Another wonderful POV.

I adore the flashback story about Dean and the girl in the park. Even then he was the hero. And Sam remembered that so clearly.

Thank you for writing!

Holy crap, I really did shed a tear.  That was terrific the way you captured Dean's agony over what he had done.

Brilliant! I'm so glad the little voices in your head wouldn't let you rest until you got this one out.  That last scene made me want to jump into the TV and comfort Dean and Sam.  Sam's words to Dean were perfect!  He used every tool in his kit---anger, challenge, puppy dog eyes.  i luuuuuved it!

Their tears always make me cry....

This is what was needed after that gut-wrenching scene at the end of Heaven And Hell. Dean baring his shredded soul, and Sam trying to come to grips with what his brother had gone through. And the aftermath.

I really love Sam's earnest talk - trying to convince the brother he'd always looked up to that he was worthy - that he was worth saving, despite what had happened to him. And Sam is right - getting Dean to torture souls was in itself a worse form of torture for him - he'd given his very life to save another, so the perfect torture would be to have him destroy souls in an endless nightmare of blood and screams and unadulterated pain.

Thank you for extending this wrenching scene beyond what we got to see on the screen. I hope that flame continues to grow, fanned by his brother's love.....Jules

“You’re a fighter, Dean. The kind of fighter that just keeps taking the beating ’cause he won’t give in, can’t give in because there’s so much on the line if he does. They couldn’t beat the fight out of you, so they just attacked somewhere else; your compassion.” - Loved that line and how true is it.  Thanks for the great read to go with my morning coffee - Kel ;)

Author's Response:

Thanks Kel... That line just flowed out.. just seemed like something Sam would say to help bolster Dean up...

Glad it went well with your coffee-- LOL

I can see the episode ending this way, a poignant, emotional missing scene. Beautifully done Tree.

Author's Response: Thanks soooo much Oceane- I'm always so glad that you like what I write.

Just loved it. Dean seemed so broken but here there seems to be a bit of a spark to him. I hope with Sam's help he can overcome what happened to him. Excellent!

Author's Response: Yeah- I think thats the beauty of Dean - he can be broken but not out for the count. Thats what I was trying to portray with this story.

Ah!!!  I needed that closure, too!!  That last scene was so painful....and we were left sitting there watching Dean weep.  It felt like an open wound! :(  Your story is like balm!!  THanks!  Good job!

Beautiful.  Wish the show would give us one tiny glimmer of hope.  Guess I just have to rely on fanfic writers for that.

Author's Response: Hi there Kim.. thanks for reading... and yes- I too am hoping that Kripke will give us some glimmer of hope when the show comes back in January.

Awesome! I like the take on this...didn't think about it being another form of torture for Dean. But you're right. It would be worse than the physical. Thanks! Very creative and well written. Can't take much more angst than that!

Author's Response: There's kinda a secret little part of me- that says Dean would never do that- not even to save himself- and that what happened in Hell was all just some trick or ploy to mess with him... *sighs* but I guess we'll have to wait and see..

Reviewer: turch (Signed) · Date: 26/11/08 11:42 PM · On: ... the dying flame...

Oh yeah, I feel better too. Excellent job! Beautifully written.

Author's Response: Thanks turch... funny how much everyone was looking for closer to that scene... I'm glad I wasnt the only one.

Yea! Go Dean!  This was awesome, i love how Sam could always comfort Dean, and this is when he needs it most.  Great Job!

Author's Response: I know.. AJ - arent we all just sorta rooting for the guy to snap back...

This was an awesome tag to that episode.  That final scene tore my heart out and stomped all over it.  I didn't realize how much I needed this until I read it.

Thank you.

Author's Response: I know what you mean, Vanessa. That scene haunted me as well... hence the NEED to write this tag.

I owe you forever for writing this, amazing, the addition I needed so much! So many special lines here as Sam's "you don't have to do this alone, I'm here for you, however, whenever you need. Just like you always been for me" - just wonderful; and Red's great song the perfect frame! Really hope it will be this way for them. You certainly made me feel better, thank you so much!

Author's Response:

I'm glad you thought I captured the relationship well... I too hope Kripke gives us some version of resolution to this scene.

and yes... Red's song fit so perfectly...
