You've evil Nicole, the chapter ended just as Dean was going to reveal is terrible secret. What he did to think that Sam would be horrified by what Dean did and leave him alone. I love you took the same scene we got in the last chapter but this time with Dean point of view, very well done. Terrific work Nicole.
Author's Response: Oh, well, mighty big thanks, Oceane! Actually, it was Gaelic's idea to start the chapter with a recap through Dean's eyes...I needed help getting started and she was quick to jump in. Sometimes getting started is the hardest part for me...once I get going, it just starts coming along. Gosh, you don't know how happy your kind words make me...I sometimes worry that people aren't as thrilled with this story as WUC...'cause I know I've pulled back on the emo a little. (This might look familiar... *smile*) Oh... so cruel! I watched that scroll bar get closer and closer to the end as they talked and just *knew* you were going to leave us without Dean's confession... whimper. You had some really great lines in this! My favorite was this:
>> A rubber band stretched too far, Dean felt himself expanding, snapping and then flung far into the corners of his mind.
I also liked that you had Sam crafty enough to get Dean drunk. And wisely switch him to beer before skunked turned into full-on passed out. :) Getting inside of Dean's mind was great -- his desperation to control the *thing* inside of him... his pain... sigh.
Keep it going, girl! Don't want to wait to long to hear the story about Hannah!

I love this story on so many levels NG! It's so good I'm willing to excuse all slothfulness, as long as you update again soon! (great vacation notwithstanding!)
Lots of things to enjoy, but I loved Dean fighting Dean fighting Sam, Dean wanting handcuffs, Sam trying to get Dean drunk....carefully! Most heartbreaking line? This one: Despair coloring his eyes, Dean whispered, “And what if I tell you and…you leave?” Yikes. Did I mention I would like you to update soon?

I hope to get started tomorrow, but son is playing in his second Little League tournament Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights...*sigh*. OMG - This story just gets better. Freakin' awesome chapter. But WHAT an EVIL cliffie - throw us a bone here! You've been taunting us with the story of Hannah forever... PLEASE update sooooon. I loved Dean insisting on being cuffed and Sam's idea of getting him drunk to spill the beans....Hell, there's nothing I don't love about this story...

Poor Dean, how much more he'll take before he's too broken to be himself again. Now that they know with what they're dealing maybe they'll find a way to get rid of it. Loved that moment when Dean tell to Sam this memory from their childhood, very sweet. Awesome video Nicole and great choice of song. Riveting story so far, can't wait for more.

Wheeee! NG's back! have to confess to being a little bit worried when you hadn't updated for a while, and then I saw "Connected" and I knew another chapter for this one wouldn't be far away.......just as well, BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN HANGING OUT FOR IT! And it was so worth the wait. This is my new favourite chapter in this story. The whole conversation on the bed is just gorgeous, and I love the term "guilt buffet" It sums Dean up perfectly! Author's Response: I don't normally wander into flashback childhood memories because I worry about doing them right...so they don't sound false or hollow, so I'm glad this seems to have worked out. Yep, I took a mini-vacation. Between the blinding fear of messing this whole thing up and just being plain busy, busy, busy, it took a while to get back. May is always such a busy month for me, so it was easy to hide behind the activity, lol. But, my good pal, GS, let me cry my woes on her shoulder and I moved on. Thanks for reviewing...since, you know, I was nervous about committing to this chapter. :)

Holy cow! Not only do we get a kick-ass angst-filled chapter, but a video! I have to admit, I was so curious I scrolled to the bottom to see the video first. :) Nicely done! I loved the editing and the way you timed the actions to the lyrics. Though I'm usually not a Korn fan, that one was fitting. Thanks so much for sharing! And now the chapter -- okay, I feel a little silly that I didn't see what you were doing earlier, but I simply chalk it up to the fact that I enjoy allowing the story to unfold before me and not try to think around the author to figure out what's going on. Dean's guilt with Hannah -- whatever happened with her -- is wrenching. And I loved that you tied it back to Bloody Mary. I've always wondered why Dean's eyes bled -- AND why Sam never asked him. *silly Sam* And with this Culpa-Moh (right?) invading/possessing Dean... gah. Nicely done. I hope the stars align so that you can bring us the next installment soon. I have a feeling that Dean's plight is going to get worse before it gets better...

Nicole, this was great! Absolutely worth the wait! And that vid...I love presents and that was an awesome one. This chapter was fabulous....made me want to jump into the story and beat the crap out of that demon for delighting in Dean's agony. I pretty much feel that way when I watch the show too... ;-) The quotes that Sojourner pulled out were my favorites as well. I loved the image of Sam clomping around in Dean's shoes...so cute! Can't wait to see how the boys are going to get out of this one....I'm a little worried....
Author's Response: Well, they say to pull from your own life experience when you write and I used to have niece who is only 5 yrs. younger than me who would wear my shoes and stuff...and I see it in my own kids. And, it most always drives the older one nuts, lol! I could see Sam hero worshiping Dean to this extent...because, you know, he is an awesome older brother. Okay...I couldn't wait for the next time I could find wifi, I had to read it now before I find out that I'll never be back to this cafe in AZ and lose it wondering what chapter seven was like...so I am hiding from family and got a chance to read this. One word: Awesome! Highlights: “The summer after you’d turned five.” Dean let the smile warm his voice. “You got it in your head to be just like me…not that anyone could blame you, having such a cool older brother and all.” ***** “You know, he’s never really forgotten that. I can’t decide what hurt him worse, the salt tearing into his skin or the words that ripped his soul.” ***** “You see, Sam, Dean’s just too broken, just too much fun to resist. By the time I’m done, your brother’s gonna be begging you to kill him…if he doesn’t kill you first. Until then, take comfort in knowing that your brother is all I need to finish out this cycle. Consuming him is equal to at least two souls, a veritable guilt buffet.”

omg.....nicole..i thought you're tale was outstanding but the video really topped it all....I've loved Dean from day one and felt that Jensen was born to play that part......one pained look, one facial twitch and he conveys more angst and meaning than five minutes of dialogue.............all I can say is AWESOME...I love deep, dark,bigger-than-life, self-sacrificing, NOBLE heroes and Dean is the cream of the crop at that........thank you for immortalizing him on vid...great song, fantastic lyrics.... again thanks
