Very good piece. I love Dean's determination. I especially like when he tells Sam to trust him to know when there's no hope. That's a wonderful point.
Author's Response: Thank you! It was bugging me that Sam more or less just accepted that he was going to go darkside. And it's something I thought *someone* needed to say to Sam: if he was going to ask his brother to promise, then he had to trust the promise all the way.

Author's Response: Thanks! I didn't miss much of the episode, but one of the things about the show is that important things happen at unexpected times. I nearly missed the last scene in CSPWDT - my local CW had already shown "this next on the 10 o'clock news" and gone to commercial - AND I nearly missed "the promise" in Playthings whilst answering the phone ("Um, can I call you back at 10?"), I'm a little paranoid. :)

What an awesome job you've done on this. Thanks for sharing it. I have seen the entire episode, and this plays out very well as an extra scene - good job with the boys.
