this was OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!! You know the Winchesters and their ways so well - the realization that Dean didn't need to talk-Sam's understanding of his brother-AWESOME WRITING!!!!!!!!!!! Bobby buying baby fodd in a supermarket-too good for words. Bobby finding out Forge was a vampire-PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!! a vampire that's afraid of needles-beyond the pale-I can't stop laughing at that one!!!!! EVERYTHING about this chapter is AWESOME!!!!!!!!! MORE PLEASE!!!!! I'm on the enge of my seat-Sammy-OMG!!!!

Great chapter, funny dynamic between these three, and lots of good lines, particularly loved this, "Sam blinked again. Dean-hunter-and Forge-vampire-were sitting side by side feeding a dog-okay granted she was cute, but not bring world peace cute-treats and getting her to sit up. Sam was swearing off booze for good this time. He was obviously hallucinating." Lol...

Hilarious line! "The werewolf has rabies, the local law is a damn vampire, ya know, Sammy, it's a sad, sad day when the most normal things in our lives are us." Dean Winchester at his best. or so I thought until: "You've got to be kidding, Lesbian Vampire Killers: Hell Yeah!"... "No, Sam, look," snatching the movie from the shelf, Dean went back to the couch and stuck it under Sam's nose, "for real." This was such an enjoyable chapter and so emotionally diverse. It had Dean's beautiful comic relief and protective big brother attitude as well as Sam's calming influence and Forge's bit of loneliness and nostalgia.

I was completely surprised by that! I was expecting him to have been bitten by the werewolf but he was already a vampire?! That would explain his wierd blood. Was he a vampire when the Winchesters first met him? Why didn't Valkyrie notice anything was different about him? *whew!* Good thing Bobby blindfolded him to and from Haven.
Author's Response: Yep, he's a vampire. In Bonding of Souls, Valkyrie and Forge never interacted. Here, since he's not evil and the boys accept him, she'd accept him too, even if she did sense he was "different." Valkyrie is based on my dog, Rosie, that's her in the Safe Place story banner. She loves everyone she meets and if you rub her ears she's your friend for life. She's a pretty smart little dog, and I think would know a good person from a bad one. I decided Rosie would like Forge, so Valkyrie does too. Thanks for all your great comments. Laura

In the last chapter, I wanted to compliment you on the symopatico between the boys. I like how you've captured the tightrope they walk between smothering and independent. They seem to know just how far to push and are able to read one another's body language and the silent communication in their brother's eyes. Having different characters, such as Bobby and Forge, notice unique quirks in their relationship is a cool way of relaying it to the reader. oh no! did they find the family?

I would think the stores of shape-shifter sheddings would be fairly limited since most of them are killed shortly after discovery. Is that what the snot-goop is? Is it there to repel the werewolf or because the shape-shifter is impersonating a werewolf? That would explain the odd behavior. Love the sarcastic exchanges between Forge and Dean especially the bit about "cops." Too good!

What a cozy little dinner, all four of the principle characters except the dead men. Well, it would be if Forge's dinner wasn't still nearly squirming. I like my steak medium rare but not still bleeding. Ugh! So when are we going to find out if Forge was bitten?
