Aww, I like Dean's little boy conversation, it sounds like true 3-year old thinking and talking. And I suddenly realized that this is Sam's only Thanksgiving with Mary, she'll be gone and the Winchester tragedy will be well underway before next year's Thanksgiving. The foreshadowing in this is almost painful, except for Dean and Mary seeming to know that he's gonna be the best big brother, ever. Sue

I think that THIS was where I meant to leave the review that ended up in the first chapter. About them sharing the pie. Sam is sad, but it's still better than when they were separated.

I think this might be the saddest of the Thanksgivings.

I remember this one. It's so awkward being in unfamiliar surroundings on a holiday. I like thinking that Sam really did go with Jessica for Thanksgiving or Christmas.

I'm surprised at how many chapters I missed reviewing! I really thought I was doing better than that. I remember having my tonsils out. Ice cream is the BIG LIE. I didn't want to eat ANYTHING, much less ice cream. I was also 7. Dean's much tougher.

I like this one. It reminds us that for all his flaws, John loves his boys. It's a good moment. It's fun going back and reviewing after the fact. I'm reading things all over again!

If I couldn't have sweet potatoes with marshmallows on top, I would not be disappointed. I can't see why Dean would be disappointed. They're yucky.

I love how you make every version of Thanksgiving unique. I never had the blue hair Thanksgiving, except with my own grandma- I DID have a few Christmases at a trailer park that turned out like that....

Early examples of the sacrifices Dean makes for Sam. Sigh. I love those elementary school turkey projects!

I'm trying to decide if I would still have Thanksgiving after a big family tragedy. I think I would be the type who would cook EVERYTHING even if I didn't feel like I could do it. It sounds awful to tell it, but the day my father-in-law died I had a show booked at the local library for a bunch of toddlers. I showed up at my in-laws with my witch costume in tow, and waited for the coroner with the family with my witch hat complete with dangling spiders on my head. I did the show- 73 toddlers there- even though the librarians said it would be fine if I cancelled. I just felt like he would have been really mad at me if I hadn't performed for those kids, and I'm willing to bet he was there to see it. I cried when the show was done. That was probably more than you needed to know! This means you did a good job. We all have our stories of dealing with loss, and I can't help thinking of those times when I read this.

You really do toddlers well. I've noticed this with all of your weechester stories.

I don't think my review on this chapter counts. It's clearly for another chapter, and I clicked on something wrong. In fact, if I remember right, I didn't even start reading this story until you had gotten several chapters into it. So I wouldn't have reviewed the first chapter in the first place. Well, here's to fixing it. I remember this chapter, actually. It's normal. It's sweet, and a little painful when you think of everything that comes after.

Great story! I love how you've managed to make each Thanksgiving unique while bringing back reoccurring themes.
Author's Response: Hey there! Thanks so much for coming over to check out my story, I really appreciate the great review you left. This one was definitely a labor of love. I'm so thrilled you liked it so well. I hope you will take a look at some of my other stories when you get a chance. I have some one-shots up, "Parenting Your Gifted Child" was recently nominated for an award, so you might like that one. I also have a few ongoing hurt/comfort action/adventure stories: "The Soul Collector" and "Always With You" are the ones I like best. And I have some wee!Chester stories up: "Just Like My Big Brother" and "Big Brother to the Rescue." I hope you'll take a look at some of them and let me know what you think! :) Thanks again for taking the time to read and review, it really made my day!

Aw - How sad that this story's now at an end -- I've enjoyed it tremendously- so touching and warm, even at the most difficult times in both boys' lives -- I'm so happy I chanced to read it! -- I'll take a stab in the dark that the literary allusion in 15 is the French poet Baudelaire? - And is the movie reference for "The Fox and the Hound"? - Maybe significant because Amos is a hunter, though not the same kind as Bobby and the boys, as well as his hound - and the fox's caretaker is his neighbor? Don't quite know how far from right I am, as I'm not very good at this- ;-) I applaude this wonderful story - It was a privilege to read ;) -!

A lovely chapter, it was great that Bobby was in this one, i do love Bobby. Thank you for writing this amazing story,it was a joy to read. I hope we do get some brotherly moments in season 5, and if you do write more, i'll be back to read all about them.
Author's Response: Hey there! Thank you for the great rating and review you left for the last chapter of my story. It means a lot to me! I'm so glad you liked this one with Bobby. I love him, and writing this chapter with him was so fun. It ended up being one of my favorites. I'm tickled that you plan to come back if I end up writing more. I'm very hopeful, with the way the show ended, that I'll be back! I'm happy that you liked the series so much. Thank you for all of the kind words and your faithful support. It really means a lot to me, and was a HUGE encouragement as I was writing this series. I hope to still see you around, over on my other stories! :)

Wow, Beth, Thank you for ending on a high note, with everyone enjoying a traditional Thanksgiving meal at Bobby's. Fingers crossed that they can repeat this scene next year. I didn't catch your movie or book reference, but I caught a few SPN references in this chapter, does that count (vbg)? Everything from the pilot, to Devil's Trap and Bloodlust. Wonderful story, here's hoping for another helping or two (eventually). Sue
Author's Response: Hey there, Sue! Thanks, so much, for coming back to check out this last chapter. I really appreciate the rating and review you left. I'm so glad you liked this chapter, it ended up being one of my absolute favorites. And I'm happy you're hoping for more of the series, eventually. It looks good for a Season 5 chapter, if the finale is anything to go by. I really hope it works out, cuz I have tons of ideas still. ;) I'm tickled that you caught the SPN references I threw in there, good job on that! But no, it doesn't count, LOL. Thanks again for the great review and rating, it really means a lot to me! :)

Hooray! What a great ending (for now)! I've mentioned before how much I've enjoyed these stories, and this was no exception. I'm glad that you left it on a positive note, and yes, right after Heaven and Hell is a perfect little place for that. You've got some great details here that I loved. The one that caught my attention was Sam chewing on his thumb- don't ask my why that stood out, but it made me smile. I have to agree about the pie. When I grew up, our small town in Oregon had a festival and our church had a pie booth. Every year, my mother signed up to make 50 pies, and my sister and I were the support staff. You name the type of pie, I have probably made it. Except Pistachio. I have never heard of a pistachio pie. Do you have a recipe for that thing? I wish the wait wasn't going to be so long for season five. I hope that someday you get the inspiration to fill in some extra years. I will be glad to see them.
Author's Response: Hey there! Sorry it's taken me so long to respond to this, but I wanted to thank you for the great review you left on this last chapter. I really appreciate your support throughout the entire series, it's meant a lot. I'm really glad you enjoyed this chapter at Bobby's, and the series as a whole. I'm tickled that the detail with Sam chewing his thumb stood out to you, I debated over leaving that in, so I'm glad it worked for you! Oh yeah, pistachio pie is my favorite. If you really want the recipe, email me and I'll try to find it again. :) Thanks again!

That was a lovely moment - and I'm absolutely stoked that you chose to finish this off at Bobby's. I so love Bobby! Loved Sam giving that little snicker every now and then, and obligingly smacking Dean upside the head when Bobby asked him to. And Dean's reaction to being told to sit and stay - LOL. They did have a lot to be grateful for, and I adored the fact that not only did Bobby pointedly remind Dean of his rescue from Hell, but also the fact that Sam was standing there safe and sound (for the moment.....). And the pie just topped it off nicely. Those boys need Bobby. And they needed that normal thanksgiving, especially after everything they had been through, and what they were about to go into. Well, Beth, I really hope that you can do a brotherly season 5 chapter - it doesn't look good for the boys at the moment, so I'm hoping to heaven that they find their way back to each other before the end. Fingers crossed. This was a really wonderful feel-good story - and it had its angsty moments, too. Carefully and brilliantly crafted, with insightful character studies and emotional highs and lows to keep us riveted chapter after chapter. Awesome, just awesome. Thank you so much. Jules
Author's Response: Hey there, Jules! Sorry it's taken me a while to respond to this, RL's been a killer. But I SOOO appreciate the lovely review and rating you left. Thank you! *hug* I've re-read your review several times now. It means so much to me that you liked this chapter, and the series, so much! I hope when you get a chance, you'll check out some of my new stories. "The Soul Collector" and "Always With You" are my favorites that I've done since "Thanksgiving" ended. Thanks again, Jules. It really means the world to me that an author of your calibre had such high praise for something I wrote. :) Hope to see you around!
Author's Response: I also meant to say: I really appreciate that you stuck with this series all the way through, and faithfully reviewed each chapter. That meant so much to me. If not for the few of you who read and reviewed each chapter, I probably would've stopped posting this here. So thanks!! :)

Such a bounce from brother to brother - Dean eager to take some time out and enjoy the day, Sam desperate and driven to find a way out of Dean's deal. Dean sitting in the room with his brother but really by himself watching the game on his own, practically eating on his own, while Sam tuned everything out but his endless search. Love the so-sad moment of revelation for Sam when he realised that he'd been so focussed on saving Dean that he'd stopped seeing Dean. And my heart ached for those two discarded pieces of pie, symbolising so much...... Love the nod to a previous chapter with the note written on the back of the bag of jelly beans. Can't quite remember now, but I think it was a note written on a napkin when Sam was in hospital? Or was it Dean? Will have to read the story again and try to pick it up. But I do remember the note. Wonderful and sad and touching all at once. Jules
Author's Response: Hey there, Jules! I really appreciate you coming back to check out this chapter, I'm so glad you liked it. I wanted to show a little foreshadowing of what Sam's been doing this season (so focused on saving Dean that he stopped seeing him), and do it in such a way that I could have Sam realize what he's doing and repair it somewhat. I'm glad it worked for you.
And there was a nod to the previous note written on a napkin, good memory! It was in chapter 9, when Dean was in the hospital. Thanks again for taking the time to read and leave such a great review! It means a lot to me!

Aw- that was so heartbreaking, the unfinished pie thrown away like that -- and Dean's time running out weighing on both their shoulders, but in different ways -- You captured it very well- I'm looking forward to the last chapter, this most recent Thanksgiving, as well as your new story - :>) -!
Author's Response: Hey there! Thanks for coming back to check out the latest chapter of this. I appreciate you taking the time to review and rate this one! I'm so glad you liked it. Thanks for saying you look forward to the next chapter, and to the new story. That means a lot to me. I hope to have the start of the new story up before this weekend, and the next chapter of this up before the season finale next week. Hope to see you back here then! :) Thanks again!

Okay - That was a pleasure to read -- Awesomely spoke of that very painful year in the boys' lives, especially Dean's... Ya know what?- I've come to expect such awesome chapters from you, that I've almost (word is "almost" - but it's really "not quite") - come to expect, nay- Demand! (heh) - such a wonderfully heart-warming trip -- Well done!!
Author's Response: Awww...that's one of the nicest reviews I've ever gotten, THANK YOU!! It seriously made my day that you referred to these stories as heartwarming. That's always my goal. I'm so glad you liked this one, and hope you continue to read and enjoy! :) I don't know if you'd be at all interested, but I also have two stand-alone one-shots you might like. "Just Like My Big Brother" takes a look at what Sammy thought of Dean while they were growing up, and ties into Season 3. "Parenting Your Gifted Child" has them re-visiting their dad's storage locker where Sam discovers something about their childhood. I'd love to hear what you think of them! Thanks again for taking the time to read and review!

Hi Beth, Another treat. The boys start out divided, distanced by Sam's desire to thwart the deal and keep them together. You also tread the fine line of doing some holiday healing without stepping into A Very Supernatural Christmas territory. So the boys couldn't have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner this year, but you found a substitute in Sam's giving Dean the pumpkin pie flavored jelly beans. Sixteen pieces is the usual amount of slices that Cheesecake Factory, etc cut their desserts into, but I'm glad that there's at least another chapter coming. Sort of like a baker's dozen, you know? Great job, left me wanting to break out the bag of after-Easter black jelly beans I have. Sue
Author's Response: Hey, Sue! Thanks for coming back to check out another chapter. I really appreciate the great review you left. I'm so glad you liked this chapter, and felt I straddled the line well between providing some holiday happiness and intruding too much into AVSC territory. That means a lot to me! LOL I didn't remember that Cheesecake Factory, etc. cut their desserts into 16 pieces until you mentioned it. Coolness! Now I can pretend I did it on purpose! ;) Thanks again for taking the time to read and review, it made my day! Hope you continue to read and enjoy!

Oooohhh, awesome chapter Beth, delving deeply into Dean's feelings and setting it just before Croatoan was brilliant. I really appreciated the tag at the end, too. John's comment about the chocolate pie, was that from a previous chapter? (I've been reading this in segments and I don't know if it is or isn't. But the idea that John and Dean actually talked about the little things just resonates with me. You also show how special John was/is to Dean, something that's been evident since their hug in Shadow. Sue Sue
Author's Response: Hey there, Sue! Thanks for coming back to check out this chapter. I really appreciate it! I didn't realize that you hadn't read all of the chapters yet--to answer your question, no, the chocolate pie comment isn't something from a previous chapter. But the chapters do reference one another a lot; they kinda build on each another and often themes or images are repeated, or further clarification is given to an incident in a later chapter. Anyway, I'm really glad you enjoyed this one, and especially happy you liked the chocolate pie. Hope you continue to read and enjoy! :)

Sam knows just which buttons to press, doesn't he? Lovely that he can turn Dean's mood around just like that - and that he knows his brother far better than Jim!
Author's Response: Hey there! Thanks for coming back to check out this chapter, I appreciate it! Yep, Sam knows his brother better than anyone. I think that's true, and I love to portray them like that. I'm so glad you liked this one! Hope you'll continue to read and enjoy! Getting your reviews really made my day. :)

Back to fluffy again - and still great! Turkey trivia - hee, can just see Dean trying to keep with it all, and love Tom - is he going to make a reappearance? heh. And the lengths Dean would go to, just to make sure Sam gets his pie - and he does too!
Author's Response: Hey there! I'm glad you're still reading and enjoying! Yep, though names have been changed to protect the innocent, Tom is, in fact, real. I have the pictures to prove it! LOL And he does show up again, though not in person--but he's definitely referenced again. ;) I'm so glad you liked Tom and the turkey trivia, and the lengths Dean's willing to go to for pie and Sammy. Thanks for taking the time to read and review! :)
