Awh. Poor boys. Hope that wasn't really Christmas Eve. For if John didn't even realise his boys might have frozen to death in a little while longer I bet he wouldn't remember it is Christmas at all. What a terrible way to spoent every child's favourite time of year... And Dean. Not even harrassing his dad for being away so long or being chilled to the bone! That boy is a grown up in a boy's wrapping... Aw. Wanna hug him till he is warm and comfy. Ilka
Author's Response: Well, I don't think they'd have actually frozen to death... It was just really fucking cold and lonely. I was cold and sleep deprived, sitting in front of a train station at 4 in the morning when I wrote that, so that's probably the source of the misery...:) Nothing miserable about getting all these lovely reviews, though... I'm all warm and glowing :)

Heeeheee. Cute and funny. If Bobby comes in there is always humour entering the boys' hard lives. Babysitting. That job will only end with either the Winchester or Bobby's death - hopefully both in decades ahead... maybe in 2087? Ilka
Author's Response: Yup, babysitting is one dangerous gig. And not just if the children are Winchesters.... :) Thanks for reading...

Creepy John-scene. Wonder if that critter -whatever it was... maybe you write a story about it?? For the challenge? - actually was dead... Creepy. Christmas certainly doesn't hold sharing and caring or happiness for the Winchesters... Ilka
Author's Response: Hmm, don't tempt me.. I promised myself I'd work more on my original stuff once this was done...I promised! Get thee behind me plotbunny! Thnaks again for reading! :)

Great update! The Winchester way of magic card tricks. Magic is always the best way to impress small kids! The mysterious way of putting weapons back together is definitely one trick wee!Dean wants to learn. If only to bond with his dad. Wonderful smiling scene. Loved it... again. Cheers, Ilka
Author's Response: Thank you, and thanks for sticking with me on this little thing :) I actually creeped myself out a little with this one. It's kinda sweet, but at the same time.... guns? That's just fucked up....

I love this one. Such an awesome little snippet.
Author's Response: Thanks, I have to admit I'm about as effective a baby sitter as Bobby, myself :)

This is so amazing , I like the way you reduce everything to a minor 100 words!!! this deserves all the stars in my Belgium sky
Author's Response: Ah thank you, I' very glad you like it. I'm really enjoying the 100 words rule... apparently I have an OCD streak to rival Sam's :)

hee hee! can just picture the expressions, wee!dean pulling that lovely face and poor bobby trying to keep his gravitas... (word of the week...) the contrast between four year old sammy and eight year old dean is lovely - sammy so innocent and mischievous at the same time, dean so world weary and sardonic. great!
Author's Response: Yup gravitas is a good'un :) And bloody hell, is writing children hard!

aw, poor john. still makes me shiver, this one - such a sense of frustration and loneliness. love it!
Author's Response: Glad you like it. I recon John's got some hunting-traumas of his own, marine training or no...

hee hee - bonding over the guns! and aw - those smiles! how do you bring a tear to my eye with SMILES?! lovely hun - have a feeling I'm gonna be saying that a lot over the next few weeks... cal
Author's Response: Well, I never get tired of hearing it ;) Bonding over meditative gun cleaning just seemed like such a delightfully sysfunctional thing to do, I couldn't resist :)

Aw poor John. And the kids being dragged from one place to another. Such a rough way to grow up. No warmth. No real home. And I bet there have been many forgotten Christmasses. Forgotten by John or pushed to the back of the mind by the kids. Christamasses spent on dangerous hunts. Coming home bleeding and instead of a tree and gifts it was tylenol and stitches or worse. Aw. Sad, sad childhood. Can't wait to open the next "door". Cheers, Ilka
Author's Response: Yup, it's pretty much poor everybody, huh. I promise not all the drabbles are suicidally depressing :) Again, thanks for reading :)

Hi ya. Cal just told me to check out your drabbles. And I gotta say, she hasn't promised too much. You rock. I love advent calendars (they are big in Germany). And to have a SN calendar is still better than those with chocolate... Dean and Sam on a daily basis. Yummy. My heart ached for the boy. It always does for wee Dean. He's such a sweet boy. Curling up with his brother in the worn, warm cushions, Dad's jacket cocooned around them both. So sad. So lonely. So cute and heartwrenching. Crushed. *sniffles* On to next one and roll on the others... Ilka aka RC
Author's Response: Thanks, I'm flattered. *blushes* Advent calendars are big in Iceland, too. Anticipation is such a lovely thing :) And Sam and Dean are better than chocolate. Only marginally, though...

and again, you're making me feel tired with this one! you can feel his weariness, with the life he's only half chosen, with the grief that's so clearly driving him. there's almost a sense that he regrets never seeing this place in the daylight, and a real feeling of hopelessness. this is one of the damn cold ones then? Catch ya tomorrow for another one! cal
Author's Response: Weariness is a bitch, innit? Just leaches everything else away. I'm so glad you liked this one, it's one of my favorites :) And thanks again for your help with these things.... :)

You captured John's sad world in just a few lines-OUTSTANDING!!! Dean's recollection-him and Sammy covered by John's leather jacket and his father's fearful voice- Excellent beginning-MORE PLEAE!!!!! BRAVO!!!
Author's Response: Gosh, now that review is going to keep me grinning for a long time! Thank you so much for reading, I'm happy you liked it. John is just such an interesting puzzle, I can't leave the poor man alone :)

Dude! You are able to catch those perfect details in a net of concise wording and lay them out in impeccable order. Short review: LOVELY! :D :D *Glomps*. Beautiful so far. *Goes to read next drabble* :)
Author's Response: *preens* Thank you so much, I'm very glad you liked it... that one gave me a nasty headache,...
