I really like this story, for a lot of reasons. I think you have Dean down perfectly, some of the stuff you have him saying makes me laugh out loud. Especially all of the stuff when he is thinking or talking to himself. I also like that you show Sam kind of treating his brother like crap while he was at Stanford and kind of after. I think that is probably accurate with the characters. And Dean's line that it never ceases to amaze him how stupid he became the minute Sam started Stanford. And of course John caring and also being a son of a .... I like your stories. Full of humor and angst.

okay, I have to say that I went on fanfiction to read the end of this story because I couldn't wait. Oh my God John can be such a jerk sometimes!! This so reminds me of his tirade at Sam: "None of this would have happened if you'd shot that damned thing when you had the chance!"
Doesn't he realize the damage he does to his kids when he throws accusations at them like that, laying the blame for things beyond their control at their feet?!?
Awesome chapter. I feel like you've really captured the softer and meaner side of John, both at the same time.

Oh my God! This is so funny and sad and tragic and awesome -- everything rolled into one.
I am completely fascinated with the whole Stanford years thing -- like how our sweetie Sam could have broken off contact with Dean for so long and why. You've done a great job exploring that.

The only good thing he could think of about caves was how easy it was to avoid going into one. You stood outside in the daylight and looked inside and said, ‘Sure enough, a cave’ and you backed the fuck away, waving anyone who wanted to right in front of you - I am in totally agreement here. ;)
