That was a bit of a worry when Sam wasn't eating much, but can understand how his appetite was trashed.

Loved their talk at the end, and Sam's declaration coupled with his patent puppy dog look. Dean never had a chance - lol.

And Bobby was right - if one went down, the other would surely follow....or do something really stupid to get the other one back....*sigh*...but we so love them for it.

Great story, hun. You gave me some bad moments there, but you fed me enough warm fuzzies to keep me happy and not shouting at the computer screen - lol.

hugs

Jules

Author's Response: Always glad to serve. You really did it and got through almost the whole story in one sitting. Wow, amazing. You are the best and I really have to tell you how much I appreciate you. I wish we wouldn't live so far apart, I'll love to meet you, but I guess I'm just glad we get to write. Hugs and a special thank you, Vonnie

Awwwww.....that last scene gave me a serious dose of the warm and fuzzies.

Good on Dr Connell for reacting so fast when she saw Sam in distress. Thankfully the morphine worked and he finally got some rest.

Loved how he woke up in the lift, saw Dean right by his side and went back to sleep reassured. Awwwwwww......

And they finally can talk! Well, for a little while, but still, they managed to give each other an update and soothe each other's fears.

Jules

Author's Response: Well, at least I could make you feel this way and it might make up for the frayed nerves I gave you earlier. Hugs, Vonnie

I love Sam's hair. And after meeting Jared, I love it even more. It's a lot lighter in real life than it appears in the show. But just as shaggy and wavy.

That was sweet, Sam lying there pretending to be asleep and just letting Dean and Bobby's voices wash over him.

Oh, I could sympathise with him, though, trying to get that gunk out of his lungs. I had swine flu recently, and was coughing up - or trying to - socially unacceptable junk. Man, it was hard to breathe, cough, and get rid of that stuff all at the same time. Especially since I couldn't breathe very well anyway. Yuck - horrible time.

So glad that Sam's improving, though. And that's awesome, but typical, of Bobby to insist the boys come and stay with him while they recover.

Jules

Author's Response: Sometimes I don't like Sam's hair in the show. At least the last two seasons. But I can see why they do what they do to it. Sorry you got the swine flu. It doesn't sound like fun. I know you are susceptible to a lot of stuff because of your lupus. That really has to suck. I loved your line of the 'socially unacceptable junk', it made me laugh, although the whole thing isn't really funny. Shows your sense of humor. I'm glad you got through it. Hugs, Vonnie

Yep, well, you scared the living shite out of me. I had no idea it was a nightmare. And what other mean, nasty authors put you through that kind of torture! Names -I want names!!!

Dean was dead right - only he could save Sam. That was a bad moment when Sam was trying to tell Dean he was coming to join them. I had tears in my eyes.

And I could clearly see Sam clinging even in sleep, once he finally realised that Dean was still there and still breathing.

Whew - think I need a cup of tea to settle my thoroughly rattled nerves...

Jules

Author's Response: I'm so glad you are alright. And although I this story quite a while before I distinctly remember two authors by the names of Mizpah and Cookie, who killed Sam after his little power act of closing the door to hell again. Well at least they let me think they did. I think I'm going to send you some Camomille and Valerian tea for your nerves. That should help settle them. Thanks for continuing to read anyway. Hugs, Vonnie

What.....who.....guh.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU KILLED DEAN!!!!!!!!

OHMYGOSH!!!!

 *gasps for air*...

*flails*....

*clicks Next button*

*flails some more*

Author's Response: Wow, this was quite the reaction. I hope you are okay and I don't owe you the money for a hospital stay for a heart attack. I see there are more reviews, so I hope you are alright. Hugs, Vonnie

I have no doubt at all that Sam is indeed responding to his brother's voice, and that's what's healing him just as much as the barrage of antibiotics and treatments he's on.

That was so encouraging when Sam tried to squeeze Dean's hand. Dean's excitement just leapt off the page. And that was a sweet little awww moment when Dean got back from physio and Sam woke up just long enough to look over at him, recognise his big brother and drift back to sleep again.

Can understand the doc's reticence in his assessment, and not wanting to instill false hope. But you're right, he doesn't know what sort of powers Dean's talking about - nor what sort of power the elder Winchester brother can wield. That bond will drag Sam back into the land of the living.

Oh, and so glad Bobby's still there. Is he getting sweet on Brenda?

Jules

Author's Response: You picked up on Bobby and Brenda how great. I thought about it for a while but then decided not to go to far into it. Hugs, Vonnie

Thank heavens for Bobby and his tough love, bringing Dean back from the brink of despair like that and reminding him that he can't give up on Sam.

What a rough time of it Sam's having. And poor Bobby - could feel that internal flinch when Dean said that they seemed to be cursed, and his tension when Dr Connell finally came out to tell them the latest news about the youngest Winchester's fight for survival.

Hold on, Sammy - just hold on.

Jules

Author's Response: I admire people that can be tough for others even though they are crying on the inside. There is definitely a lot of love here. Thanks again for this awesome review. Hugs, Vonnie

Oh no.....*presses hands to chest*...

I've had pleurisy - twice...no, three times. It's not fun at all. Hurts like hell to breathe. So I can sympathise with Sam.

So glad that Dr Connell called in the best help - but I have a feeling that Bobby is going to doubt the quality of that help now that Sam's had a reaction to the new medication. That rattle and wheeze and then the ominous silence - that was horrifying....*gulps*...

Oh, Sammy.....

Jules

Author's Response: I'm sorry you had to go through this kind of pain three times. I never had it, just dealt with the nursing aspect. I hope you will never again get it. And you might be surprised by Bobby, after all, not even the best doc can predict an allergic reaction. Hugs, Vonnie

I'm hitting that little button, hun. See?*hits button*...

No one, not even Bobby, can get through to one Winchester brother like the other one can. Only Dean could have broken through Sam's fever-induced fugue and convinced him that everything was all right. And only Sam could have pulled Dean out of the despair he was feeling by giving him something to hang onto.

I loved that little quiet moment of reassurance between the brothers, and Bobby's revelation about their bond.

Fingers crossed that things are looking a little brighter now.

Jules

Author's Response: I see you are still reading on, you brave warrior. You are so wonderful. Thanks so much. Hugs, Vonnie

Reviewer: mizpah (Signed) · Date: 18/10/09 05:40 AM · On: Chapter 8

Ah, Dr Connell fell for those deadly puppy dog eyes. Wait till she gets them full force when Sam's better.....he is going to get better, isn't he?....*bats own puppy dog eyes in a pleading gesture*....

At least now Dean's awake and getting better. Sam really needs him. He won't settle until he knows Dean's all right. But oh, that temp of his - that's brain-fryingly high.

*starts to shake worry beads and chant*....

Jules

Author's Response: Oh those puppy dog eyes, who can resist them. Well I for one are pretty good at it, after all my kids try that all the time on me. And I would have loved to see you shake the worry beads and hear you chant. Hugs, Vonnie

Thank heavens the ambulance arrived promptly. Could really feel Bobby's concern, and his momentary unease about letting Sam go unescorted in the ambulance.

And that was a lovely moment when Dean woke, his first thoughts about his brother, and was immediately soothed by Bobby's reassurance that Sam was getting the help he needed. They trust him so much. As they should.

But that doesn't sound as though Dr Connell is going to give Uncle Bobby good news about his youngest 'nephew'....

Jules

Author's Response: You are right, the boys have every reason to trust Bobby. He is always there for them when they need him. Hugs, Vonnie

Reviewer: mizpah (Signed) · Date: 18/10/09 04:21 AM · On: Chapter 6

Awwww.....I loved that end scene. Thank heavens that Sam still had enough presence of mind to put Bobby down as a contact, and that he actually picked up.

Uncle Bobby to the rescue! I so love Bobby. I can't believe that there were people who actually complained about how much screen time Bobby had in Season 4 - and worse, that Jim Beaver got to hear about it and felt that he had to clarify that he hadn't been in it any more hours than S3. OMG, what is wrong with people?????

Anyway, rant over - and I'm really glad to see you use Bobby in this story, hun. He is so much of a father figure to the boys.

But oh, Sammy - he's in a bad way, isn't he? Thankfully Bobby didn't muck around and called the emergency number straight away. But I have a feeling that Sam won't start getting better until he understands that he hasn't failed Dean and that Dean will be all right.

Jules

Author's Response: I love Bobby, he is such a rough, gruff guy with a heart of gold. I love to use him in my stories. Good to hear you like him too. I don't understand some people either. I mean what's so bad about Bobby having more screen time, even if it wasn't true. Hugs, Vonnie

OHMIGOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was all set to get seriously warm and fuzzy over Tom and his kindness to Sammy until that last line about the yellow eyes!!! OMG!!!!!!!!

And Dean's not in a good way either - that concussion is much worse.

Oh-oh-oh! Sam, don't go! Ooh, this is going to be sooooo messy.

Is it too much to hope that Brenda would run out and stop Sammy before he drives off?

Yeah, thought so.......*sniffles*

Jules

Author's Response: So now I owe you a box of tissues for the sniffles I gave you. I just couldn't help myself, it would be too easy otherwise. Hugs, Vonnie

Reviewer: mizpah (Signed) · Date: 18/10/09 04:05 AM · On: Chapter 4

This isn't going to end well...both brothers being stubborn about seeking medical attention is just going to lead to bucketloads of trouble. And Sam going out into the cold with damp hair after his shower -never mind that he's got that cap thingy on, it's still damp underneath.

And now he's going out to get the Impala? Oh, yikes. Hope that Dean will keep his phone handy - I have a feeling he's going to need it.

*chews nails worriedly*

Jules

Author's Response: Wow, I just hope you didn't chew your nails up too badly. I would hate to know you hurt yourself. Hugs, Vonnie

Reviewer: mizpah (Signed) · Date: 15/10/09 10:13 PM · On: Chapter 3

Uh-oh.....wet clothes - my aunt ended up with pneumonia after sitting around in wet clothes one Christmas/New Year - and that was in summer! This is the middle of winter - Sammy's about to be in deep doo-doo, isn't he?

Really loved Sam's little mantra, and his determination to keep going and save Dean. They really are so linked to each other - they are each other's strength, no doubt about it.

And ooh - you hurt the Impala!!!! *clutches chest in shock*...

Here's hoping there's a rescue plan for all three injured Winchesters.

Jules

Author's Response: Hey, if I hurt Sam and Dean, I have to hurt Baby too, wouldn't be fair otherwise. Anyway, you're right, Sammy is in deep doo-doo. It sounds like you are having fun. Thanks and hugs, Vonnie

Reviewer: mizpah (Signed) · Date: 15/10/09 10:07 PM · On: Chapter 2

Hmm... can it be that easy? Fifteen more chapters plus the title tells me it won't - lol. Poor Sammy feeling guilty over the spirit throwing Dean around. It really wasn't his fault though.

Ooh, and I loved the mirror-image of Dean saying he was born ready, echoing Sam's statement when they first got to the house.

So, big ouchies for Deany-babe. And it's not over yet, is it?

Jules

Author's Response: Nope, not over by far. You're right, the title kinda gives it away. Thanks again. Hugs, Vonnie

Reviewer: mizpah (Signed) · Date: 15/10/09 09:58 PM · On: Chapter 1

Loved the opening scenes - and adored Dr Dean - lol. Sneaky Dr Dean though, giving Sam the nighttime medication so he'd sleep it off.

Still, it's not really boding well one of them being a bit off-colour before going into a hunt involving a spirit with a grudge against his brother....*cue scary music*....

I'm loving your back catalogue, Vonnie. I could lose myself for hours in here.

Jules

Author's Response: Wow, thanks I would have never expected this.I'm glad I can entertain you a little. Hugs, Vonnie
