Absolutely,totally,completely,100%, amazing. You really outdid yourself this time. The emotions in the story and of your readers hit the entire range, from tears to pure joy and everything inbetween. The characters and settings are perfectly written so the reader gets lost in the story from start to end. I don't know why they get so-called "professional writers" in when we have talent like yours. Who better to write about our boys than someone who knows and loves them as much as we do. Here's to many, many more stories in the future.

I read this without realising its length and can only say it had my glued to the monitor from start to finish. I read it all in one afternoon and evening and was sad when I reached the end. In fact since then I've been back and reread most of it. I absolutely loved seeing Abe & co react to the boys without having any knowledge of their lives, and the flashbacks to their childhood were inspired. I will definitely be reading more of your work but will be paying attention to the word count in order to make the enjoyment last longer. Well done and thank you.
Author's Response: Midge -- thank you so much for this. This story is one of my favorites, and I have another plotted out that will return Abe to the brothers. I enjoyed writing him. This was also the first time I tried writing John's "voice" -- he's a hard character for me for purely personal angst reasons, so I had to... kinda ease into writing him. Start out with flashbacks and end with the epilogue. I hope that you do choose to read more of my stories, but I'll say that I tend to be rather wordy. All of my multi-chapter stories are lengthy as are my one-shots. I just have trouble doing "short" -- so I hope that doesn't deter you from reading in the future. Wow...GS...just catching up now. Holy shit! That was awesome!! I was sitting about an inch from my monitor the whole time, and though it took me a few days to fully read the whole thing, I really enjoyed it!! I would say "I couldn't put it down" but that wouldn't make a whole lot of sense...but it was like that. :) How you pulled me down into the thoughts of all three Winchesters (I loved the epilogue) was genius!! I thought their fight was over once Abe found them, but you had to put them to hell and back. Awesome work!! I'm kind of sad its over though...hmm...will have to search out more of your work. So glad I came on here to leave a little review or I wouldn't have caught the epilogue - and what a fabulous end to fabulous story! Loved every minute of it! I think you're probably right that the boys wouldn't be allowed to show that much emotion towards each other on the show... although who knows as we get to those last couple of season 2 eps? I really liked how you explored the boys' relationship here, the way they feel about each other. You were very even-handed. Often, it's either Sam Worship or Dean Worship, and it was nice to read a story where they're both shown to feel equally as protective and strongly about each other. Now, let's get on to the next one...

I absolutely adored this. I printed it off and read it from one end to the other curled up on my couch, my eyes literally eating the words off the page. It is on my list to reread and probably reread, reread and reread a little bit more :D There were so many moments of perfect brotherly affection. Both brothers' stubborn determination, the banter, the sacrifice....oh, I love the whole damn thing :D The thing that sticks in my mind at the moment is Dean following that travois.
