Jules, what a wonderful ending to another great stoy of yours. I really enjoyed it and -as always- I am looking forward to the next one from you. Have a great weekend :)
Author's Response: Thanks Dagmar. So relieved the ending worked out all right. I tend to stress a bit over certain parts of stories. Thankfully I have a beta who won't hesitate to whack me upside the head if I try to tweak too much - lol. You have a great weekend too, when it rolls around....Jules

Drunk!Sam is a joy to watch and read...and i love the chick-flick moment that they have..although Dean would never admit to it. And yup, John is an ass, and i will forever love Sam for following his brother and not his father. :p Can't wait for the next chapter..
Author's Response: Aww, thank you for that. He is rather funny when he's got a skinful. And no, don't tell Dean they had a chick-flick moment - he'd run screaming from the room - ROFL. And yes, I think people are tired of me saying it - John's an ass. There, I said it again. Oh, me too - I'm glad Dean was the major influence in Sam's life. But I think the seeds are there for him to be so much like his father. Little things like asking Dean at the beginning of ELAC about getting revenge - the cold, driven hunter he became in Mystery Spot after Dean died on the Wednesday. I think Dean keeps Sam from going too far down that road....Jules

Aww, Dean! you can't say that to Sam and not make him think that he's the worse brother ever! Sam tends to overthink things...and that's not good!
Author's Response: Sam does tend to over-analyse everything, doesn't he? So do I, actually....*sigh*.... wonder if there's a self-help course we can sign up for. Thanks for reading, and for the pretty stars....Jules

Just started this story...and i love it when there's hurt!Dean and protective!Sam! moving on to the next chapter..
Author's Response: Thank you so much for that. A bit of a switch in roles, but Sam does a good job of being a big brother for a change...Jules

t'Aww, drunken Sam - cute! And that image - of Dean standing in the dark next to the Impala, angry, sad, WOW it's so beautiful and so cleanly written i can almost see the tears in his eyes, not quite falling... roll on next week, and the week after - we'll always enjoy!
Author's Response: Thanks for that. It's sort of become my thing now, hasn't it, this Friday stuff. Seriously, I'd love to write full time, but the mortgage won't pay itself, so updating once a week gives me a bit of breathing space to put final touches on the chapters before posting. It gives my beta a bit of room to move, too, as she works and has a growing family. Real life has to come first sometimes. Thank you so much - chuffed that you liked it so much.....Jules

That was so sweet - just the right amount of emotion while still being 'Winchester'. I'm so glad Dean got the chance to tell Sam the accident wasn't his fault (which it wasn't) and I did giggle at drunk Sam. Although he is going to be the one needing those painkillers in the morning! I think this line amused me most so I'm going to quote it and look forward to the final chapter:) Wincing, Dean sat down on the armchair facing his sibling and held his hand against his injured side. He laid the bowie knife on the low coffee table within easy reach, and made a show of patting his face and chest, trying for humour to break the tension. "Yeah, this is me awake. Look - got my eyes open and everything."
Author's Response: Thank you for that - seriously. I do worry a little when it comes to certain scenes, that I haven't shaved way too close to a sloppy moment. Oh, you liked the this is me awake line? There's another one in a similar vein in the epilogue - hope you like it....thanks hon....Jules

Oh dear, poor Sam really is on a major guilt trip and now Dean has inadvertantly added to it. I am really looking forward to Dean putting him straight though - loved this chapter and Sam taking such good care of his big brother :)
Author's Response: Thanks Michaela - yes, Dean's put his foot in it without even realising. If only his eyes had stayed open a fraction longer, he might have seen that flinch. Thanks for that - Sam makes a pretty good big brother, doesn't he?....Jules

Nice to come back to something good to read :) And you're welcome, I'd totally forgotten that I'd already checked this for you! Worth the second look though as it's really good, as always. Loved Sam taking care of Dean and channeling him at the bar, although I think he was too easy on the doctor. Talk about no compassion.. Off to read chapter 2!
Author's Response: Thanks hon. And yes, you had looked over it, because I was doing my usual chew my fingernails off bit over the final chapter. Ah, the doc. Well, I suppose I could have let Sam channel Dean for a little bit longer and clock him one - lol. Perhaps next time....Jules

Good story. Looking forward to Sam's hangover. Ciao
Author's Response: Thanks for that. Sam's hangover is always good for a laugh - I hope. Thanks for reading...Jules

So here I sit...half out of it...(it's been a really long couple of weeks)...just thumbing through right before I head to bed. A banner catches my eye, and I can't stop staring. Dean...skin... When I look to see who the author is, imagine my surprise to find it was you! I couldn't believe I hadn't caught your newest story...that's the last time I take this long of a break away. Fave line: "Won first game, delib-eraliberly lost second to lure him in." Sam sounds like me when I've poured a few back...I can't say them big words either. And maybe it's because I'm tired, but when you had Sam upset, I started to get upset. Well, I'm glad I was able to catch up to this before your final chapter. Not sure if I'll be able to catch your next update for another few weeks but I'm gonna try darnnit! :) Loves hun and glad to hear you have even something newer on the horizon. Kris
Author's Response: Hey Kris!!! And by the time you read this, you will be off again. No rest for you, and you're not even wicked! Ahh, Dean skin - your inbuilt radar was working fine for that one. Chris didn't even realise he was flashing a bit of belly. (I did...lol) Ooh, glad you caught the mangled big word there. Actually you can thank Sarah for that little thought - I had his speech fairly normal, until her beta notes came back and she said - if Sam is that drunk, would he be talking like that? And that's when the little candle flame went on over my head - I was way too tired for a light bulb - lol. Glad you enjoyed it, hon. Take care....Jules

Julie, great chapter. Sam drunk and hurting not good.........Love when Dean's big brother mode is on. i liked how you had Dean outside trying to calm down; not wanting to wake Sam with his anger toward their Dad. John was an ass! again great story Renee
Author's Response: Thanks Renee. And yes, I agree - John was an ass. His heart might have been in the right place, but his head sure wasn't. And I could only imagine, not just how Dean felt when his dad dumped that huge secret on him, but the horror that Sam must have felt when Dean finally told him. Not only did he have to contend with the fact that his beloved brother might have to kill him, but that his own father told Dean to do it. No wonder Sam took off.....Jules

Fabulous update. The scene with drunken Sam and Dean trying to get him to talk was absolutely top notch. I felt soooo sorry for our Sammy. Loved this chapter.
Author's Response: Thanks Vanessa. I wanted to get a particular tone - that Sam was more or less shutting down on his emotions. Hope it came across that way. And thanks for reading, as always...Jules

Really like it. Have added it to my favorites. Thanks for sharing the stories.
Author's Response: Thank you for that. Hope you like the epilogue - I was a bit worried it was too disjointed - the boys have a bit to talk about...Jules

Okay so in addition to Sam!incharge I have to Drunk!Sam to the list....hehehe...Great brotherly moments. Looking forward to more - Kel ;)

Ah....all that guilt ridden angst...these boys sure know how to torment themselves. - ;) Kel
Author's Response: They do, don't they? I think I cried more over Dean's little speech about not giving in to the demons in the S3 finale than I did at the end. Thanks for reading, Kel...Jules

Okay so a little late to the party, but here nonetheless. Great opening I have to admit, I'm never one for badSam, but give me a taking care of Dean, Sam and I'm in my hayday. Looking forward to more - Kel ;)
Author's Response: Thanks Kel. I'm with you - evil Sam isn't really my cup of tea - kickarse Sam, well that's another kettle of fish altogether....Jules

well, i gotta say, i like drunk Sam. And Dean in full big brother mode. And now you're teasing us two weeks in advance? Damn you!...
Author's Response: I could be teasing you more than two weeks in advance given what my work schedule is going to be like in the next month....sorry.... still luv me? No? No more pretty Dean for me? *sobs*.....Jules

Another absolutely wonderful chapter. Very nicely written. Loved the way Dean tried to get Sam to talk. His worry for his little brother and his anger at his father. Poor Sam, so much torture, so much guilt and really for nothing, because it wasn't his fault. Hope the talk with Dean helped and he still can remember in the morning. He was really wasted after all. Can't wait for next week. Hugs, Vonnie
Author's Response: Thanks Vonnie. Yep, Dean's all for Sam talking but when it comes to his own issues, he could teach an oyster a thing or two - lol. Thanks for reading - hungover Sammy in the final chapter...Jules

Wonderful update, some lovely brother moments. Looking forward to the last chapter.
Author's Response: Thank you for that. Hope they weren't too overdone. It's easy to make the mistake and go over the top with these boys...Jules

That was awesome. Poor Sam, John was such an ass putting all that guilt on him and what he told Dean was just cruel. thanks for making my Friday.
Author's Response: Thanks Amethyst. Once I heard what the big secret was in Season 2, my first thought was - John, how could you have done that to your sons??? And that scene in the hospital when he blames Sam for the accident just made me cringe. Thanks for reading - glad I got it right...Jules

Yay, it's Friday... lol! Awesome update, Jules! I love IMTOD and I always wondered if Dean remembered any of the events at the hospital. I always wished they had gotten back to that topic in the show and let us know more about how Sam deals with the whole situation. I love your way of showing the emotions from both boys. Great work - thank you. Looking forward to the final chapter :)

Sam on a guilt trip---Dean hurt but also worried about his brother--you can't get better then that!! Great job!
Author's Response: Thanks Cheri - glad you're enjoying it. Angst coming up - Sam's got way too much time on his hands now, and of course, he's over-analysing everything....Jules

Love it when Sam has to be the bad ass to help his brother! I really like this.
Author's Response: Thank you for that. Yes, Sam can be a pretty good big brother, can't he? And he's had a pretty good teacher - lol. Glad you enjoyed the little role reversal...Jules

Wonderful update. Oh, Sam's in for a trip down guilt lane... Thanks for posting early! Enjoy your weekend!
Author's Response: Thanks Dagmar. I had a great weekend. The motel overlooks the lake, so we had a lovely view from the balcony. Nice spot to have breakfast - lol. And yep, Sam's headed down guilt lane all right. Hope Dean's hidden the alcohol...Jules

Great update. Poor Sam. feeling all guilty and blaming himself. Enjoy your weekend.
Author's Response: Thanks for that - I had a lovely weekend. Didn't do much, and that included writing, but I've been pounding away at the keyboard ever since I got back - lol. Think I just needed the break to get the muse firing on all six cylinders again. Hope you like the fallout from Dean's little accident...Jules
