Oh yay! Glad you showed them meeting! I didn't know this chapter was here until your reply. This seems like an awesome introduction -- and you're right, even at 16, Dean would have been a super charmer, with those expressive, lashy eyes and those full lips, and that cocksure grin. He'd reduce anyone to a puddle. :)
Author's Response: Hi there I originally wrote this story as a one shot and it wasn't until you and someone else mentioned that I hadn't shown that Mary knew Dean's age that I realised there should be a chapter with them meeting. I really enjoyed reading this chapter. Dean truly is jailbait at this point (only 15!), he still probably be jailbait at 16 in most states in the US. Mary should have been very careful. Love the visuals you painted of Dean, swoon.

I really like this chapter! More angst, the more I like! I was surprised John didn't bring up the age card earlier. Most states would still have Dean a minor at 16 when it comes to Dean and Mary's relationship, so the age card would still work even if he was 16. Dean being in love would make him strike out against his dad if he felt his relationship was threatened. That's just natural. Poor Dean, his father and brother just doomed him to a life of loneliness.
Author's Response: HI there Thank you, I did too I just thought that maybe John pushed it too hard and Dean kicked back too hard, how could he forgive his dad for threating the woman that he loved like that, even Dean has a limit. That's why I changed it, watered it down slightly!! In the UK it would be ok as long as both parties are 16. Cheers Mary xx

Still had me tear up. John is really being selfish as well as Sam. So sad, that both will eventually abandone Dean for their own pursuits. I'm glad that Mary understood. John can tell himself all he wants that he is doing it for the "good" of the family, but in truth, it is for him that he is doing this heartbreaking action against Dean. I'm really enjoying your story.

I believe a tissue alert was needed! I was crying by the end of the chapter for Dean. Sam and John really knew how to manipulate Dean to their bidding. My heart just broke when Dean realize he would literally be "stuck" for the rest of his life. How sad that just a few years later, Sam would leave Dean behind for a better future without him. Oh, the irony! I can't believe John actually told Sam to tell Dean that!! Now, this could readily explain Dean's lack of commitment at an older age. Well done!!

I wanted to try and kinda tie it back to canon a bit and I'm glad that you think that it worked, because Dean was stuck and he can't commit because of that. Does Mary know how old Dean is? Just curious.
Author's Response: Hey there A few people have asked me that so I've stuck in a little chapter ( now ch2) to show that she does. It's a Scottish thing, 16 is old enough to get married here so I think we don't tend to think of it as young, although it wouldn't have been me! The age gap in the story is the same as me and my man (6 yrs) and although he wasn't 16 when we met the difference never really meant anything to either of us. Hope this clears things a bit for you. Wow, this is a twist. John is actually giving Dean permission to stay. Sam overhearing this is breaking his heart. I wonder how he felt when his father refused to let him go off to Stanford years later and older than Dean is now. Still wondering if Mary knows that Dean is only 16. I think she would freak!
