"He wore an expression of fathomless sadness, of earnestness that was almost painful to witness." You've captured Castiel's expression and manner perfectly. Kudos! It's good to see that Sam is taking some responsibility for his actions. He didn't just blame Ruby but is accepting his share of Dean's death. I'm eager to find out what's happening to Sam. If it isn't his powers, then whose is it?

I love the self-recrimination Sam feels. Most of the struggles between the two brothers are because Sam tries to step out of his brother's shadow. I've always thought that Sam's determination to end the apocalypse stemmed more from a desire to one-up Dean than any altruistic motive to save mankind. He has glimpses of how great Dean's love is for him but he always reverts to being a spoiled brat when he doesn't get his way. "He pulled over twice, dizzy with pain, sure that he could not continue, And twice, he found it within himself to steady and forge on." I like the phrasing of this sentence. It shows that you try to get the most reaction from your words. This is a statement of triumph.

If Sam wouldn't have seen Dean's mark Ruby nearly would've win. With Sam's confession about Ruby, maybe it's the first step to a reconciliation between the brothers. What a great story, I can't wait for more.

ooh- shades of Sex and Violence.. kinda love it when the boys go after each other.. Now that Sam saw the mark - I wonder if his next conversation with Ruby will be half as civil. Hope not- still hate her even though she appears to be gone for good in the real show. Hopefully Bobby will straighten these two out.

So the Trickster gave everyone a second chance and Sam almost screwed it up again, thanks to Ruby. I've seen guys being led by their private parts before but this is way extreme. As for Ruby, I'm hoping they gank her for good this time.

Uh oh. So not good but I can't blame Dean for being resentful. Now we have to see if Sam has learned anything from the "dream". But right now, I'm wondering if they'll even make it to Bobby's at the rate they're going at it.

wow- Dean is seriously bugged about that whole deal... sorta surprising that he's so vehement after spending so much energy trying to get his brother back- dream or not... I really love this story and the emotional turmoil you've generated. Of course- you never let me down with any of your stories- so I know I just need to hang on... and see where this one is gonna resolve.

This was awesome.... I loved Castiel in this- such a nice change from when he's stoic and seemingly uncaring.
I thought for a second this was the end- so now I cant wait to see what happens when everybody starts comparing notes. I wonder if they'll figure out that the Trickster messed with everything... Great job Mal! This story has had some just unbelievable twists and turns. Nicely crafted!
