Very touching and moving...my mother grew up in an abusive home...her father beat her mother, she's told me enough about her past that i know the cold feeling of helplessness quite well. Very strong story. Very well done.

"Practice is hope's enemy."  One of the many powerful statements in this story!  You have such an expression of emotion and purpose in your words.  the war of who she is chained to be warring with the woman she dares to hope to be is exquisite.  Phrases like "dead laugh" are such an onxymoron and describe her imprisonment so completely.  I love the end where Dean restores her sense of power when he tells her that she saved herself.  An amazing piece!!
