Oh what a chapter!!!! My heart is tearing up for poor Sam. I can feel his poort heart just tearing apart. You really put so much feeling into your writing. You can feel a part of the story when reading it. While reading this, I had tears in my eyes. I could physically feel poor Sam's pain and what he must have felt when he lost Dean. Wow, Sam's response to Bobby's phone call was heartbreaking. The way he struggled to grasp the truth he couldn't remember. Good to see he listened to Bobby and came back. Seeing Dean, carrying him, holding him made him real. Spending time with Bobby and waiting at the clinic, hearing what happened, remembering bits and pieces made Dean real. To see how Sam felt unworthy to be treated, to be called Bobby's son, it tore me up. Bobby's comment about him always being on the outside looking in just reinforced this. And then they get good knews, Dean is going to be alright. Again Sam sees and feels his brother and now suddenly it comes out that he still can't belief. This fits so much into his general feeling of unworthiness. Dean can't be back because Sam doesn't deserve for him to be back. And again he takes off and as much as you are trying to tell me he might have a better plan this time, I'm not going to belief you. Taking the whisky with him, leaving his cell and his attempt to find an alternative plan speak louder than words. Sam is not going to do anything rational, his plan is a real bad one. And once again you leave it there for another week of torture. I did like your Nurse Ratchet, I saw myself beating her up for being such a bitch. Wonderful writing again. Hugs, Vonnie
Author's Response: Thanks for that, Vonnie. Sorry about the week of torture, but there are a number of reasons why I can only update once a week. The major one is that I have SLE, an auto-immune disorder, and when it flares up I can't even sit at the computer and type. So if I keep to the weekly updates, it eases the strain of keeping all the balls in the air such as work, the house, family and the lupus. Yes, Sam isn't quite ready to let himself believe that Dean's really back. He can still see his brother's ripped body so clearly, even when presented with physical evidence of Dean's life restored. So he's gone off on a little drive to get some more corroborating evidence. And there's only one place he can get that - and it's not at a crossroads. There's one place he can go which will tell him without a doubt that Dean is back in his body and alive. Sam's struggle is with actually going to the place and doing what he has to do to get that proof. A better plan than going after Lilith, though. Trust me. Oh, and Nurse Ratched is about to get her just desserts.... Jules

That can never be good. lucky you going to the convention, I couldn't convince the hubby it was valid reason to fly all the way to Sydney. He seams to think the kids education fund is more important than Jensen Ackles, he has no soul!

And I've had a sneak peek at episodes 9 & 10, thanks to a friend of Cookie6, and I can tell you that Ruby really pushed all his buttons..... And the look on his face when he finally gave in was heartbreaking - like he'd just sold his soul.... Hopefully you're through the storms. How do you do this? You have the ability to grab me, toss me around, make my brain all dizzy and then let go, leaving me begging for more because I liked it so much. Unbelievable. What a chapter. From the beginning,when Dean wakes up and slowly figures out Sam is gone, to Sam getting drunk to chase the pain and guilt away, to Dean finding him,realizing what's going on and trying everything he can to convince him he is real, Sam knocking him out and leaving on his suicide mission, driving drunk out of his mind, to Dean waking up and calling Bobby before passing out again, this was a roller coaster ride. My emotions ran away with me while reading this. The pain and lost feeling emanating from Sam and the desperate attempts from Dean to bring him back when he realized how bad things really were for his brother came through so loudly, they screamed. Holy evil cliffie Batman! Amazing chapter! This one has so much -- the confusion, the humour (only slightly), and the off-the-scale angst! What a clear picture you painted of poor Sam's torment and anguish at Dean being in Hell. Him being haunted nightly by the "show" of Dean being torn apart by the Hellhounds... kind of freezes the blood, doesn't it? Excellent job! Can't wait for more!

You know, I've watched the S4 finale a couple of times now (and failed to stop the tears every time), and Sam's near-hysterical screams as the hellhounds pull Dean apart haunt me. Seeing his brother whom he loved more than life itself "You got me - now let my brother go" - torn to shreds like that, imagining what fate lay in store for Dean down in the Pit - it's a wonder that Sam can still string two coherent words together after all that.
