Well, I just read this story and great day! I hope Sam takes Dean to a hospital. I don't think Sam can help him by himself. Dean's injuries sound to severe. I look forward to reading the sequel.

This story is really interesting.  It's so sad that it was John that finally broke Dean, though certainly no surprise.  John's odd parenting style with Dean is quite obviously the chink in Dean's armour -- which is why (I would imagine) the demons are always taunting Dean and torturing him with Dean's own doubts about his father loving and needing him.  Great exploration of Dean's weaknesses here.

One thing, though -- you keep using the word "captive" when I think you mean "captor."  Dean's the captive -- his captors are the witch and her posse.

I know Dean is in big trouble, but why does the last 2 paragraphs with Sam feel like the calm before the storm?

OK you have my attention 100%. I really really want to know what's going on. It's odd enough that the barman knows of hunters let alone that he recognises them so easily and has heard of the Winchesters enough to hold them in awe. But who the h*** is the woman and what is her problem? How dare she beat Dean black and blue and torment Sam so? I want her found and all that she has done to Dean done to her!

If next update really does come in a day or two, I promise not to include you in my desires for retribution, I may even send virtual chocolate instead.

Oh boy, Sam has two weeks to find Dean. In two weeks that bitch can do an awful lot of damage, but then I guess that's the idea.
