Oh god... can just see him sitting there staring at the cookies, Dean oblivious for  moment as he flirts with the waitress... love the images in the opening line - three moments with massive impact from that scene.

fantastic! wish there were more days til christmas...

Author's Response:

Oh, I wish that too... I've shamefully neglected my Christmas chores in favor of reading and writing- now if I could only bring myself to feel guilty about it... lol

As always: greatly appreciate the r'n'r :)

for someone who said they didn't really like writing john, you seem to have enjoyed it this time! and they're great, really looking at the different sides of his character and what made him the way he is. there's a real progression in him in theses drabbles - from the angry, scared, grieving husband, through his abdonment of his family and self to hunting and back again to the quiet, sorrowful man who'd do anything for his boys.

Next!

Author's Response:

Well, you see I actually love writing John... it's just slightly annoying how he manages to squeeze himself into every single fic I write....

No, but seriously- love John!

oops, missed a few, sorry! mass reviewing session to follow...

aw, poor dean. all alone. love the 'hallmark shitabout snow and baby reindeer' - so, so like him it's perfect! and then the empty space beside him, the image of  his gaze 'lingering on the cold and silent spot' - brings tears to the eyes!

great! - right - next one...

Author's Response:

Hey, no worries- they're all there to read at your leisure :) And mass reviewing sessions make my inbox look delightfully full- how fun!

Oh wow.  This one is simple yet gut-wrenching.

Author's Response: Phew, I'm very glad you like it- the bloody thing gave me one monster headache writing it.

hee hee - still love it! great little glimpse of 'normal' sammy, can just imagine him all tongue-tied and nervous. great!

Author's Response: Thanks so much :)  I figured it was time for one misery-free one :)

*shivers* can feel that sinking sensation in the pit of his stomach... the anticipation so much worse than the event. fantastic!

Author's Response: Thank you. That must have been a seriously hard time for everybody... so naturally, I love it :P

Heeee. Too cute. And by the way. You do kids pretty damn well! I work as a teacher in Germany and particularly this and the one with tin foil angel are very close to reality!

And I love your John. I feel the same way about him. I like him but his parental gifts just don't really show.

Keep posting. I will review the rest of em soon as I have time. Pretty busy time before Christams at work and at home.

Cheers, Ilka

Author's Response:

Thanks, so glad I'm not making a fool of myself with the kids :) They've been quite the challenge, but really fun :)

Yeah, I belive Christmas would be busy for a teacher... it always was when I was at school, anyways:) Good luck with everything and thanks for reading :)

This one was VERY moving. There's something about it that just got to me. I think this is my favorite....err....second favorite.....

Oh hell... they can share the first place as long as they don't start bickering over who gets the trophy :)

Author's Response:

There's a trophy? Is it chocolate?! *perks ears and wags tail*

Thakns for readnig ;)

A little eerie, but very nice. Such a spiteful little boy.... *sighs in regret*

Author's Response: Yeah, issues are starting to crop up.... More issues, I mean :) Thanks for reading :)

I'm gonna leave you some stars for the lovely collection of drabbles you've made here... and is expanding :)

Author's Response:

Yup, it's a marathon :) Yay stars! Thanks :)

Wonderful drabble. Nice read and oddly enough it fits with the spirit of the season.

(Don't mock me for being jolly)

I liked it. Keep it up :)

Author's Response: Thank you, I'm very glad you liked it. And the word 'jolly' makes me jolly, so no mocking- people in glass houses and all that :)

I just love these!  I'been reading along....but just got around to commenting.  Great job on giving us tiny glimpses into the tattered past of the Winchesters!  I like the variety...the somber, the bitter, the injured, the quiet.....they've all been great.

Author's Response: Thanx so much for that :) And thanks for commenting...  I just love being able to start the day grinning like a fool :)

Author's Response: oh, and cool name :)

Reviewer: calUK (Signed) · Date: 13/12/08 02:14 AM · On: December 1997

It does! lovely link between them, with just that little hint of what's to come in the last line making it a little more ominous... fantastic!

Author's Response: Thanks so much. I always do love the pool hustling scenes. LOVED them tag-teaming in I know what you....

Reviewer: calUK (Signed) · Date: 12/12/08 02:45 AM · On: December1996

oh yeah. still makes me laugh, this one! love the image of poor dean, doped to the gills, having a staring match with a cardboard santa. he he! fantastic...

Author's Response: Glad you liked it... I figured it was time for Santa to make an apperance :)

Reviewer: calUK (Signed) · Date: 11/12/08 05:24 PM · On: December 1995

*grins* and there's the antitode to day-before-yesterday's scary!sam! fantastic moment of (almost!) normalcy. Cleaning knives, and i just bet it's thundercats playing on the TV in front of the sofa... dean watching, trying to distract sammy. lovely! (lost count now...)

Author's Response: Hehe, it's the volatile Winchesters... either, or! :)

Reviewer: calUK (Signed) · Date: 11/12/08 05:22 PM · On: December 1994

aw! so sad, this one, without actually having a single sad phrase in it! once again, wonderfully vivid imagery - that water, tainted, swirling round the plughole, sammy and john behind him as he clings onto the sink... powerful, powerful stuff!

Author's Response: Thanks for that! This one gave me one hell of a run-around... I still might edit it a bit... yeah I know, OCD...

Reviewer: calUK (Signed) · Date: 11/12/08 05:20 PM · On: December 1993

oops - missed a few days. sorry! but wow - what a way to come back to them! scary, scary!sam... *shivers* can just see them in the mirror - arms and legs all tanlged up (lovely image!) dean sleeping, drooling all over sammy, who's staring back... eek! but wow!

Author's Response: Hey, thanks so much for all the rnr-ing, always puts a big stupid grin on my face :) I'm glad you're enjoying these :)

Reviewer: birdie (Signed) · Date: 09/12/08 06:51 AM · On: December1992

Hey Hun.

I like the drabbles. Like the dissonance of the subjects that have a subtle thread of odd disfunctionality that hold them together.

I especially like the "sammy brings home an angel' one. It has a surreality that is engaging and I can so see John's perplexed expression as he tries to avoid eye contact with his nemeis...his concience!

There is a lot of subtle undertone here in a few short words as well as glimpses of humour and I'm glad you shared them.

Bev xx

Author's Response:

Heya!

I'm very glad you like them so far. I'm finding this drabble form really enjoyable, guess  it appeals to my obsessive nature...

Thanks for the comment, it's got me grinning ear to ear. I just hope you enjoty the rest :)

ps. love the word perplexed! One of my favorites .... :)

Reviewer: calUK (Signed) · Date: 09/12/08 04:25 AM · On: December1992

aw, like that. the idea of his fight being his prayer, and it working.. fantastic! And for someone who doesn't like John all that much, you're creating a real depth of character through these drabbles, exploring the darker side of what keeps him going.

Roll on tomorrow!

Author's Response:

Thanks for that, thought I'd pipe in on the whole faith issue which sees to be this season's theme.... :)

I do like John! I love him. I just also think he's a total arse :) Unfortunately I seem to have a soft spot for arses, which does not bode well for my personal life... *gulps*

"Depth of character" is just the awesomest compliment to get. Way to make my day, dear. Thanks! :)

Reviewer: calUK (Signed) · Date: 08/12/08 01:34 PM · On: December 1991

wow. fnatastic, fantastic drabble - you found a way straight into the heart of this little scene, the tension in dean and sammy's apprehension come across so clearly, it leaves me breathless. that last line is a killer. fantastic! (again...)

Author's Response: *Grins hugely* Thanks so much! I figured since it's the year Sam finally finds out the truth, he might as well start paying attention... :)

Reviewer: calUK (Signed) · Date: 07/12/08 12:42 PM · On: December 1989

hee hee - angels over mac and cheese - the heavenly and the mundane, brilliant! and i can just see the expression on it's (lopsisded...) face

Author's Response:

Well, somebody's gotta bring Christmas to the household... might as well be a misshapen angel, huh? :)

Reviewer: calUK (Signed) · Date: 07/12/08 12:41 PM · On: December 1988

*shivers* beautiful! gorgeous descriptions - 'smelling of kerosene, frost and ashes' and then that last line... poor boys, left behind int he cold...

Author's Response: Thanks. You may have noticed I have a teeny obsession with smell..... :)
