Well, I was sort of right about the knife, huh? So in character for Dean to ram the SD into his chest, sacrificing himself to save Sam. For a bit, I was hoping that the soul healing/cleansing would extend to the physical and heal Dean's wounds, too, but that would've been the easy way out. Instead, you have Sam reclaiming himself and cringing in horror at his evil deeds, and his brother's near-fatal injuries. Love Bobby teetering between loving support of Dean and raging loathing of Sam. The end does offer the hope/promise of redemption and forgiveness for Sam. Awesome story. Sue

Yeah, I did think of having the epiphany heal Dean but decided Sam needed to see what he had wrought with his actions. I loved writing Bobby but was nervous of getting him correct. He is such a complex character so if he seemed somewhat right, I am well pleased. And I'm finally pleased you found redemption/hope at the end of it. When I wrote it there were so many very very bleak stories around and I wanted to produce some thing that was realistic but gave a glimmer of hope! Thanks Sue you have made my day. Bev xx

Vivid, gritty no-holds barred deadly fight scene between the brothers. Poor Dean! At the back of my mind, there's this desperate hope that maybe Dean's blood falling on the Sgian Dubh means something - for surely some of his blood must be staining the blade after Sam's last attack... Sue

Thank you. I got most of my wishes. Dean's alive if not 'put back together' and you've begun the path to mending the brother's relationship. So I'm ecstatic. Thoroughly enjoyed Bobby's pov throughout this story, never more so that in this chapter. His tender care of Dean, his anger at Sam and all the damage he has caused. Enjoyed (sad person that I am) him getting Sam in cuffs and his total distrust was absolutely believeable. Thank you for a great read.

I had guessed that it had to be Dean's blood to save Sam, but I didn't want it to be true. I think the hardest part will be Sam figuring out how to live with himself after everything. Great story!

OMG! So dark, and painful! Brought tears to my eyes. Dean's sacrifice was horrible, agonizing and heart-wrenching, yet it was so beautiful that he would still give his life for the monster that Sam had become. Bobby's disgust and anger toward Sam was palpable, and so was Sam's guilt and regret after he was released from the darkness. Excellent writing. I'm at a loss for words to describe how powerful your story was. Incredible.

A beautiful ending. I always love how you write Bobby, how you write the emotional interaction between Bobby and the boys. I love this ending. Something like this is how I started imagining the end might be awhile back now, though we never spoke of it. In my mind this story is your crowning achievement so far in everything from the storyline and the writing style to the portrayal of the boys and Bobby. Palpable.

I luuuuved it! There were times when it left me speechless and crying and so uncertain what to think, how to feel. The despair and heartlessness were so accute. It was hard to think of Sam purposely wanting to hurt his brother, let alone contemplate the enjoyment he received and the degree of pain he caused. I couldn't believe the cruel pleasure Sam took in breaking his brother. I honestly didn't think Dean would be able to redeem Sam and this would be the final battle between good and evil or at least between the brothers. I didn't think Dean would be able to kill Sam but I didn't think he would live if he stabbed himself. This was an amazing piece and one I will return to. It was so provocative and beautifully written.

amazing. again, i am really digging this delving into the dark and the scenario it presents. the boys' fighting is always interesting, the to of them knowing the other's weaknesses so well.
