Yeah!!  Excellent story!!  Brotherly banter: perfect!  Dean's jelly donut comment: perfect!  Killing the hellspawn: Bloody perfect!

Author's Response:

Glad you liked it! I realised at the last minute that 'jam doughnuts' are 'jelly donuts' in the USA, LOL. Relieved I changed that in time, eh?

Glad you got a kick out of it. :) Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Glad Dean got some slicin' into that hellspawn!!  Very exciting!

Wow.....it's all coming to a head!  Sam and Dean are Uber-hunters.  I think that's a great new title for them!  I liked Sam's convo with the Bossman, too.

Reviewer: mizpah (Signed) · Date: 25/01/09 01:45 AM · On: The 'If You Don't Like Gore, Look Away Now' Part

I agree with Sam - Bosun could have said if he'd seen John - lol!

Poor Pattingale - that must have been so gross, and so terrifying. No wonder he took off to his front yard for a bit of perspective - only to have Sam turn up with the bloody bag! Somehow I don't think that even if he was toying with the idea of returning to hunting, he would ever entertain the notion after the little run-in with the hell beast.

I could really feel Sam's fear, though, when he saw Dean go darkside and rip into the hell beast. And Dean's confusion when he snapped out of it, followed by his need for reassurance that he and his brother were still a team.

Hope Normal, Illinois has an off-duty nurse......

This was a great, rollicking read, and I thoroughly enjoyed. I really don't know why you would want to give up writing when you can turn out great stories like this one.

Please, don't give up. Quality writers are getting hard to find, and you are true quality. Hang in there, okay? We can't afford to lose you.

Author's Response:

Wow. I am overwhelmed you took time to write down your feelings for me - it is really appreciated! To read how you react to each chapter really gives me insight into how people predict or work out what's about to happen, and that's always useful to know! I hope to be able to surprise people still, and this info will definitely help...

Thanks for your time reading and leaving detailed reviews. And I hear you about not giving up - I think I'll hang around a little longer, if that's ok with everyone.

That was a tough grudge match, indeed. Loved Dean quoting the Stones.

But sad that Sam thinks that his brother might erupt and take him out, just like Dean would take out an evil creature. Those two really need to talk.

Pattingale's relief at finding he was in the company of John's sons made me smile. And he's right - they really are the best.

So, Dean finally remembered - and what a revelation. That must have hit Sam like a punch to the gut.

Wonder why Springfield is the magnet? Unless it's drawn there because there were a few hunters living there.

Had to chuckle at Pattingale feeling like he had to call in sick at work - lol! Poor man - despite him being a little thick-headed, I hope it doesn't get eaten by the Pit-hound.

"Jeans for Genes Day" is in Australia, too.

Oh, flip - the bloke Dean has been going twelve rounds with - three rounds at a time - is the next hunter on the thing from the Pit's list? Yikes!

Oh, forgot to mention in the last review that I really loved that note of Dean's that he left for Sam, thanking him for the pine box thing. That was sweet - so he did hear everything. That was good.

The bagel and coffee thing was sweet, too - loved the whole innocent Sam scene.

So, wonder where the missing page is from John's journal. And where is the Boss Man? Hasn't he finished recharging yet? Or is something more sinister afoot?

Oh, my gosh! That was heartbreaking! Dean just completely losing it and repeating that desperate line over and over again as he was lost in the terror of memories from Hell.

That was special - what Sam did to bring him back. Insisting on Dean saying his name, and then quoting Metallica to reach his brother and haul him back. Really special.

But what the hell was that creature? Is that what Matthew Bosun turns into? Or is it what is helping him?

And sheesh - won't that idiot bar bloke ever take no for an answer?

The plot, as they say, thickens....

Hmm - how much did Dean hear of Sam's memory? That was so sad - I could feel my own eyes burning.

So, Dean smelled the Pit, and then Sam found a lovely collection of intestines in the wardrobe? Yecchhh! This bloke is a nutter.

Hope the tests turn up something concrete for the boys.

Poor Sam! Not only waking up with a hangover and a healthy dose of "what the hell happened last night" but to have his brother - er - banging away on the wall in the other room must have just added insult to injury - LOL.

Like the Star Wars analogy. And had to laugh when the ghost unlocked the door for them. But I have a strange feeling that the party is about to get rough, and the boys might just need every ounce of their skills, demonic and otherwise, to combat this particular foe.

What a revelation! So it wasn't John, but a good friend of his, and who knew the boys.

And the murderer is none other than the Boss Man's own son - and he's going after hunters! Suddenly this doesn't sound too good for our boys.

And man, that bar bloke doesn't know when to give up, does he? That's twice Dean has laid him out - wonder if he will try for third time lucky?

Loved the whole Sam wanting to run out to the car park like his arse was on fire when he ran into the FBI agents at the police station. And had to have a giggle at the young woman giving him her phone number.

And to top it all off, Dean's hand appearing from between the two beds and trying to convince a clearly disbelieving Sam that he hadn't fallen off the bed - that was priceless. I was wavering between believing Dean and believing Sam, right up till Sam stepped on the missing spring. Loved Dean's sarcastic comment there.

And Sam saw John! So the shoe was on the other foot when Dean didn't believe him. But who is that in the room? Is it John? Or is someone else from their past?

Great job on this - full of lovely quirky humour which I adore, and sudden jolts that keep me on the edge of my seat.

Oh,no!! Not "Him!"   Great twist on that one.  Gotta say....didn't see "him" coming up outside the bar at least.  And certainly not a tie-in to the case! (BTW.....I'm glad Dean beat him every time!)

Reviewer: saltnburnem (Signed) · Date: 24/01/09 12:13 AM · On: 5: The Part With The Whiff Of The Nasty

Poor Dean.....flashbacks of the pit.  And poor Sam.....remembering Dean's burial.  Tugs at the heart:(

Author's Response: Glad you're enjoying it! Little snippets of info about which bits are striking a chord are always very welcome! Thanks.

Ha!!  Poor Sammy.....having to wait with Carrie for Dean's escapades to finish!!  Loved it.  It was good for me!!  Good thing Bossman didn't show up at that time!  BTW really enjoying this story!

Reviewer: saltnburnem (Signed) · Date: 23/01/09 10:39 PM · On: 3: The Part With The Conversation About Angels

Too bad even remote relatives end up dead!!  I like the Bossman.....trying to get John to check out his untimely death.  Not sure putting the Feds on his trail woulda been nice if John were still alive, though!  And the boys......getting some doubleMint girl action.  Not a bad thing at all;)

"Well he’s obviously already married, gay, or a closet serial killer"  Love this comment!! Sam probably does just look too good to be true! (MmMm!) And is the ice-cream dude Dad.....or is that too good to be true too?!  *reads on.....*

Never reviewed before but just had to on this one - awesome story, you have got to be one of my favourite writers.  You capture the mannerisms of the Sam and Dean we see on the show brilliantly and don't go over board with the 'chick-flick' moments. Brilliant touch of humour, gotta love those eye rolls. can't wait for your next story.

Author's Response:

Wow, thanks! I have an allergy to chick-flick moments myself but I do notice they creep in from time to time, LOL.

Thanks very much for reading and reviewing - and the stars! Gotta love stars, LOL.

This was good. I usually shy away from WIP but something about this one drew me in. Well-written, suspenseful, humorous in part, and you kept the boys in character. What's next?

Author's Response:

Aw, thanks. Looks like I'm still writing for a while, then.

Cheers!

Truly, you have a very unique and entertaining way of telling a story -- And I Soooo look forward to your next one, so don't you stop!

Do not -I repeat- DO NOT give up writing! You are an awesome writer, and this story proves it.

One of the best stories I've read. I loved every minute of it. 10/10

Author's Response:

Aw, thanks! What a fantastic review! I'm going to be glowing for a week, LOL.

I'm re-thinking my position on the giving up thing.

:)

Thanks!

please, please don't give up writing. Your descriptions are so vivid, you paint pictures with your words I can always see every scene clearly, that's a talent not many people have. If I had an ounce of your ability all I'd do all day is write and horde my reviews, as it is I have to rely on people like you to help me escape real life.

desperate pleading over, an excellent end to an excellent story thankyou for writing

Author's Response:

Right then, all I'm going to do from now on is sit at home and write, and then horde my reviews as they come in.

Seriously, ta very much for your kind words here. And thanks for always reading and reviewing, and of course the stars are lovely. Better than pie!

I am determined to get my arse in gear and keep up some form of writing.

:)

Thanks!

Oh don't you dare give up writing,  you she-devil!  Your stories are like a light in my life!  lol.

I actually checked out your live journal page or whatever you call it (I'm sort of internet retarded) and I've got to say I wish I'd met you while I was living in England.  I think we would have been best friends.  lol.  Seriously.

So when's your next story coming?  :)  You'd better have another one in the works.  Otherwise I'll go through withdrawal.

Author's Response:

I do have another one in the works, but it's been scrapped cos I just couldn't seem to raise the spirit to do owt with it. However, I had a flash of inspiration a few nights ago and have started a new one. A very new-new one. I'm hoping it's going to go over well. Crossing my fingers, in fact.

Thanks for your kind words and your support here. And I apologise for any naughty words you may have seen on the LiveJournal / Blogger page, LOL.

Cheers m'dear!

Hello... I don't think I've read anything of yours as yet, but this one has intrigued me, so I've been patiently waiting for its completetion so I can take a peek.

And I'm intrigued, right from the start. Especially with that last bit - oh my gosh, it is John! What on earth are the boys going to do when they find out?

I did have quite a few chuckle-moments as well. You have a great style, blending tenseness with sharp humour, such as Dean's knockout punch to the bloke in the bar, or his gaze wandering off without a leash.

Have to rush off to work, but I'll be back over the next few days as time permits and read a few more chapters. I can't wait to see where you are going to take this.

Jules
