That's the best Christmas gift a Winchester could ask for (aside from skinmags and whiskey).

A fabulous collection!  I'm so glad I stumbled upon them!!

Author's Response: Well, I'mm glad you did, too. And very happy you liked them :) You totally made my day, reviewing each on. Thanks for that! :)

I agree.  It's spooky how companies incorporate their logos with Santas and angels.  Like that will make people buy more stuff.

Funny that the angels made Dean look for Uriel.  Hee!

Author's Response: Yup, that's just bad taste... but, well. Since when did that stop people?

Hmmm.... this one really made me stop and think.  Glad I wasn't one of Sam's tastebuds.

Author's Response: Yeah, cigs and egnog can't be nice. I just always liked the idea of Meg's posession leaving a physical trace. I figured you can't have somebody smoking in your body for a week and not develop a weakness for the things...

Very expressive!  Especially "corpses closer to soil than humanity."

Author's Response:

Funnily enough, I fist wrote this as Sam, but it just wouldn't work. Then I switched to Dean, and it just fit.

Glad you liked it :)

Fantastic!  this piece was so visually and emotionally descriptive.  I had no idea what could cause such upheaval until the end when he remebers Jessica's plate full of love.

Author's Response: Yeah, for some reason, I've been fixating on those damn cookies since the pilot... finally got it out of my system:) Thanx for the r'n'r :)

A lovely memory.  You've captured both the liveliness of love and the heartbreak of loss.

Author's Response: Thanks! I really love the idea of John and Mary as a young couple. They must have been something, for John to still be grieving 20 yrs later...

Hauntingly lonely.  Beautifully written.

Author's Response: I'm glad you liked it. It gave me no end of trouble. Just wouldn't come together....

Awww!  How cute!

Author's Response: :)

Great!  I feel the lump of terror in my throat.  I can imagine how horrifying it was to watch his son leave and yet be too damn stubborn to call him home.

Author's Response: Thanks... poor John's really backed himself into a corner with the whole thing I guess...

I also wanted to compliment you on comparing the instability he feels within his family with the shifting floorboards of the collapsing building and how that robs him of any sense of direction.

Author's Response: Thanks for that1 I figured it was an appropriate metaphore :)

Woo hoo!  I live in Iowa!  I love that it's mentioned so frequently on the show!

Okay, story, review.  Tragically beautiful!  We all know what happens yet everytime we see the pain it causes Dean, our hearts break.

Author's Response: Heheh, you're not the first Iowan to make this exact comment :) I've never been to the states, but I just really like the word Iowa... is that weird?

Skid row Mistletoe doesn't sound too bad but I don't think I would order anything called Santa's Rash.  Ewwww!  That just conjures up all sorts of wrong.

Author's Response: Heheh :) I was going to go with Ron Jeremy's Mistletoe, but that was just too skeevy :)

Fabulous!  Another awful Christmas for the Winchesters.  The ambulance being compared to Christmas lights was a clever idea.

Author's Response: Thanks for that :)

Fabulous!  "a perfect imitation of innocent enthusiasm."  A great line!  I also loved "Dean he could always hear."  That really shows how intune to Dean Sam is.

Author's Response: Thanks so much! I just love them hustling. LOVED the scene where they team up in s4. What a ruse :)

Hee!  Apparently not the most pleasant Christmas.  I liked Dean's thought concerning Sam's attempt at cheering him.

Author's Response: Yup, I'd say more creepy than comforting :)

Yay!  One of the rare moments that a father isn't resented by his teenage son.  Wonderful!

Author's Response: Heheh, glad you liked it. I had to allow them to get along a little bit :)

Eww!  My stomach clenched as I realized what Dean is about to do.  Not something I could do.  I'd end up passed out on the floor.

Author's Response: Yeah, me too. One of the more twisted aspect of the Winchester family, I'd say :)

Oh my!  My breath caught in my throat at Sam's unexpected resentment.  Wow!  That really caught me off guard.  Was this Dean's first hunt?

Author's Response: Hm, I hadn't decided :) Mostly, I liked the idea of them being out in the peaceful sunrise, but that the reason they're there in the first place can be something to spark resentment.

How very touching!  It's so sad that John has lost his faith and his connection to a god in whom he once believed.  I was fascinated by the way you explained how he viewed prayer now.

"But he can pray like this, now, with fighting words in dead languages, telling evil he'll kick it's ass. His Amen is “Go to hell”, and it really does keep the dark away."  This last passage really had punch---so well written and perfectly expressed.

Author's Response: Thanks for that. I think it's so fascinating how Dean has so much trouble believing in God, while using what are essentially very old prayers on almost a daily basis and watching it work. I mean, if there isn''t a god, then why would demons flinch at his name? Where would that power come from?

Brilliant!  I love the dynamic between the family members, how they read one another.

Author's Response: I think all the roundabout and indirect ways they communicate are one of the most interesting things about the Winchesters... it's just so challenging to try and write it :)

You've takne a moment that is generally referred to off screen and brought it into the forefront of the Winchesters' lives where it actually was.  Kudos!

Author's Response: Thanks... mostly I was very cold and very tired when I wrote that... :-/

Reviewer: Shannondoah (Signed) · Date: 30/03/09 04:07 PM · On: December 1989

Ooooh!  Very interesitng!  It wasn't what I expected John to think but I love it!

Author's Response: Thanks for that. I'm very glad you like this one. It was the first, and kinda my favorite.

Reviewer: Shannondoah (Signed) · Date: 30/03/09 04:06 PM · On: December 1988

Funny!  Just like a typical big brother to have the last word.

Author's Response: Thanks. I was surprised how much fun I had writing them as kids... I had kinda been dreading it :)

Too funny!  An awkward introduction to what will someday be a strong familial bond.  Thanks for giving us this sneak peek.

Author's Response: heheh, you're very welcome :) I love the idea of Bobby trying to be a "proper" babysitter :)

Very good!  A view inside John Winchester's secretive, tricky mind.

Author's Response: Thanks muchly... it is a tricksy mind to try andpeek into :)
