I enjoyed reading this story, thanks for sharing it. How horrible for Dean to be paralysed in such away that he was still aware of everything that was going on around him and having to see and hear his little brother in his grief was very heartbreaking. I was so angry with Ruby, the way she knew what had happened to Dean and left him that way anyway. I never liked or trusted Ruby in the show, so you really brought out what I hated about Ruby with the way you wrote her. (Of I loved to hate Ruby) I think I could understand how angry Dean was feeling but also his hopelessness to be able to do anything. Very nice story. Gem :o) xxx
Author's Response: Thanks (once more). Ruby was actually the most fun to write in this story - like you, I really loved to hate her over the course of the last season, so figuring out in which ways she might try to deceive the brothers and put that into a story was simply fun.

Author's Response: Well, I personally like to think it's at least AU-ish because the big resolution between Sam and Dean that I couldn't go without in this story is something Kripke is still witholding from us. Fantastic. Brilliant. Oh yes Ruby is dead, hip hip hooray! Three cheers for Little Fairy. I loved this story, from the first moments of Sam's desperation when he thought Dean was dead, right through Dean's hilarious description of CPR to his steaming anger at Ruby, Sam and Bobby's and their plan to help him. And best of all was the final healing total honesty between the brothers. Absolutely brilliant.

I have been reading this at ff.net, but Im not a member there so couldn't review. Glad you posted here because I wanted to let you know how much I loved your story. It was completely compelling from the get go. I was gripped, desparately willing Sam to realise Dean was still alive. It was so moving seeing Sam's raw grief, and Deans fear and frustration. Loved how it all unfolded and led to the boys opening up to each other and finally killing Ruby. You are a great writer thanks for sharing - this is a story I know I will read many times!

Nice ending! The boys are getting it back together, Ruby is killed by both brothers (loved that in Lucifer Rising too), and things seem to be back to Winchester normal. Definitely held my attention throughout the whole story.

*sobs* Why? Why couldn't it have been this way in the real show? *sobs a little more* I love this so much... it's amazingly written, I can picture every scene perfectly, and the last one was just beautiful in a bittersweet heartbreaking way... Sam's "And each other" was the end of me, why couldn't they talk things through in the show? *curses Kripke* Anyway... awesome chapter, looking forward to the epilogue :)

"I have one suggestion for you, though." Dean said, his face muffled against Sam's collarbone. "The next time you're going all Baywatch on me with the CPR thing? Take a breath mint before you start. Just in case." Close on the best sentence of this whole brilliant story. You have Dean's speech so spot on I can picture every facial movement and hear his voice perfectly. Oh how I wish the TV series could achieve this level of honesty between the boys - or maybe they have (ep 18 tonight) but somehow I doubt it. Glad we still have more to come, I will miss this story when it's complete.

Wonderful chapter, so good to have some good news for a change. Love Bobby's comment "Give yourself whiplash in your eyes, why don't you..." so funny a wonderful antidote to all the angst of the last few chapters. I still want more though.

Oh, this is a nice, meaty chapter. Sam's big crapppy plan doesn't work out the way he wants it to, which big brother Dean knew all along. I was wondering how you'd handle the hunt, since the story so far has been steeped in Dean's pov. So we get Dean's perspective of the hunt: the endless waiting for it to be over (which I'm thinking is more like Sam's perspective from childhood). Love the Godzilla references, which of course bring up the Benders, and another time that Sam got in over his head and Dean was left frantically trying to find and save him. Sam did seem to gloss over Ruby's remark that Dean would be dead shortly, and then you ended with Sam's apparently failed hunt and Dean's descent into darkness....Yikes! and Fwoop! and where's the next chapter (and I'm screaming that as loudly as Dean's earlier mental screaming!) Sue
Author's Response: Lol, the next chapter should be up on Sunday. And I was indeed deliberating whether or not to stick with Dean's pov during the hunt, too - when the hunt was actually happening far away from him. But I think in the end (once you read chapter 6 and 7), it comes together nicely, though I'll let you all be the judges of that. Author's Response: This scene, or rather this chapter and Sam's revelation that Dean is in fact alive, was what indeed made me write that story. I wanted to write something that would force them to confront that underneath it all they still care so much about one another of course, but more than anything I wanted to write this scene where Sam finds Dean's heartbeat. And it was totally worth struggling through Dean's paralyzed pov, which wasn't always easy to write, for that chapter.

Wow, what an awesome couple of chapters. I was reading this last night--and I really shouldn't have been, since it was after midnight on a work night, but it was irresistible. I did find the willpower to quit here, but no time for a review. Gripping first chapter, and I recognized the KHK story immediately. Boy, do you get into Dean's head! Loved it. And I love the thud/fwoop chapter endings, too. SPN and NCIS tend to throw something big out there just before the commercial break -the actors on NCIS refer to this as the fwoop scene (mimicking the sound that accompanies the drama). Off to read more! Sue

And yeah, KHK's story is amazing, when I read it this idea was in my head and simply didn't want to go away. I was so thrilled that she had nothing at all against me writing it.

Oh my, what has happened? I'm guessing that Sam had a run in with the witch, probably killed her and expected Dean to be better, and he's not. I'm not sure that was wise of Sam - I love the way Dean threatening to have a long talk with both Sam and Bobby over their crappy planning.

Awesome... this filled a huge need I had to have Sam put Ruby in her place (even if this isnt show canon). It still felt good. I love the strain you've put Dean in- being able to hear but not interact- I could just see him seething at the chance to smack Ruby in the mouth. And now Sam's back and not in good shape- YIKES... Well done- cant wait till the next chapter.
