WOW!! This is so wonderful. I've been going back through older stories. You write Dean the way I see him. The raw emotion was so overwhelming and heartbreking at times. I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed this peek back in time for the Winchester family. Thank you so much.

Funny, but I am just now rereading this one too, fine tuning it to send it off to be published in a zine and I love looking back at how I wrote Dean and realizing that he is such a real, riveting and intense figure and how much we are still learning about him. Author's Response: I'm sorry. It broke my heart to write this story, but Kripke is the evil one who had Sam leave his family. I was just trying to come to some conclusions about how it all came down, hopefully give them all reasons for how they behaved. At least, we know they did finally come back together. This story is very interesting but i just wanted to say that your definition of mind your p's and q's is wrong. P stands for pint and Q stands for quarts so in bars back in the day, they used to say mind your p's and q's meaning mind your pints and quarts or mind your own drinks ergo business.

The truth is, I never knew what the heck the origins of the saying was so I googled it and that was the explanation I got. I just googled it again and there too was your explanation along with a dozen more! LOL It seems everyone knows what the expression means, but no one knows where the heck it came from. Excellent chapter! But I am upset with John--he shouldn't have lost his cool with Sam! But then they always fought so I guess it was expected
Author's Response: I love John and it is hard to write him being harsh with Sammy, but the show has indicated they had a very tumultuous relationship. With the pressures of Dean's condition, I just envisioned things escalating. I really tried to show all the characters being strong and good, but also show their faults and weaknesses. That just makes them more human, and John is most certainly human and has made mistakes in the past, but he has always loved his sons. Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated. Later, B.J.

What an emotional and poignant conversation between Dean and John. That was hard for Dean to ask his father to kill him if he's turned and for John as well to do the promise he'll do it. Can't wait for more.
Author's Response: Yeah, this whole story put all the Winchesters thru hell. I think Dean wouldn't want to become evil, the thing he hunts, and it would be a terrible thing for him to have to ask his father to spare him that by actually killing him. Thanks for your comments, B.J.

Love the way you depict the conflict between the brothers. True to character, Sam's open honesty and Dean's simmering emotions. This phase in their relationship is touched upon briefly in the series but can't wait to see where you take it!!
