Thank you so much for such a wonderfully written story. I have just spent nearly all of Saturday reading it all through (again) in one go. You have an amazing gift for describing scenes and characters - for building suspense - for dialogue that says volumes in a few words! I'm elated after having read the story, sad that it's almost over and looking forward both to the epilogue and to your next story. Hope you soon feel better.
Author's Response: Wow! Thank you...that's an awesome compliment. And thanks for the well-wishes, I think I might be feeling a little better...I passed it on to my poor hubby and now he's all droopy and about to run me out of the house with the heat turned up so high, lol. *fans self vigorously*

Truly enjoyed this story. It really put me through the wringer. Can't wait for the epilogue. Thanks for sharing your amazing writing skills with us less-talented SN geeks.
Author's Response: You are too sweet...but trust me, I don't feel all that talented and I'm just thrilled you guys are reading! Thanks, though, I appreciate your words and I hope that whatever illness bug has burrowed in will leave soon so I can get that epilogue finished for you all! Sorry it's been delayed, btw.

One of my favorite stories is coming to an end! What an anazing piece of writing. You kept the tension up at all times and yet included lots of brother love, emotions and angst. At times I just wanted to reach out to Dean and help him so bad. I am looking forward to the epilogue, see how you wrap things up. I will surely read this story again. Thank you so much for your great work :)
Author's Response: Aw...that's so sweet! One of your favorites, really? I really appreciate this and it was sorely needed as a cheer me up today. Thank you, thank you. *snuggles kind review* Nicole

Wow!That chapter left me speechless and out of breath. Nicole, you got me at the edge of my seat while reading. That was so intense and powerful, you did a fabulous work with this chapter Claire. Can't wait for the epilogue.
Author's Response: Sooo, Oceane, you wanna write that epilogue for me? Hmm? Epilogues are so hard for me because I know it needs to be satisfying in a way all the previous chapters weren't. It's the last thought of the story. Man, I hope it turns out good, but I can't look while I write it, I'll wait and see what you all have to say, lol. Thanks, Oceane, I really, really appreciate all of your faithful reviewing.

This was really fantastic. You packed in action alongside the emotion and angst that I've come to count on from you and your stories. My heart was in my throat at times and though I knew how it was going to end, reading up to that part was excruciating. In a good way. If that makes sense. Thanks for telling us there will be an epilogue -- you can't just leave them lying on Bobby's floor! And THANKS for my handcuff scene. Even if it wasn't for me. I'm gonna pretend that it was and stay in my happy place. Great ride, girl. Keep it coming. ;)
Author's Response: Oh Gaelic, sweetie, thank you. I was so worried it wouldn't be what I needed for it to be. I still feel like I "failed" at the handcuff scene, which I wrote with you and Boondocks in mind the whole time. Just wished I could've delivered on that a little better. Actually, it did end up in there especially for you because I'd forgotten all about it until you mentioned it again several, several weeks ago, lol. Thanks, I'm happy it wasn't a disappointment. :)

My heart was in my mouth the whole time, while reading this absolutely fantastic, thrill ride of a chapter. And very satisfying conclusion to the demon. Can't wait for the epilogue... ...and for the first chapter of your next story! I will read it!
Author's Response: Oh THANK you!!! It is such a relief to hear that it was a satisfying end to the demon...I was afraid I'd made it too easy. SO happy to hear you felt satisfied. Aw, thanks, I appreciate knowing that I'll have at least one reader carrying over to the next one ;)

I can't wait for the epilogue,... though I'll be sad when this story officially comes to an end. Ay chance of a sequel?? That final seen of this chapter was heart renching... and i just wanted to say that I really, really enjoyed reading this. It was a fabulous adventure..and you seem like such a natural writer. soph xx
Author's Response: Uuhh, doubtful there will be a sequel...I'm already deeply enschonced into plotting my next story, which is a sequel to The Wake Up Call--my first fic (the embarrassingly emo one). I mean, I won't say never ever, but I feel like this one is pretty well tied up and gone as far as it can go. But, I do appreciate that you'd like one, that makes me feel good, thank you. And, thank you for reading and reviewing. It's good to know it didn't crash and burn, lol.
Author's Response: Aw, crap...I really butchered the spelling of ensconched. Hope I got it right this time. *how embarrassing*

Wow, awesome!!! What a fantastic chapter, what a thrillride! Thanks so much for the great work. I loved the whole story - it was heartbreaking and catching. Can't wait for the epilogue!
Author's Response: Why thank you! You are most welcome and I appreciate you reading it and leaving me some cookies! I adore cookies ;)

Oh God. This's... wow... Wait a minute, I have to catch my breath... Okay. What a killing chapter! So intense! And heart-breaking *sob* I swear, if I'll ever be able to write like this in any language, I'm gonna... I don't know... I just mean... wow. (Let's pretend that it made sense, lol) Waiting for an epilogue and another story from you. There's another story coming, right? :)
Author's Response: Oh, sweetie...don't say that. Do you know that most every time I read someone else's fic I feel the same way. I always wonder why I didn't think of that, why my phrases aren't so perfectly placed, why it's not so well plotted...blah, blah, blah. I'm sure you do fine. :) But thank you...(((hugs)))...I appreciate the sentiment even thought I truly doubt I deserve it. Oh yes, there'll be more. I'm pretty well done plotting the next one out. It's a sequel to my first fic, The Wake-Up Call. I promised everyone I'd do it and so now I'm finally ready to get back to it. Thanks for asking :).

thanks for scaring the crap outta me! damn and i thought the shooting himself in the head was bad. but thanks a lot for the ending. it was really good. looking forward to the epilogue
Author's Response: Oh, hee, sorry for the scare...yeah, I knew I wasn't leaving you all on another cliffie...my thank you for reading even though I'm a sucky updater :)

Actually read this all in one sitting - have the numb tail to prove it, but I couldn't stop. Everything between them here is so raw -a glimpse into Dean he didn't even want to show Sam, much less me. Thank you for letting us into those Winchester brains - both of them
Author's Response: Why hello, danrac1066! *waves* Wow, one sitting? Your bottom must be hating you right now, lol. But that is quite a compliment, thank you. I'm very pleased that you enjoyed this look into the boys. It's my favorite thing to write. Thank you so much for reading! It was good to hear from you :).

Wow. I can't help but be sad that this is drawing to a close. My only consolation is to look forward first to the epilogue and then your next story.... As always just so many great moments and lines. I love what you do with Bobby - he has totally morphed into a pseudo-father-figure for the boys and you capture it beautifully here. Just love = squeezed him with gentle ferocity = you have such a lovely turn of phrase. The hard work that I know you pour into your writing to get every phrase just right is so obvious = and much appreciated. Thanks so much for this.....
Author's Response: You know, it's a good thing to embrace The Bobby. The Bobby knows all, sees all...LOL! I'm glad you don't mind me taking Bobby to that place for the boys. I think they need it at this point in their lives. Thank you, Iam...I really do appreciate you words ('cause, I wasn't so sure about that gentle ferocity, good to know it didn't sound corny) I'm excited to hear that you plan on coming along for the next one!

Whew..that was intense! I think I stopped breathing while Sam was trying to bring Dean back! I may need to go and make myself a stiff drink! Beautifully and heartwrenchingly written as always...you really do have a gift for it. The ritual was pretty interesting and you described it so vividly that I could visualize how it all would look. I'm looking forward to the epilogue, but have to admit I'll be sad to see this one end. I've enjoyed the journey tremendously.
Author's Response: AW! *hugs you* That is so SWEET. LOVE you for that. I almost hate to see it end, too, but the fact of the matter is I'm also super excited to jump into the next one. Gaelicspirit has been helping me plot out "The Wake-Up Call's" sequel by listening to me brainstorm through it and adding awesome suggestions here and there and now I'm all super excited about it. Still, I will miss some aspects in this one that won't be in that one. Bobby for one. Again, thank you, Phoenix_Song, I've enjoyed reading your thoughts and look forward to seeing what you think of the epilogue!

The description of the familiar smells in Bobby's house was very good, exactly what I've always thought. Great end to a marvelous chapter! Interested in what ends will be tied up in the epilogue.
Author's Response: Yeah, I figure Bobby's house must smell a whole lot like my dad's garage...only with a crap-load of books, lol! Thank you, Shannondoah, I appreciate the feedback. LOVES the feedback ;)

Heartwrenching, edge-of-your-seat stuff. An absolutely wonderful update. Sorry to see this one almost over.......
Author's Response: Hello, Vanessa! So happy to see your review and that you enjoyed it! I worked a little longer on this one than I normally do and hoped it wouldn't disappoint. Thanks again!

Fantastic suspense in this chapter NG, and I'm so glad to hear that there will be an epilogue. Now I've got that to look forward to! See you again soon!
Author's Response: Think so? I worked on this and tried to trim as much as excess as I could find (which was quite a lot, actually) and hoped this was close to being suspenseful. I truly tried :) Thanks, ciel, glad you liked!

Great, attention grabbing beginning. Had me hooked from the onset. Good, fresh rapport between the brothers, you capture their relationship well. Interesting developments & twists that kept me reading. Nice tie in to Bloody Mary. I'm usually a huge fan of Sam angst & pain (not that I don't also love Dean) & even though this was the other brother I prefer to see in this situation, I still really enjoyed the story. Great descriptions: Each hitching step the boy took sounded of popping bones and torn, liquefied flesh. More great descriptions, I could really picture this scene & feel Dean's agony.: Dean felt long, thin fingers grasp him under the arms, away from his shoulder, and then a slight tugging as Sam tried to ease him up. Fire ripped through his puncture wound and was accompanied by a stabbing ache in his ribs. His head swam dizzily as he reared back – catching Sam painfully on the chin. Hearing Sam’s grunt, he tried to apologize but found he was unable to form the words, too busy fighting the black edges of his vision. Using his good leg to help support his weight, Dean bit down on his lip, concentrating on keeping his reaction reigned in as Sam got him upright. Several grunts, curses and all kinds of facial acrobats later, Dean was back in his bed propped up on the flat, motel pillows. The elder man leaned heavily into them, his arm still holding his sides and his head pitched back – still working on controlling his panting into something more like regular breathing. No reason to be a girl about it. I have to admit, I was a little worried about this secret b/c sometimes there is a big buildup to a "secret" & it turns out to be nothing or irrational. I was not disappointed with this twist though. What made it good was that I can see where he would feel directly responsible for her dying & he's not just overreacting & he wasn't overreacting about Sam being mad b/c it wasn't a stranger, it was a friend of his & Jess so it made more sense. Also, I like how the memory didn't come to him out of left field – it was brought on by the death of Daniel. I do think it's been carried on a bit too long but I can't wait to see what happens from here!
Author's Response: Super-whoa! That was one heck of a review and my eyes were all o o. Thank you ever so much, I'm happy you enjoyed and I appreciate all the thought you put into this review. I'm so glad the secret turned out good for you...I worried about how people would react to that. Yeah, I do tend to drag things on. Don't know how to stop. I enjoy reading fics that are a little draw out and maybe that's part of the reason I drag things out...or I just dont know how to be concise. Anyhoo, thanks and I hope you like the next part.

“It was amazing how long you fought the thing off. You did that, Dean. You held in there long enough for me to find you. Bobby says most people are dead within a week. You held in there for two.” That's our Dean! Nicole, this chapter had me breathless. That ending was so intense I couldn't stop reading until the demon disappeared and when she finally did I breathed this huge sigh of relief. Excellent work! -SJ
Author's Response: Thanks, SJ, I'm so happy you found some time to read and review...I missed you! Hope those wedding plans are coming along nicely. May you have a stress free wedding!!! Nicole

Just wanted to let you know how much I've enjoyed reading your story! I totally "pictured" everything happening as I was reading it. You've captured the brothers perfectly! I can't wait for new chapters!
Author's Response: Well, thanks, ma'am! I appreciate that very much and I'm thrilled to have a new reader! :) As for new chapters, there are only two left, chapter 15 should end up being the epilogue so we're nearly done (and there is a hushed, "Finally"! coming from the crowd). Thank you for reading and enjoying and if you read my review response just below, you'll see that it shouldn't be TOO long before an update but I do still have little ways yet to go because this next chapter will be extra long. Thanks again!

I hate demons! Poor dean, he's really struggling to keep going. I definatly don't like his 'plan', far too much can go wrong. I'm not sure how much more dean can take but I can't wait till they destroy that demon. Patiently waiting for an update. Well? OK, I'll be patient, or at least I'll try.
Author's Response: Well the good news is, once I finish the next chapter, you should have everything save the epilogue...the bad news is, I got off-track last week when I got sick and haven't gotten back in the groove just yet. The good news is, I'm planning on refocusing tomorrow :) NEW EPI TOMORROW...YEA!!! Thanks for the review!

You've written 6 stories now and I've loved every single one. No one writes emotion like you and the relationship between the brothers is so real, there have been times I've been reduced to tears reading your stuff. This story is beautiful, so believable and I can see it all happening in my head, which is a credit to your ability to weave a description of both situation and emotion. My only complaint is, you dont have the time to post more, but even that is understandable when I consider the quality of your work. Looking forward to more!
Author's Response: Lol, it's really funny you should say that about the emotion. Your the second person this week to say something similar. Just call me Emo girl, lol. But, I do take the brother's relationship very seriously and I try to keep it front and center, so it means a lot to me that you think I do that well. For me, that's what its all about, the relationship. I love how these guys love each other. It's great to see a story about brothers who are close and care for one another deeply. I think it helps that I have a good relationship with my sister and can identify. Yeah, I do wish I could update faster, but my brain works a little slower than some. However, if you'd like to take up a collection and send me enough money to support the family, I'll be thrilled to stay home and write fan fiction...that'd be awesome! LOL. Thank you, bulletbabe, I really appreciate your words and I'm happy to have you reading :).

What a shame he couldn't save the boy and what a horrendous fall for Dean. I was icking out at the thought of a piece of wood through his shoulder! Rather concerened about Dean's eyes. I'm wondering if the boy was possessed and the spirit jumped into Dean once the boy was dead at the bottom of the ravine?! Jane :)
Author's Response: Hello again, Jane. I think you're on the right track. Let me know what you think about the creature as its kinda one of my own making. Hope you enjoy the rest. Nicole

Gruesome opener indeed! Not liking the idea of that being a vision, no no no. I love your style of writing, it just flows like a stream so bright and gleaming, with lovely descriptions that add to the dialogue. Onward, whats up next in New Mexico. Jane :)
Author's Response: Hi Jane! What a sweet and colorful way to describe why you liked my writing. That's really darn awesome, thank you! I appreciate that and hope you're not disappointed as you keep going through it. Thanks, Nicole

"you look like death warmed over---tiwce." The description of what Dean heard while his eyes were covered was ingenius! Okay, so now we know that plan A isn't going to work. It never does, not with the Winchester luck. Your psychological episodes are thrilling! I love to feel what the characters are feeling, think what they are thinking. You've done an amazing job! Thanks!
Author's Response: The fact that you can "feel" the story is a truly awesome compliment, thank you! That's what I always hope to hear because a story is best when you are drawn into it. I love reading when I'm so deep into it that I can feel the emotion or whatever. Thanks for that. I'm a happy, smiling fool now :)
