Yipee! Hooray! Thank heavens! Finally Sam has worked out both bits of the puzzle. Dean is still alive and that Ruby is a bitch. A bitch that is a witch at that! Well done Sam on both counts. Now I want to see him threaten to destroy Ruby with his demon whatknot so she'll fix Dean. Then I hope he does his full demon whatknot on her! Not that I'm feeling vindictive or anything!

Bobby to the rescue! Yea! I knew he'd save the day. And danged if I don't hate Ruby even more. Well written, great pacing. And to tell this from the point of view of someone who can't do or say anything, well done. Its a style that some TV shows have tried lately to varying success but you do it very well in this story. The temptation to take this from Dean and put it in Sam's POV must be overwhelming. I could go on and gush but I think I've made my point. Thanks for a great read, I'm looking forward to the rest.
Author's Response: I have to admit that the temptation to shift pov *is* overwhelming. And I very nearly did, after the first two or three chapters. Simply for the reason that sticking with one perspective, and being unable to write any gestures, expressions or movements to underline what is being said or thought is a lot harder than I thought it would be. But I decided ot stick with it, and in the end I'm glad with how it came out, no matter the temptation. I'm thrilled beyond words that you like it so much, and that it seemingly came across the way I wanted it to. Thanks a lot for the great reviews, I really appreciate that you reviewed along as you read the single chapters.

Witnessing Sam's grief from Dean's point of view is just so heart-breakingly poignant. This is a beautifully written story, which has me totally enthralled. You have dealt with Dean's terror and pain yet managed to keep his trademark humour - which must be stretching to breaking point. I loved him feeling the minute warmth every time Sam is close, the fear when his eyes are closed. Now I'm wondering has Ruby left his eyes open a crack to torture him more or to ease his fear? I know she's a demon but I never thought she would allow Sam to remain in the dark over something like this! The B***h! lol Dean's awkwardness at Sam's questing hands was welcome light relief in the surrounding trauma. Very nicely done and perfectly in character. I have to thank you for this wonderful story, I am absolutely captivated by it and how you are going to get our boy out of this one...Well, at least Bobby's on the way. Somebody notice Dean's still in there!! Please! Thank you. Jane
Author's Response: Again, thank you. It's hard trying to keep a balance between angst and humour, especially since I don't consider myself a very good humour writer. But I guess without the small moments of relief the story would be far too depressing, lol. And yeah, Ruby is a bi*** in this one. I just couldn't help myself...

OMG, that was totally unputdownable! Whatever you do Sammy, don't saltnburn him this time. What a terrifying scenario for them both. Beautiful characterisation from Dean's POV, I loved the caterpillar being better than him being left alone. Dean's description of the CPR and final realisation of Sam's belief was breathtaking. Ok, that was so not what I was expecting Ruby to just talk when she left Dean's eyes slightly open but then I have a gutter for a brain! Bobby's final words offer a glimmer of hope, that someone other than Ruby will figure out that Dean is alive and fix him. Roll on the next update.

Sam's reaction killed me. God, his desperation... his PAIN, it was just so palpable! Brought tears to my eyes, really... And only minutes before I had been laughing about the caterpillar thing... and Dean's "anytime now, Sam"... and then Sammy actually finds him and here I am all emotional and teary-eyed... Loved it!
