Reviews For Hunter

This was awesome. Love Sam and Dean kicking some ass and as usual I loved Dean taking care of Sam.

Author's Response:

I had the idea for this while my auntie and I were away on a short holiday, but with one laptop between us, I just picked at the general outline until we got back home.

But I wanted to showcase the hunter skills of both boys, and what better way to do it than to separate them and have one hunted.

I thought at the time that Sam's skills had been a bit under-estimated by some fanfic writers, and of course Dean's tracking talents are always a joy to behold. So I bundled it all together, shoved it at my muse, and she hit me back with this.

So glad you enjoyed it.

Congratulations! You have been rec’ed at spn_littlebro on LiveJournal.

You can find the rec in the Injury Theme post here:

http:/spn-littlebro.livejournal.com/4308.html

Author's Response:

Thank you for the rec - it is very much appreciated.

I hope that you enjoyed the story. I tried to showcase the boys' talents - Sam's as a hunter and hunted, and Dean's as a tracker.

Another great story!   I really liked how you portrayed Sams hunting skills and showed that he was a Hunter in his own rite and not just Dean's shadow.

Author's Response:

Thank you, Marcia,

As I said to Terry, I think people sometimes tend to underestimate Sam's skills because he does live in Dean's shadow a bit. And possibly because he was usually the one being rescued in season one at least. But in Sam's defence, he was a little rusty back then - lol.

I think I wanted to showcase both brothers in this story - Dean's skill as a tracker and Sam's ingenuity in a tough spot. And it's the combined skills of both brothers that makes them such an awesome team.

So glad you liked this so much.

Wonderful story!!!  I really enjoyed reading each and every chapter of this story!!!  I'm glad that Sam was able to keep his wits about him while he was injured.  I think that made the difference in him being able to hold on as long as he did.  I'm so happy that Dean never gave up on finding Sam.   I'm glad those bastards weren't able to finish what they started.  When will people learn that you can't win when you mess with the Winchesters?

Author's Response:

Hi, and thanks so much for that.

I think sometimes fans - and me included at times - tended to underestimate Sam's skills as a hunter because he was a wee bit overshadowed by his big brother, so this was a chance to showcase that Winchester determination to get the job done at all costs.

I had fun, actually, devising the story and putting together the clues for Dean to track, then filling out the background of how the clues were left behind with Sam's side of the adventure.

And I had an idea that perhaps the hunters who had caught Sam in BDABR might not have given up so easily. Even though Kubrick wasn't in this story, I think he might have easily been directing things from the sidelines. But this lot learned that it certainly doesn't pay to mess with a Winchester.

Thanks again - I'm thrilled that you enjoyed this.

You know I never did really find out why the matteresses (that's spelled wrong I'm pretty sure) were piled up in front of the windows. I don't remember them doing that in any other motel room, what's so special about that one. *shrugs* Anyway, awesome story...again. ;D

Author's Response:

Hmm - I think the mattresses were stacked against the windows to minimise the chance of Gordon finding them and firing a bullet into their heads from outside the room. Well, that's my guess, anyway. Or to stop Gordon from ploughing through the windows himself. And Dean used one of the bed frames to brace the door as well, so probably to stop Gordon from breaking in.

Thanks for that - so glad you liked it.

What a wonderful story. I loved how you showed Sam as the hunter he was raised to be, and yet reflected how he differs fm Dean as well. Once the action was over, you allowed Sam to break down, but not into a weeping mess. Then the missing scene at the end? Loved it!!! Thanks so much for the great read!

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for that. And I'm sorry I was so late getting back to reply. Sometimes these things slip past me a little.

Yes, I think that some people tend to underestimate Sam because he's quite emotional. But he was raised as a hunter, the same as Dean, and he has the same skills. The fact that he wears his heart on his sleeve doesn't make him a wuss by any means. In fact, he's possibly just as deadly dangerous as his big brother because of that intense passion that drives his every move.

So chuffed that you enjoyed this - thank you.

Wow, hunters after Sam always scares me! I've tackled this subject myself and it hard to put yourself in the mind of the hunter after Sam- but it's not hard to understand their motives.

This was such a thrill ride girl- loved it!

Gidget

Author's Response:

Thanks Claudia,

I hated Hunted - not because it was a bad episode, but because Gordon went after Sam - and for what he said to the kid just before he tried to stab him after he beat the crap out of him. It was a fantastic eppy, but that line of Gordon's about Sam being no better than the filthy things they hunt just got to me on such a deep level.

So having hunters after Sam scares me too. But I couldn't help wonder whether that pair would have given up so easily after BDABR.

So happy that you loved this....Jules

OOOOHHHH*Ducks and runs* very clever and I thought that that was a new one that you are working on.

You are one hell of a compser in litterature. May I add that I think they should publish all your work as well as others to books and I'd be the first to get them believe me. Thanks this is one of the best ones.

Rating:) 300 +++++

Author's Response: Thank you so much for that. SN fanfiction is the first serious thing I have written, apart from the odd poem here and there. I'm so pleased that you've enjoyed my work. Thank you once again....Jules

Your imaginination can be pertty scary when pissed. Very good though. I applude you.

Author's Response: Lol - thanks. My imagination can be pretty scary most of the time. Thanks for reading - glad you are enjoying it....Jules

I did have a feeling that it was creedly. I did enoy the illusional graphics of how Sam problem became more of a threat to his situation. I do like it though.

Author's Response: Thanks for that. I just wondered whether those two would have given up so easily after Dean got Sam away from them in BDABR....Jules

Hi. I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed this story. I especially loved how you showed Dean and Sam as awesome hunters. Just loved Sam kickin' butt even while wounded. Not really enough stories out there that show him as an equal to Dean and John as a hunter, so thanks for that. I look forward to reading more of your work.

Author's Response: Hi - and thank you so much. Yes, I think people tend to underestimate Sam sometimes, because he's very reluctant to hunt. Not that he can't do it - just that he hates doing it. Both boys have their strengths, and they make one hell of a team. I'm glad I could showcase that aspect, and rather chuffed that you loved it so much....Jules

Very nicely done. I loved the scene between the boys when Sam took out the final hunter, I think a lot of people miss that part about him - despite the fact he was drawn into that world reluctantly he is just as good as Dean and John. They did train him after all.. I liked how you tied it in with the episode and pulled together all the loose ends. And this bit made me grin most, cos it was just so 'Dean':

Dean rolled his eyes and resumed his slightly uneven walk to the car. "Peachy. I just got the mother of all hickeys - from a guy. I'm freakin' fantastic." His lips twisted in disgust.

"Vampires don't care what sex you are, Dean - they just want to feed."

"Oh, that makes me feel so much better."

Great job :)

Author's Response: Thank you, hon. And I agree - Sam is a good hunter, he just doesn't enjoy it. But he's well trained for all of that - and of course, if Dean is threatened, look out! Oh - I always did wonder what went through Dean's head after Gordon bit him - and was I the only one who found that little scene rather gross? LOL...Jules

I seem to have got distracted and forgot I was reading this one *facepalm* At least I have the finished version to look at now though, after that huge cliffhanger! Loved how you showed how good the boys are at what they do, even when working alone, and I can't wait to see what happens next. I particularly liked this line, as I love Sam when he's in protective mode:

If they really had hurt Dean, Sam silently vowed, then they'd just guaranteed themselves a status change from hunter to prey.

Author's Response: Ohh - thanks, Michaela. And I lost track of the reviews - I'm so sorry! Glad you liked it, though - I just wanted to showcase their talents, and their fierce devotion to each other. Hope I achieved it....Jules

Great story!  I really enjoyed reading it.  And a bonus at the end with some missing scenes from Fresh Blood!!  Great Friday night treat for me.

 Thanks!

Author's Response: Thanks so much for that. I'm chuffed that you liked it. And glad that I could brighten your Friday night. Ending the week with the boys isn't a bad way to go!...Jules

Ooh, long chapter, perfect ending. Loved all of it. Sam going into fierce hunter mod, Dean being protective big brother. Loved the part of Dean moving to Sam's bed so little brother would feel safe. The way he thought about Sam being strong, because he kept fighting even when he thought Dean was dead. Sam not wanting to talk about it because he felt he needed to start dealing with things without big brother. You are really an awesome writer and I can't get enough of your stories. I can't hardly wait for your next one. Hugs, Vonnie

Author's Response:

It was a rather long chappie, wasn't it? I had a lot to cram in there, but I couldn't stretch it to a fourth chapter - it would have looked cumbersome and padded out.

Oh, gosh! Thank you. I still get so nervous posting a new story. Don't have the glass of wine to steady my nerves any more - but I do have to have a cup of tea just before I hit that final button. Hugs back to you, and thank you, Vonnie. It means a lot to me to have you along for the ride...Jules

fantastic ending.I love the way you write both brothers, caring but not too girly!

I look forward to Friday nights just as much as Monday nights now.

Author's Response:

Thank you! Lol - don't know about looking forward to Monday nights if the rest of the season is going to be as nail-biting as this week's eppy! Wasn't that heartbreaking? And GNW ran almost ten minutes overtime!!!! Grrrr...

Thanks - I hope I never have the boys too girly - think I'd ask my beta to shoot me first! lol....Jules

Great story! Thanks

Author's Response: And thank you for taking the time to review. Reviews are gold. I'm happy that you enjoyed this. I had fun writing it - it was a bit of a departure from my usual. And something different is sometimes nice to experiment with.....Jules

Another great story---ending it with the last run in with Gordon was cool!! I'll be waiting patiently for your next story---

Author's Response: Thank you, Cheri. I'm so glad you loved it. The tie-in with Gordon was an answer to my own question of what happened the night before, after the boys left the warehouse. Sam seemed a lot calmer the next day, so I figured they had to have had a talk - so I just pretended to be a fly on the wall - lol...Jules

Another great ending to a fantastic story.  Poor Sam--when he hesitated and pointed the crossbow at Dean because he thought the real Dean was dead--that was a tense moment.  And you had to feel for the poor guy.  Same thing when he was having the nightmares at the end.  I loved it when Dean nudged him over and got in bed, letting Sam rest against him.

Looking forward to your next one, as always.

Author's Response:

Thank you, Vanessa. I really appreciate your reviews. You're a fantastic writer, and I'm honoured to have you reading my work.

Yes, I did feel for Sam, even though I was the one who put him through all that...lol. Being hunted like that - it must twist him in knots sometimes. Oh - you liked the big brother sharing the bed scene? I was so glad that came across the way I intended it to. And I just had to add that snarky remark of Dean's the next morning. Thank you again...Jules

great ending Jules, very nice brotherly moments. I will be gone for two weeks, it's family vacation time. But I'll catch up as soon as I will be back. Take care, see you soon...

Author's Response: Thank you, my dear friend. I miss you already, and you've only been gone one day.... Have a wonderful time - hope that man of yours spoils you rotten. See you when you get back....Jules

Well, this was really good. Quite nicely planned, and a bit intense. Really gets the emotions reading the brotherly love. Good Job!!!! Keep it up.....

Pranami :)

Author's Response: Thank you very much. It was great to have you along for this one. I am partial to my happy endings and my brotherly moments. Hopefully I will see you at the next one....take care....Jules

Great ending chapter sorry that it's finished but looking forward to your next story. Thanks for all of them.

Author's Response: Thanks so much. Yes, it was only a short one this time. Sometimes the ideas only lend themselves to a short story. But the new one will be longer, and there are a few long ones on the drawing board. Oh, and it's my pleasure - I am so glad that you like them....Jules

Reviewer: kwater (Signed) · Date: 17/10/08 09:00 AM · On: Epilogue

His brother was a big guy, but Sam usually tried to minimise his height and build so he fitted more easily into a crowd. - I absolutely loved this line and its so true.  Another great one Jules, and as always I look forward to next week - Kel

Author's Response: Thanks so much for that Kel. Yes, I've seen Sam duck down a little - whether that's a Jared trait or a Sam trait, I'm not sure, but it's something I've noticed. Perhaps it is a Sam trait - trying to look unobtrusive - hard to do when you tower over everyone else around you...lol. Hope you like the next one.....Jules
