I'd agree with that final statement - three was almost invincible.

Really nice moments between the Winchesters, and I loved Dr Gonzales' fussiness and concern when she was making sure that the vehicle John chose was Sammy-safe. Yep, no one is safe from the puppy eyes.

Question though - and please, hun, it's not a criticism by any means - but...."the way he seemed so blessedly unaware of his looks, which in their imperfectness..." imperfection? Hmm.....this Dean woman would have to disagree - shocking, I know. But after watching Sam grow up on screen, and then meeting Jared, I'd have to say that Sammy's downright beautiful. Not classically handsome like his brother, and said brother's alter-ego Jensen, but ruggedly handsome, and with an undeniable sex-appeal. When Jared walks into a room, one can't take one's eyes off him. He has such a presence. And up close, he's absolutely GORGEOUS. Actually, he's gorgeous from a distance, too.

And I'm not the only Dean girl to come away from a meeting with Mr Padalecki thinking that very same thought.

Anyway, as I said, not a criticism, Von - not at all. Just a "huh?" moment. Because I think that Sam's a stunner. One smouldering look from him and I think one's panties would burst into flame......just, you know, making an observation....

Where was I? Oh, right - loved the little celebration that the nursing staff put on, and that was a great little moment between Dr Gonzales and John, when John let his guard down for just a wee bit.

Really sweet how Dean understood Sam-speak, and translated for a very puzzled John. And a huge awwww-moment when the two elder Winchesters' hands met while brushing Sammy's hair back from his face.

Well, that was a marathon for Sam - for all the Winchesters. So glad that Rebekah was truly gone after that spell - I kept worrying about that damned painting, and wouldn't have been surprised had one of the Winchesters sneaked back to the house to burn the thing.

At least, though, it gave Sam and John a chance to reconnect, and that had to be a huge weight off Dean's shoulders. I still remember that look of affectionate relief on his face in Shadow when John was hugging Sam. And it was so typical of Dean that he would understand immediately why Sam was having a little meltdown, and that he knew just the right things to say to bring him out of it.

I hope you had a good Christmas too, hun. What a ride it has been. Oh, and didn't you promise me tissues, chocolate and hugs? I'll have them all now, please - LOL. Especially the hugs.

hugs

Jules

Author's Response: Jules you are absolutely the best. All your comments are so wonderful and it was so much fun to read them. I'm glad you understood my story as it was meant to be. The thing about Sam's imperfection, well I probably should have written that differently. I was trying to say that he isn't the classic beauty Dean is. I was drawn to him from the moment I started watching the show and even though I never met him, I have to agree with you about his presence. In the beginning it was his youthful innocent and the way he portrayed the hurt he felt then it started to be the maturity, the deep feelings expressed with just one look. And his body, well what can I say, I'm a married woman, but one can enjoy without dirty thoughts. He is beautiful and I wish I could met him. Anyway, I hope that clears it up for you. You surprised me though when you said you are a Dean woman, I would have pecked you a Sam girl, like me. Guess sometimes it doesn't make that much difference. Anyway, I really enjoyed this. I hope you will enjoy your Christmas too, maybe even a little Christmas Story from you? The chocolate and tissues have to be virtual, but I hope you can feel the thousand hugs and love I'm sending your way right now. You are beautiful. Hugs, Vonnie

I've said it before, it's a damned shame they killed off Pastor Jim.

I bet he did have a lot to do with Sam's faith - he seemed the type that Sam would easily take to, and whose advice he'd follow. That's a pretty short list, but I feel that Jim Murphy would have been somewhere near the top.

Loved the certainty that Sam felt once he got back to the room and his brother. The instant reassurance that Dean's presence gave him. And the complete trust that Sam had in his big brother.

Looks like he's really going to be all right. And we all know who pulled him through - with a little help from God.

Jules

Author's Response: You are so right, I wish they would have kept Pastor Jim, but hey, we still can put him in if we want to. Anyway, I'm glad Sam's trust came through. And thanks again. Hugs, Vonnie

Lovely moment between John and his youngest, and it was a long time coming. And Dean was right - on some level Sam did hear John when he made his little speech.

Can understand Sam's embarrassment and frustration - it would be so hard for him to be so helpless. And with his innate shyness, having a nurse give him a bath would be like torture.

Hopefully things will keep improving for the youngest Winchester - and for the two older ones, too.

Jules

Author's Response: Things will get better and Sammy needed a good moment with his dad. I'm happy you liked it. Hugs, Vonnie

Wow - I was expecting the old man to turn out like Sam, but I didn't see that coming. He was a spirit, but a benign one.

And how freaky was that, Dean being led back to the room to find it all burned out and stinking of smoke?

Thank heavens for good spirits.

Speaking of good spirits, it was good to see Sam laugh, even if only for a short time because of all the pain he's in. Fingers crossed he keeps improving.

Jules

Author's Response:

Glad I could catch you by surprise. I wanted to show Dean that not all spirits are evil. Thanks once again. Hugs, Vonnie

Ugh, that treatment sounded so damned painful. Thank heavens Dean was there for Sam, helping him go through it.

Could understand Dr Gonzales' confusion - there is something almost magical - or perhaps divine - about the Winchester brothers' bond.

And nice to see that even she's not immune to the puppy eyes.

Thank heavens Sam's improving.

Jules

Author's Response: Well, I'm glad the treatment didn't make you throw up. I can be pretty descriptive, if it is something I've done before. And who could ever refuse puppy dog Sam? Hugs, Vonnie

Thank heavens the motel owner was able to reach Dean.

But is there more to him than meets the eye? Is he a psychic perhaps? And is it just that Dean is so attuned to his family that he had that dream, or was there an outside force at work?

Sam's giving up - Dean needs to hurry.

Jules

Author's Response: There is a lot more to him. And Dean does have a connection to Sam. Hugs, Vonnie

Oh, no, no, no....Dean, don't do it! Sam needs you - it was just the witch!

Like the motel owner, he seems like a pretty practical bloke. Perhaps he might be able to get through to Dean - if he gets a chance.

And oh, Sammy - remembering bits of the last few days and the jacked-up hunt, and thinking Dean hates him.

Those boys - they carry so much guilt around.

This isn't going to go well, is it?

*chews fingernails*

Jules

Author's Response: Quit chewing those nails or do I need to put the ugly tasting medicine on it. No it isn't going well, but I promise you some pretty nail polish if you quit chewing those nails. Hugs, Vonnie

I have a feeling that without Dean, Sam's going to slip back a little....hope I'm wrong...

Oh, Dean - what a place and what a state he's ended up in. This has hit him hard.

And I had a bit of a shiver when John and Pastor Jim were talking about the witch - I hope she's truly gone.

Still uneasy about that portrait...

And about Sammy....

And Dean....

Jules

Author's Response: You really take the worries on and make them your own, don't you. Do you need a hug? My arms are always open. Thank you for getting so into this story. Hugs, Vonnie

So Dean was the real target, and Sam was only the means to an end. The key to unlock the door for Rebekah to return.

OMG!!!!!

Dean is not going to be able to shrug this off easily.

And I'm still wondering about that painting.

Jules

Author's Response: You can quit wondering, it was just Rebekah making the painting so eerie. But Dean is not going to have an easy time. Hugs, Vonnie

Wonderful moments with Sam waking up - and I had tears in my eyes when he finally saw his dad.

The surgery sounds scary - but then, so is Sam's condition.

And we still don't know what Pastor Jim found in that diary that disturbed him so much.

Hmm - too many questions. Reading on...

Jules

oh - that was an awesome moment when the two doctors felt like intruders in their own surgical unit - lol. wait till Sam's fully awake, and they experience the full power of the puppy eyes!

Ju

Author's Response: Awe, thanks, this is so sweet. I wanted to make it all about the family. Hugs, Vonnie

Awwwwwwww....*does a happy twirl on the office chair*....Sammy's awake!

John was right - he and Sam are too much alike, and that's exactly why they butt heads.

Hmm - what has Jim found in the diary that he feels he needs to hide from John and Dean for the moment? Must be pretty damned horrible for the pastor to keep secrets.

Question - twice-cooked pork? That sounds....well.....a bit yucky, actually - sorry hun. But it sort of sounds as if it would be as tough as old boot leather. You're going to have to give me an explanation on that, because we don't have that out here.

Jules

Author's Response: Jim has his reason and  the explantion will come. Twice cooked pork - I don't really know why they call it that. It's actually really tender. Its a spice Chinese dish with morel mushrooms and hot peppers and onions. I really like it. Hugs, Vonnie

I don't think he was that much out of character. Remember how he was in Shadow, after he hugged the boys - he stood back with tears in his eyes as he looked at his sons for the first time in months. I think he would have broken down, thinking that Sam had gone.

Geez, I know I did.....and I'm not even Sam's mum...

Keep fighting, Sammy, keep fighting!

Thank heavens the ritual worked - that was a bad moment when the bed was ripped apart, though - Sam's probably got more damage, and Dean's skull is split again. But I loved that little bit at the end with the flame lit again in Dean's eyes.

Wherever Rebekah's gone, she hasn't  got a snowball's chance in hell of coming back. Not with Dean standing guard.

Jules

Author's Response: Dean is never going to give up when it is about Sam. And I just had to give John some tender moments. Things are going to get better soon. Hugs, Vonnie

Rebekah is evil. And she really needs to be taken down.

So glad Jim is there for the Winchesters. They really need him.

Hmm - the flying glass didn't hurt Dean....I'm sure that has to mean something. I wonder - is the rite protecting Dean too, or is it something else... Could Sam still be in there fighting - protecting his brother?

And where is Dean going? Back to the house to find the journal, perhaps - Rebekah has a true fight on her hands with a riled-up Dean. She's bitten off more than she can chew this time - and I hope it chokes her, the bitch!

Hold on, Sammy - hold on.....

Jules

Author's Response: I love you when you are mad at Rebekah. She has taken on more than she thought and nothing can stop Dean. Hugs, Vonnie

I hope Pastor Jim's protection rite works.

And I like your Dr Gonzales. Sam's in good hands.

But.....things don't look good, do they? I have a horrible feeling Dean's right - they're losing Sammy. Little by little, he's slipping away.

They've got to find that diary!!!

Jules

Author's Response: I just had to bring Pastor Jim in, besides Bobby and John, he is my favorite. And yes, things don't look good. Hugs, Vonnie

That laugh as she vanished, leaving Sam broken and bleeding on the road....*shivers*....

The extent of his injuries, and the fact that he's hanging by a very fragile thread....*shudders*.....

Oh....my....gosh....*cries*

Jules

Author's Response: Girl, you are so emotional, I don't know how much longer I can afford buying those tissues for you. Well, I guess I can swing a few more boxes. I love to see I can get those kind of emotions out of you. Thanks and sorry. Hugs, Vonnie

I knew the answer was in her diary - that's where she got the spell from to bind Sam to her. That cow! No - that bitch!!!!!!

So, she's not dead, eh? She soon will be...

Poor Sam, sinking fast into dehydration and fever - and how he's escaped and is heading for another suicide attempt. And there seems to be nothing Dean and John can do to prevent it.

Can really feel their frustration at not being able to find that diary - it's well hidden. But the Winchesters are top-grade hunters - they'll triumph, I'm sure of it.

I wonder if some of her power is coming from that painting.....

Jules

Author's Response: I had to give the two older Winchesters a though time. It's not going to be easy anytime soon. Thanks, hugs, Vonnie

Loved the little Wee!Chester peek thanks to John's reminiscing. Adored the bit about the tiny baby Sammy's face wreathed in smiles for his brother - could really see that happening.

But how are the elder Winchester men going to make it through the day with Sam spitting obscenities and threats, followed by broken-hearted pleading and tears? OMG.....

And is the Sam we know and love still locked in there somewhere? Is he fighting to get free of the spirit's cruel influence? Or is he completely taken over, his mind filled with thoughts of Rebekah and joining her forever?

Oh, Sammy....

Jules

Author's Response: I love your comments, they are almost as good as reading one of your stories. Thanks for giving me so many to read. Hugs, Vonnie

Reviewer: mizpah (Signed) · Date: 02/11/09 03:31 AM · On: Chapter 7

How hard must that have been for Dean to handcuff his little brother to the bed? I'm thinking that with that anger Sam's manifesting, that Rebekah's exerting a mighty hard pull over the youngest Winchester.

I wonder if that's how the other victims had their hearts shredded? Or did she do something....this ghost is evil. She's got to go down. Fast.

Thank God John found them and was able to give Dean a respite. That was a lovely tender moment when Dean came back to find John stroking Sammy's cheek while he slept. I hope John's got a plan, because Dean's at the end of his rope.

And I think Sam's just going to get more and more desperate as Rebekah keeps pulling him towards her - and towards his own death....

Jules

Author's Response: Sorry for causing you more distress. Maybe you could massage the scars with lotion a few times daily to make them better. Thanks for being so sweet. Hugs, Vonnie

Oh my gosh....*flaps hands in horror*...she found them - miles and miles away, she found them - and waited for Dean to leave before recapturing Sam's mind.

Oh my gosh......

Might not have been the wisest move on Dean's part to keep the truth from Sam, even though he was doing it out of love and his need to protect his baby brother.

But they have to find how Rebekah's doing this - or I fear Sam might just succeed......

*keeps flailing in distress over Sammy's slashed arms*......

Jules

Such a worrying time trying to get Sam back from the brink. And good on the ambo for insisting that Dean get treated too. That head injury wasn't just a scratch.

Oh, Sam - he doesn't remember a thing! He's going to be horrified when he finds out what he did to himself - and to Dean, since he's forgotten that too. Or Rebekah is blocking his memories.

But somehow I don't think that Dean's solution is going to work - there was something ominous about her final words to Sam - "You belong to me, Sam Winchester" - I have a feeling that distance isn't going to make one whit of difference.

I hope Dean figures something out before that cow succeeds in her little plan. And I hope he finds that diary of hers - I think the key is in there. And what was that spell - Celtic? Hmmm.....

Jules

Author's Response: Hey thanks again, you are doing a lot of thinking here. Hope you won't get a headache or I might have to spring for some Tylenol beside the tissues. Hugs, Vonnie

Reviewer: mizpah (Signed) · Date: 02/11/09 03:05 AM · On: Chapter 4

Yep, I was right - Sam's feeling dreadful over what he was influenced into doing. Rebekah's got him completely under some sort of spell, especially now that he's uttered what seems to be an incantation - binding spell, perhaps? Binding him to her?

So, was she a witch?

Poor Dean, waking up and finding his brother gone, then finding Sam back at the motel.....

*begins to chew on fingernails worriedly* - Oh, Sammy - I knew he'd be doing something terrible once she told him to go do what he needed to do to make her belong to him.

And it was obviously the Impala's keys that Sam took from Dean's pocket - for a moment I thought it was a weapon.

I hope that motel clerk moves his butt and calls the ambulance ASAP!

Oh, Sammy.....*sniffles*

Jules

Author's Response: Sorry to make you cry again, I wonder how many boxes of tissues I owe you by now? Thanks for another great review. Hugs, Vonnie

So worrying for Dean, first finding Sam confronted by the spirit, then realising the salt guns were out of reach, and finally getting zapped by Rebekah, only to wake up to find his brother out cold and unable to be roused for a while.

And now Sam's showing some really strange behaviour. The sprit has latched onto him somehow. It was probably her influence that has made Sam lose his memory and want to get to the house later than planned.

But oh - that blow to the head - when Dean comes to, he's going to do some serious butt-kicking - Rebekah better watch her step. She's on borrowed time now that she's hurt Dean's baby brother.

And poor Sam - how is he going to feel when he snaps out of it and remembers all this?

Jules

Author's Response: This is going to be a tough one for Dean. Rebekah isn't what she seems she is and so things aren't going to be easy. Anyway, both of them are going to be in it deep. Thanks again for reviewing and for being such a sweetheart. Hugs, Vonnie

Reviewer: mizpah (Signed) · Date: 01/11/09 03:54 AM · On: Chapter 2

Oh, no, that wasn't good - the ghost has her hooks in Sammy! And she threatened Dean to do it!

Love Dean's make like a tree and leave comment - laughed out loud at that one. But oh, Sam should have told Dean about the eyes following him around.

And they definitely shouldn't have gone back into that room - but then, they're hunters - that's what they do.

I have a feeling that Rebekah's next victim isn't going to be Dean, but Sammy.....

Jules

Author's Response: Glad to make you laugh. You are pretty spot on with your suspicion here. Thanks for another great review. Hugs, Vonnie

Reviewer: mizpah (Signed) · Date: 01/11/09 03:46 AM · On: Chapter 1

Definitely like it, hun. And reviewing - see? This is me reviewing...*types away like mad on the keyboard*....

Lovely opening scenes of the boys rocking along to Akka Dakka - well, Dean anyway. And Back In Black - excellent choice.

But this hunt sounds already as if it's going to be a bit more than the boys expected, especially with Sam being haunted by those eerie eyes in the painting. Dean's right, there's something not right with that.

Wonder whether the spirit - if it is a spirit - has been affecting Sam from the moment they hit town, or if he really was just starving and focussed on his research. Could imagine Dean's look of shock when Sam hoovered up all his own food and then starting pinching Dean's.

And now Sam's had a mysterious and violent pain in the head, right after feeling as though those painted eyes were watching him....

The plot, as they say, thickens.

Great start, hun.

Jules
