Reviews For Means To An End

Really interesting and somewhat grim take on an ending for the boys - although you kind of bring them together in your epilogue, I still find that a terribly sad ending given their need (or I suppose Dean's need anyway) for closeness to only have a single day every year seems tragic...

Love the references that inspired you, I've recently got into T S Elliot and had never realised so many powerful quotes came from his pen, what a poet!  And Dylan Thomas' Do not go gentle is my all time fave poem, gives me the shivers every time I read it and is actually perfect for Dean, don't you think?

Author's Response:

Hey, thanks! Every time I turn on my computer, there's a new review from you, LOL.

It was a tragedy, sure, but it's kind of better than what they had... er... isn't it? LOL  Anyway, thanks for reading and reviewing - as always. :)

I loved this. You killed the boys and made it all right in one fell swoop. Well done.

I love the idea of Sam and Dean trading places each year and getting to spend a little bit of time together somewhere peaceful. I loved they knew it was Bobby and Cas that finally got Lilleth and that Dean stepped out for coffee once she was on the rack!

I can understand you not wanting to kill the boys again. After all I don't think you could improve on the rightness of this story all.

Author's Response:

Thanks! Nice to know the bits that appealed to you - sometimes I have no idea if I gel with the rest of the fandom, LOL. And as for killing the boys again... I think I spoke too soon when I wrote that...

Ta for the stars! Much appreciated. :)

Very interesting.

Brilliant, i loved it.

Author's Response:

Thanks! Glad the ending was worth the wait, LOL.

Always good to see your name here!

But what an AU - fantasic hun, crammed full of wonderful images (STILL love the boys as sunbeams, heh). And hey, they ain't really dead - though that's kinda tortuous, only letting them have one day together every year...

Love it - angst Toza style!

And maybe looking forward to the further adventures of Bobby and Christian MacCloud? 'Cause that just sounds like all kindsa fun!

Author's Response:

Hmm... you know what? I never considered a spin-off with Bobby and Christian MacLeod... Maybe that's something that needs thinking about...

Ta for reading to the (sob!) end, and for reviewing. Hmm...

Reviewer: GotTheShining (Signed) · Date: 22/02/09 09:57 PM · On: EPILOGUE: The Song Remains The Same

I absolutely LOVED the ending! The day/night shift concept was awesome.

I couln't help but think of Connor McLeod when he said "C. MacLeod".  And Cass going by "Christian" was too funny:)

One question though...what is a mac???I've never heard that expression before (except when referring to kissing)

Author's Response:

Thanks! It just amused me to think that he might choose a name like that - or perhaps Bobby used it for fun, and he liked it, or... or maybe even a little Dean-ness had rubbed off on him and he thought it would be ironic. I did have a quick howl of laughter when 'MacLeod' came to me though - a mac and a cloud, aceness. And of course there's the whole 'there can be only one'-ness to Castiel now being human, LOL.

And 'mac'? The only two uses for the word I know of are the name for a mackintosh (or raincoat) and when used like 'buddy' to call to  someone you don't know.

Anyway, glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the stars - better than pie...

Aw! This was just the whole kit and kaboodle. Made me laugh, made me cry (especially the last one). Well Done!

Author's Response:

Good to know it did its job - thanks for the review! Much obliged.

Reviewer: amethyst (Signed) · Date: 22/02/09 05:57 PM · On: EPILOGUE: The Song Remains The Same

And the oscar goes to.......TozaBoma! For not only the best acceptance speech but the best story in which she kills the heros but still makes us laugh!

go enjoy your oscar after party.

Author's Response:

There's no point killing the heroes if you can't get a good giggle out of it, that's what my dad always says. Well alright, he doesn't - but it's still true, LOL.

Thanks for reading and reviewing! And stars are always welcomed!

Reviewer: lillelouis (Signed) · Date: 22/02/09 12:59 PM · On: EPILOGUE: The Song Remains The Same

Very lovely. Thank you very much for sharing that little goodie with us. I actually went ahead and read the T.S. Elliot poem and loved it. Never would have thought of doing that if I hadn't read this. Thank you.

Author's Response:

Wow - I'm pushing lit poems on people? LOL. Who'd have thought Guy Fawkes would factor into it?  :)

Thanks for reaching the end. And thanks for the stars! Glad this went over ok - I had visions of being slapped for killing them off like that, LOL.

Excellent!!!!!!!

what a fitting ending to a turbulent life.

they both deserve a piece of heaven and who better to watch over hell.

great job.

Renee

Author's Response:

I thought it only fitting too, after I'd written it and then realised what I'd done to them, LOL.

Thanks for reading and reviewing! Much obliged. :)

WOW OMG WOW!!! That was absolutely superb, really original and totally heart breaking, then heart warming all rolled into one! OH it was just incredible. well done on something so fantastic. I would favourite if my favourites worked on this site :( xx x xx

Author's Response:

Aww, thanks! I would write a proper comment if this page didn't keep trying to sign me out every time I press the return key, LOL.

Glad it pushed all the buttons. And thanks for the stars! :)

Oh.  My.  Soul.

I'm speechless.

I just...  GUH!...

Absolutely beautiful.  My cheeks hurt from smiling, and I swear I teared up at least three times for this one.  Dean singing that song... Sam just sitting there in the sun, watching him come.

This was just beautiful.  Just beautiful.

Thanks so much for writing it and then sharing it with us.  Seriously.

Author's Response:

I think that's my favourite part of the whole thing - Sam on the fence, Dean singing as he gets closer. There's just something eternal about it.

Thanks for reading and reviewing! Glad it 'worked'.

Will try and review again - third time lucky!? I love this story hun, it's darker than your usual, but that quirky Toza edge comes through in this chapter - Sam and Dean as sunbeams? Cool! And that note just brought a lump to my throat - I could hear Dean speaking those words just as vividly as I could see Bobby stnding there trying not to believe them.

And then of course, Castiel as Bobby's sidekick - that's just gonna rock!

Can't wait for part three, now fingers crossed that this is gonna go through ok...

Author's Response:

I got the review, ta very much... Something weird is going on with the Shoutbox, too, it keeps telling me I'm not 'connected'. Riiiiiight.

Anyway, cheers for giving part 2 a chance after I summarily killed off the main draw, LOL. Hope chapter three delivers. It will be up in a day or two.

*iz nervuz*

What the Hell?

 You killed Dean and Sam?

  Castiel as Bobby's sidekick?

That's it now I'm breaking out the vodka! Please update soon.

Author's Response:

Have you ever known me to leave everything in a dark place? Oh alright, you have, BWA-HA-HA-HA-HAAAA!

Seriously, the 3rd and final chapter is my favourite. Could have been something to do with having cracked open the Stoli cos I needed comforting after writing parts 1 and 2, LOL.

Or it might just be that I know what's coming next....

Reviewer: darkhunter (Signed) · Date: 17/02/09 04:06 PM · On: What You Leave Behind

I can't wait to see what's going to happen next.

Author's Response: Tee-hee! Thanks for reading and reviewing (again). I could tell you right now, but the final chapter isn't quite polished yet and I'm worrying about a few little things. Cheers!

Reviewer: Impala (Signed) · Date: 17/02/09 01:53 PM · On: What You Leave Behind

Oh man it is so freaking sad, especially when Bobby spoke of how you should never out live your family...ah I almost cried!

I'm getting so ansy waiting for you to complete this..DAMN YOU one more chapter I still have to wait, and freaking Castiel is being so darned cryptic you'd think now that he were human he'd be a little easier to understand lol

Really amazing, I don't think i've ever read a story that has kept me this intrigued!

- Bex

Author's Response:

Woah, thanks very much for the kind words! That Castiel, eh? Tricky things, these angels...

Part three coming soon!

Reviewer: Primrose (Signed) · Date: 17/02/09 01:26 PM · On: A Bang And A Whimper

I want to see what part three brings us, but this makes me think of the ending to the REAL Little Mermaid- saved at the last minute to get a chance to someday get into heaven.  Whether or not that's really the case, it makes me feel the same way- bitter and sweet all at once.  I like your ideas.

Author's Response: Mermaids? Sounds to chick-flicky for me to have seen it, LOL. Ta for reading and reviewing, much obliged!

Reviewer: lillelouis (Signed) · Date: 17/02/09 11:18 AM · On: What You Leave Behind

Aww... So I'm secretly hoping we'll get to see Sam and Dean as angels in the epilogue, looking down on everyone with compassionate smiles?... No?... Guess I'll just have to pace myself and wait... I like the set-up. The way you make it seem so logicsl and inevitable that they became angels. Like, "why not?" Very nice. Very nice writing as always, hun. Oh and I love the last line:

Just what the hell does that mean?

Very, very nice. And I loved the quote as well, although it made me a little melancholic....

Nice of you to share it with us. Cheers, Andi :D

Author's Response:

Ooooh, Sam and Dean as ANGELS? You[d like to see that, wouldn't you?

I guess we'll just have to wait and see, LOL

Thanks for reading and reviewing as always...

Reviewer: NongPradu (Signed) · Date: 17/02/09 10:55 AM · On: A Bang And A Whimper

"Glad you liked it! Thought I was going to get drop-kicked out of here myself for such sacrilege, LOL."

Just thought I should comment on this as well.  You're saying this to the girl who had Sam crucify Dean.  There'll be no drop-kicking from my end.  lol.

Author's Response:

Oh. My. God.

YOU'RE Zatnickel? ROFL

I LOVED your Ending - but you know that right? Cos I left you that hyowj FF.net review, LOL!

Ooooooh, love to love you baby, as the song goes...

Reviewer: NongPradu (Signed) · Date: 17/02/09 10:53 AM · On: What You Leave Behind

Yes, please, what the hell does that mean?!?

You're breakin' my heart, woman!

Author's Response:

Ah-ha.... Next part up soon - have faith, love. I am nothing if not a sucker for sub-plots and  unexpected twists....

Reviewer: rbliss1969 (Signed) · Date: 14/02/09 10:13 PM · On: A Bang And A Whimper

what an evil cliffy.............

this chapter had me in tears.  Sam turning and hating Dean.  Dean killing Sam.

Dean seeing sam as a little boy and telling him he was sorry for not being the brother Sam wanted or needed...............cried like a baby.

hope next chapter will be soon.

Renee

Author's Response:

Oh no, I'm making nice people cry! But don't worry, I've seen the next chapter. :)

Thanks for reading and reviewing - MUCH appreciated!

Reviewer: amethyst (Signed) · Date: 14/02/09 08:03 PM · On: A Bang And A Whimper

holy crap.... that cliffhanger is just cruel! I hope the series doesn't end like this i don't think my heart could stand it!

please update soon, I've already chewed all my finger nails on my left hand reading this I'd really like to keep my right manicure!

Author's Response:

Ahh... but you don't know what I know about the next part, *insert ee-vil laugh here*!

I'm sorry to hear about your nails. Always remember what Streebeck said in Dragnet - "kids, it'll grow back!"  ROFL

Thanks for reading and reviewing - and feeding me stars! You know you're just encouraging me, right?

Reviewer: Ace33 (Signed) · Date: 14/02/09 04:10 PM · On: A Bang And A Whimper

Wow. What else can I say? Wow. You have a gem of a story on your hands. I can't wait for the second chapter!

~Kayla

Author's Response: Thanks for reading and reviewing - next part coming soon! :)

Reviewer: lillelouis (Signed) · Date: 14/02/09 03:05 PM · On: A Bang And A Whimper

Oh no you didn't?! You don't have to worry about being shot, you're gonna get EATEN if you don't finish this! *Dramatic gopher look*

Hurry hurry, type till your fingers itch! (Was going to say bleed, but I'm not completely heartless) Looking forward to the second chapter! :D Wiiiii

Author's Response:

Next chapter coming as soon as it's been tweaked - probably mid-week. It's this Real Life thing that gets in the way, LOL!
