That was an excellent little oneshot, Hyde. I loved that John recalled meeting Dean in the past. I also loved how that one memory shaped his thoughts on sparing future Dean from heartache, but actually brought about the future he had visualized...not sure that even makes sense....lol!! anywho, awesome job. bambers;)

Wonderfuly thought provoking piece - you draw the threads together skillfully. Liked the mention of the New Orleans gig from the piolet - would that this WAS John's motivation for taking off.
From someone who has trouble finding a sympathethic reading of John - this really worked for me. I believed the tenderness of his emotions and the genuine misunderstandings that drove one son away and crushed the other.

I LOVE this- I always thought it would be ironic if John remembered Dean's little trip back at some other point in his life... some little comment or nuance... it can make the mind spin thinking about the alteration to the future since Dean went back.

Well done... you satisfied a little itch I've had since that eppy aired.
