Wonderful story. I knew right off, when you said the preacher was a carpenter where you were going with him.

Excellent idea! Full of grace -- literially!

 Sunsine my friend!

Author's Response:

Thanks, Karen,

I'm a firm believer in faith, even though my own's been severely rocked a number of times in my life. And with the mytharc of the show tending to go down that road of demons, there just had to be the God element to balance it off. And I had hoped that, like Sam, there was a higher power watching over the boys.

Thanks so much - so glad you loved it.

This piece is imaculate and I adored it very much. So, thank you.

Author's Response: Thank you so much. The subject matter is rather close to my heart, so I just let a little bit of my faith trickle into the Winchesters' world. Glad it worked out all right....Jules

I love it.  I like that Jesus is in the story comforting Dean.  Great story!

Author's Response: Thanks for that. I like to think that the forces of good are on the side of the brothers - that there are some angels watching over them. It stands to reason that if there is evil, then there has to be good, otherwise there is no balance. Glad you loved it...Jules

I was going back reading some of your fics that I (somehow) missed and just had to say that I absolutely adored this fic.It was extremely powerful. Sam's angst was brutal, and so was Dean's confusion as to how to keep going - how to save Sammy. You portrayed Dean's conflicting thoughts on his loyalty and faith in his Dad and his ultimate trust and love for Sam beautifully.

And on a much more immature note, there's something about Dean striking up a conversation with Jesus that made me giggle. And Immanuel's comment about the scars on his feet? Priceless.

Overall, the fic was just stunning!

~Cait

Author's Response: Oh - sorry, I missed replying - haven't checked the old stuff for a while. Thanks for that, Cait. There was just so much stuff between them at the end of that episode - so I just had to get in on the act and write a tag. Glad I did the boys justice...Jules

Wow. This one rocks. I'm really enjoying your work; I've read a few now, keep meaning to write reviews on each one, but I get so caught up in wanting to read MORE! that I truck on over to another story :)

But, I vowed I'd write some feedback soon, so here it is. You are so going on my Favorites list!

Author's Response:

Why, thank you. So, you're hunting me down, eh? Favourites? Now I'm blushing.

Seriously, thank you. I had originally planned for Dean to work out who Immanuel really was, but when I was almost finished writing it, I realised it worked better if he didn't know, but still took His words to heart...Jules

Well done.

Author's Response: Thank you! I think we all needed a hug after the heartwrenching ending to Heart. Especially Sammy....Jules

Loved it - the last order 'really killed me?' Great! Angst and a mostly happy ending. Doesn't get much better...

Author's Response: Thanks - and thanks for the review. I do like my happy endings...(probably why a friend calls me Pollyanna...)...Jules

Can't believe how lucky I am to have stumbled across this one." Actually went looking for your stuff after "What am I supposed to do"

What a breathtaking piece of writing this is. So poignant and absolutely a perfect tag to his eppy. Immanual came into Dean's life in your story with perfect timing - not only to save Sam from himself but because of the dark place Dean was leaning into. I loved the parallel talk around the fathers - I think Dean was affirmed in his loyalty to John via Immanual's faith in His Fathers plans.

And that hug!  Just beautifully written, just what Sam and Dean both needed. Just what WE needed. I actually held my breath as Dean entered the motel room, fearing the worst. But where was my faith? Of course Immanual's timing and advice would be perfect. Simply stunning, an emotionally power-packed fic.

Author's Response: Thank you - can't believe I missed replying to you - sorry about that. This story popped into my head just before Easter, and I was racing to get it finished so I could post it before the weekend was over. It was nice to be able to tie a little faith into the boys' lives...Jules

This is good, i enjoyed it.

Author's Response: Thank you - and thank you for reviewing. Heart was just such a powerful episode, I wondered at the aftermath of all that emotion. It was something that would not just go away with a joke and some heavy rock music. Glad you liked it.

I really enjoyed this! I so loved that episode. And this fits perfectly into it!

Author's Response: Thanks Kayla. Glad you liked it. I like the thought that a higher power is watching over the boys, even though they dont' feel like it at times.

My mind kept traveling back to Sam holdin his brother's gun, lost and alone in the dark motel room by the light of the window while Dean throws back whiskeys in the bar--WOW, powerful imagery! Immanuel depicted beautifully, down to Earth, concerned, misunderstood, calm, funny, etc. (Lousy carpenter--too funny). Its nice to see the higher forces looking out for the brothers. He gave Dean just enough push to return and save his brother. I emptied my tissue box between when Sammy hid the gun under his shirt and when he flung himself into his brother's arms.

Happy Easter!!

Author's Response: As I said below, this review and the one before it brought tears to my eyes. What a blessing you all have given me, in your responses to this fic. It was something I just had to write, but I didn't expect such a positive response! Faith is such a tricky thing to write about, and one is never sure of how well it will be received. All of these reviews are treasured - thank you.

I literally teared up reading that. When the preacher said he used to be a carpenter and introduced himself as Immanuel I think I actually said, "Whoah" out loud. And the passage about his father's final request...wow. I love the idea of Dean, who I think struggles with the idea of faith, being touched by a higher power who recognizes the light in him. Excellent choice for the final quote, too. Well done.

Author's Response: Well, I literally teared up when I read these last two reviews. Oh, my gosh - thank you so much. I was very proud of this one for a number of reasons, not the least of which being able to marry up my faith and my fantasy. And I have been blown away by the response. Thank you, and bless you.

OH, I love your word-play with Immanuel and Dean. I actually gasped when Dean saw the scars on the backs of his hands... I had tears in my eyes thinking about Dean actually having a conversation with Jesus... just not knowing it. I especially liked the line from Immanuel about his father's requests "...the last one really killed me, but it all worked out okay..."

I hope that the season finale doesn't let us down -- I hope Dean is able to save his brother and find his redemption in that act. But until then, I thank you for writing such a movie, yet funny, piece.

Author's Response: Thanks - this one really was stuck in my head for a week, and I just had to finish it for Easter. Originally I was going to have Dean realise who the preacher was when he got back to the motel, but as the story took shape, that idea just went out the window. It didn't fit anymore. And like you, I'm madly believing that Sam is too good to turn evil, and that Dean will save him.

Beautifully done mizpah. Loved the little twist about the preacher, I didn't see this coming.

Author's Response: Thank you, Oceane - I loved writing the line Dean said about him being a lousy carpenter!

Nice job you can be proud.

Author's Response:

Thank you - I was proud of this one - had it ticking around in my head for about a week, and just knew I had to try to get it written down for Easter. It just seemed to fit somehow.

Wow Mizpah, I loved that, and the Biblical reference at the end is a cracker! Dean is already trusting his heart and soul, so I have to believe that everything will turn out okay! Many thanks.

Author's Response: Thank you for that - yes, like you, I'm believing that it will turn out okay, and that Sam will be saved, but not like Madison...that he will be survive and not be evil.

that story made me smile, it was really beautiful. i love the show but i must admit, it can be pretty dark sometimes. a bit of hope goes a long way :]

Author's Response: gelfje - thanks for that. Yes, things have gotten very grim for our boys over season 2 - so I try to have a little bit of hope in my fics. And of course, I'm believing that Sam won't turn evil....ever hopeful.

good job original idea.... i could read tags to this episode all day long i swear...great job

Author's Response: Thanks KatieL - yes, it was such an awesome episode for many reasons - oh, but that look at the end - heartbreaking. It's inspired a number of tag stories.

Mizpah

What a cool story- appropriate Easter fare and great tag to Heart and everything else those guys have been through in season 2 thus far.

Great job!

Author's Response: Well thank you! Wow! One of the VS team commenting on my story - I'm gob-smacked! Thanks so much - it was inspired by that last look between them, just before the shot. And of courese, my fervent wish that Sam doesn't turn evil.
