry I'm so late with this, but my work hours are totally crazy these days...

Grew very fond of Layla and found it very touching how much she struggles with her power and what it can do to others, great woman and I actually was waiting for Dean and her to end the flirting, definitely a good thing!

My favorite part however was when Dean was thinking about Sam and I have to quote, it so perfectly tells what these brothers mean to each other: "He'd gone three years hunting alone, or mostly so, when Sam had gone off to Stanford and had done fine, thanks, without his father fondling him; but these few days without Sam left a weird itch." Special!

Author's Response:

The time was right to end the flirting, wasn't it? ;o)

And Dean definately feels incomplete without Sam.

Thanks for reading!

So, here I am and again, I'm so glad you're back with this story; I didn't even need to reread any parts, still very much aware what happened and this should tell you how much I like it!

It feels like Sam and Isabel are getting along better, their truce seems to last (still worry about Sam though, it's such a difference compared to Dean and Layla), but when this force hit them and Isabel's eyes changed to "dark expanses littered with glittering diamonds, endless and terribly vast" and later when Layla's did too (hers however "the pure silver of an untarnished blade, of the full moon" and we saw what power was behind this, it became pretty clear time is running out now. The evil is closing in on them.

Fred's talk with Dean (and what a great scene this was), so taunting and seductive in such a horrible way, sure gave us an impression of what lies ahead and I just hope the brothers will face it together!

Looking forward to the next chappie and I hope life with your four little ones is good!!! Take care!

Author's Response:

Again, thanks so much for sticking with the story. It took me forever to work up the nerve to post it so I'm glad someone is enjoying it.

Delighted to see another update!

As much as I give Isabel credit for struggling with her orders and actually really liked her for her reaction to Sam's question what his chances are to be redeemed (it was more serious than he let on I think), I still was worried for Sam here, really was glad when he called Dean to tell him they landed safe.

Dean's trip with Layla on the other hand was fun, what a pair! A much needed breather but it's over now I'm afraid, can't wait to see what they have to face!

Author's Response:

I thought it was important for Belle to keep the core of her faith. She'll be alright. And I love having Dean & Layla harass each other!  Too much fun!

Thanks for reading!

I know it is necessary Sam and Dean part ways for a while but I hated Sam had to go with Isabel (who is more than a bit unstable and obviously struggling hard with her role, this could be very dangerous for Sam) and Dean certainly is concerned too as his goodbye clearly showed. It's going to be an interesting journey for both pairs and I can't wait to see what happens. Loved Dean's little eavesdropping on the sisters, very creative! As always loved the update, thank you!!!

Author's Response:

You've given me some ideas...

THanks for reading!

Oh wow, you sure came back with a breathtaking chapter, fantastic one! The way you connected Dean's and Sam's destiny with Jesus (a hunter!) and Judas (and how much this must have hurt Sam) was just stunning, a fascinating thought! And pure joy to see Castiel deliver the message in his unique style - still have a very bad feeling about Isabel though and I'm afraid she will evoke serious problems for the brothers before this ends (I don't trust her, can't escape the feeling). Extra thanks for this wonderful Dean quote, "You don't wanna see me polling the electorate." It's from The Magnificent Seven if I remember rightly, loved it. Thanks so much.

And again - warmest congratulations and best wishes to you and your new baby (girl or boy?)! Sabine

Author's Response:

Yes, from "The Magnificent Seven" & I had to use it!

We had another girl, bringing the grand total to four!

Thanks!

So wonderful you're back and what a marvellous chapter! Just wished Sam and Dean could stay together and like Dean I'm worried Sam is willing to go with Isabel (still don't trust her - Dean is right "People are crazy"), very touching though to see how Dean fears for his little brother - "...the anger was loud in his face. And just behind, because Sam knew where to look, was the hidden fear." So enjoyed when Sam told Isabel, "just because whe make light of a situation...doesn't mean we take it lightly." Very cool" Hard times for the brothers ahead I'm afraid, can't wait to read about it!

Author's Response:

Thanks for your patience.

Niether of the boys quite trust Isabel yet but she's not a bad person.  Just...devoted, I guess you could say.

Yeah, I like that line, too, and had to wait for the right place to use it.  It kinda fits their attitudes, I thought-especially Dean's.

Kristen,

another great chapter. glad you posted.

like the girls with the boys.

hope next chapter will be soon.

Thanks for reading and for hanging in there.

I'm gonna try and get back on a weekly posting schedule. Still working on this story but will hopefully not have any more delays.

Reunited and it feels so good! That's the perfect statement for this chapter, couldn't agree more!!! A very lovely brother scene at the park - Why did he bother hoping for anything resembling safety and comfort? Sam engulfed him in those freakishly long arms and pounded his back. "Dean!" That's why. Exactly!!! And I'm also very glad Dean was so furious and concerned about the way Isabel threatened his little brother, very Dean. Wished they could stay together, feels much safer. Great update!!

Reviewer: bia1007 (Signed) · Date: 29/06/09 01:10 PM · On: Swords of a Soldier, Weapons of War

Be sure this waiting time is agony for Sam, it is for me - but still I love to see Dean and Layla together and how they interact, these two are quite a pair! Again a great chess dream scene, focussing on Dean's fears, doubts and the final battle and as frightening the image of the chess Sam was, Dean didn't give in, his "Help me...Sam..." an incredibly moving prove of his love and trust to the end. Loved the chapter, but now I really need to see Sam's and Dean's reunion, PLEASE!

Author's Response:

Patience, my dear.  This accidental separation is only temporary but I'm glad it had it's intended effect!

Reviewer: bia1007 (Signed) · Date: 11/06/09 12:40 PM · On: A Man With Too Many Faces

Feel immensly worried our four couldn't regroup yet and while I'm warming a bit to Isabel all in all I really hold against her she didn't tell Sam that Layla could heal Dean, I'm not buying she thought Sam knew, he obviously was worried sick about his brother and to notice but not give him this ease that's just a cruel thing to do! But she definitely has been through a lot and maybe she's refusing Sam so much because of what happened to her brother; what we heard so far about Joshua sounds a lot like Sam, a gentle soul, well we'll see. Highly fascinating chap and I can't wait for the next one!

Author's Response:

Though what had happened to their brother was similar to Sam, I wanted to make the sisters' reactions to it different. At first, I thought Sam & Isabel might hit it off but the character just went off in a different direction.

Thanks for reading!

This healing scenes is one of the most beautiful ones I've ever read, the chapter feels like the heart of the whole story, really hit me, literally stealing my breath!!

"WILL YOU SAVE HIM? - Always - WILL YOU SACRIFICE YOURSELF? - I already have. I'd do it again", just one of many special lines I won't forget.

Love this story so much and connected with Rob Thomas's (amazing voice) All That I Am it's perfection - And I breathe so you breathe/Let me stand so you'll stand/With all that I am!!!!!!!! Thank you!

Author's Response:

No, thank you!  That scene was what started the whole thing so I wanted to get it just right.

Rob Thomas' song is just amazing, isn't it? I think of the Winchesters when I hear it. Which may be kinda silly but I can't help it!

Reviewer: bia1007 (Signed) · Date: 09/05/09 01:54 PM · On: Smoke on the Water, FIre in the Sky

Knew I would love this and I so did!! A powerful beginning - and what a delight it was another chess dream ("you would not be allowed to refuse. I am sorry, Dean, but there is no other way", brutal!) - which again throws us right in the middle of this fantastic story! To witness Dean's excruciating pain was really scaring (and vivid) as his need for Sam was touching ("Not...without...Sammy", yes always); it's comforting though that Layla is at his side, absolutely trust her, also she can help and Dean now needs every bit of strength and support he can get to stand the coming ordeal and to save Sam (what will be a major issue I think! Great work!!!

Oh wow, all excited to see you continue the series !!! Just a note to tell you I will be back this weekend with a detailed review, I work overtime this week but I'm so looking forward to read the first chapters. See you!

Thanks for sticking with me! I appreciate it. And I understand about working long hours; half my week is spent doing that!

I will be posting a bit slower this go-around since I'm still working on it.
