I'm so sorry about your friend's father. It is always difficult to loose a parent Hope you are okay now. Don't worry about the late update, I understand. It was worth waiting for. Really nicely written. I'm glad Dean got to save Sam. But Sam sure is in bad shape mentally. And now he is in the hands of 'ghost' Jedediah. So now I wonder what's going to happen next and if Dave is going to do anything about the 'high-profile' fugitives, now that he knows. Can't wait for the next chapter. Hugs, Vonnie
Author's Response: Thanks Vonnie. I think it was doubly hard, not just because I knew Sharyn's dad, but because my grandfather's death was not all that long ago, and it brought back a bit of my grief, too. As for the story - yes, Sam is in bad shape, and it's about to get worse - cue scary music any time now...*hugs back* - I love hugs!...Jules

Great story - sorry bout your friends father - was starting to worry when you hadn't posted which sounds a bit dramatic but it wasn't like you. take it easy - save that strength for typing Su
Author's Response: Thanks for that Su - my friend is back in Brisbane now. She's doing okay, considering - has her mushy bits, but that's understandable. LOL - I will take it easy for the weekend, I promise. As for typing - hope you enjoy the next serving...Jules

Fantastic chapter, I can't get enough of this story, Dean being all protective an all, and now having to go and rescue Sam again, Can't wait for the next chapter Please post soon. One of my favourites.
Author's Response: Thank you for that - hope you keep enjoying it. And hope I didn't keep you waiting too long - I went out tonight with a friend to a concert and have only just got home - naughty me, having a social life on posting night...*holds out hand to be smacked*...LOL...Jules

ugh, not good... Though i guess it could be worse, at least Dave hasn't called the cops, it looks like he's ready to give Dean a chance to explain. And Sam, ahh, Sam, my six years old gets in less troubles than Sam...
Author's Response: No, hon - it doesn't look good - Dean's caught out by Dave and the evil ghost has Sam. And yep - lol - Dean really needs to get that GPS tracker for his brother - man, that kid can find trouble can't he? ...Jules

Awesome update and one major cliffie there - Sam stuck with a homicidal maniac and Dean faced with someone who knows who they are! You don't do things by half, do you? I feel so sorry for them both with all this tension, especially as it's making them throw out really cruel words at each other :( And now, just when Dean might have an idea, Dave thinks he knows who/what they are.. This is so not good! Even in the midst of the tension though, this made me chuckle: "Dad didn't - do something..." Giving a snort of annoyance, Dean shook his head as he came to a halt on the sidewalk. "Come on, Dean - of course he didn't. And even if he did, it would have happened right away, not two weeks later." He suddenly stiffened, glancing around, a dull flush colouring his cheeks. And I'm standing here talkin' out loud to myself like some freakin' nut job. That's just great. *lol* Poor Dean, it really is driving him crazy! Can't wait for the next chapter and hope you're feeling rested now after your unfortunate trip :)
Author's Response: Hi, Michaela - no, I never do things by half - lol. I just jump in feet first and cross my fingers. And yep, it's really driving Dean mad what is going on - but he's onto the things trail now, so hopefully he'll rescue little brother before Sam gets into any more hot water....hopefully....Jules

In your words, he got Daphne'd again!!!! i swear, maybe Sam needs to carry an evil-repellent or something...LOL I hope Dean comes to the rescue and give that person a good thrashing!
Author's Response: He did indeed get Daphne'd! Actually, it was Catchme21's words, used long ago in a reply to one of Windyfontaine's stories. Kristen very generously let me pinch it. And I've used it a few times now. LOL - evil-repellant - wonder what it would be called? But yes, he definitely needs one - perhaps Dean should make a portable salt circle for him - what do you think? Ahh, you are about to get your wish - pissed big brother to the rescue!...Jules

Wow, I so was not expecting that ending! Another week huh? Geez, that'll give me way to much time to think of all the ways Sam could get out of the situation, and what could be affecting him! I just may go crazy! ~Kayla
Author's Response: Yes, sorry Kayla. Hope the extra time gave you lots of ideas as to what's wrong with Sam. And Dean finally figures it out in the next chapter. But things are far from over - they still have to find the thing...Jules

Excellent chapter. At least Dean figured out, that he needs to stay away from Sam, which is tragic, but hopefully they will find the way out soon. Bobby is on the case too, which is great. Only now Sam is in trouble again, I guess, it has to be the guy from the bar. If Sam's rage comes back, he might just kill him, unless the guy gets the better of him before that. Can't wait for the next chapter. I'm hoping for an early update, but I don't want to rush you either. Hugs, Vonnie
Author's Response: Thanks Vonnie. Yes, Dean's got it sussed that it's his presence that is triggering the rage. He just needs to track down the source. And yep, it's the bruiser from the pub. Dean better hurry back....Jules

Eeek! Hurry up Dean! Love the sense of resignation in this - like he knows something's wrong with Sammy and it's driving them apart - and all he can do is go along for the ride. For now, anyway...
Author's Response: Thanks for that. Yes, Dean's clutching at straws with the separate rooms. But he's getting closer to finding out what's wrong with his little brother. He just has to find the source...Jules

one week Jules, ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDING ME??!! Okay, i know Dean's on his way, i know Sam will be fine, but dammit, a whole week to wait! Well, then one week without lovely pictures for you!
Author's Response: And I have tortured you by being late, resulting in an email and a gentle nudge - LOL. Sorry hon. Real life strikes again. But I'm here, and I have another cliffie - I mean chapter, to feed your addiction. Ouch - no piccies of Dean for a week???? Oh, well...*takes deep breath*....Jules

Aw, poor Sammy. He really has no idea why he keeps freaking out whenever Dean is nearby. I feel so sorry for both of them. Here's hoping Bobby comes up with something although it might not be an issue of course, now Sam's gone and go himself cornered again! He needs tagging *eyeroll* Looking forward to the next chapter :)
Author's Response: Sam gets into trouble faster than a two-year-old in a shopping centre! And yes, he definitely needs tagging - or tying down. Actually, we probably know quite a few girls who would gladly volunteer for that particular job - LOL. Sarah will be waving frantically from the front of the queue! Thanks Michaela - hope you like the next chapter...Jules

Soooo ungentlemanly!!!!!! Great Cliffhanger - really not expecting that one! Sam's rage is interesting - only triggered by Deans presence. The way you have both brothers secret fears woven into your plot is brilliant and adds plausibility and weight to your story. Sam's request for holy water was touching - it really is his worst nightmare isn't it? And Dean confiscating the laptop from his brother reveals his worst fear to a tee. Dean heading back for his wallet - hope he catches the bar brawler in time. Great story - loved the way you are simmering the tension and drawing out the mystery with your perfect pace. Can't wait (but there are no more "next" buttons to click so I'll have to!!!!!! Damn!) for next chapter - thanks for the read!
Author's Response: Definitely not the Marquis of Queensbury rules, was it? Yes, it is Sam's worst nightmare - that, and losing his brother in a year's time. And Dean's is of course Sam fiddling with the deal and getting himself killed. Ah, there is a "next" button very soon - thanks so much for reading, and for your wonderfully insightful comments....Jules

Wow Sammy coming out swinging - Dean must think he's in the twilight zone! My earlier Dave weariness is dissipating a little - he sure is handy with that shot gun. Loved big brother to the rescue, even the drug him first answer questions later tactic is touching ... don't you find it amazing exactly what all you'd let those green eyes get away with?!!!LOL! But seriously, you have a really accurate feeling take on both brothers - I lean towards Dean myself and sometimes find Sam a bit challenging to write, so your work is really good research, as well as a damn good read!!!!! Great Job author, loved the action in this scene - convincing. Can't wait to see what Bobby makes of it all!
Author's Response: So, you're back on Dave's side? LOL. Yes, Dean is really struggling with this - he knows it's definitely not his brother, but he's not sure where it's all coming from. I'm a Dean girl, too. But I have an affinity for Sam - I understand him, because I have similar traits - not the whole freaky psychic thing, mind you. When I first started writing I had a hard time with Sam - and I was so worried about getting him wrong, which is rather easy to do. Sam's a softie, but not a wimp. He's quite complicated, actually. He's got as many layers as his big brother. But I do have a soft spot for Dean's little brother. As for Dean, yes, it's amazing what those green eyes can accomplish - LOL. I'll just go over here and swoon in the corner - feel free to come drool with me. Oh, and please call me Jules - everyone else does...Jules

OK are we to assume that mean broody, possibly psychotic killer, black alter ghost guy just let Sam go after tossing him around like a rag doll? I am betting no. Love the spot on sarcastic tone you have going with Dean - especially when he nails Sam for lying and going on a hunt alone. They are both getting a little hands on - crossing lines that neither probably goes near. Sam's final comment about Dean's possible alternative deal was definitely no holds barred. On to next chapter - as I can't leave Dean this way!!!! ;-)
Author's Response: Yes the gloves are coming off, and Sam's going for the jugular at times - but is it him, or something else? Glad you're still enjoying it...Jules

NO WAY! Dean leaving Sammy without a word?!!!! No Way! Ok now there are two suspicious characters Jed and Dave - both almost perfectly partnered to the interests and characters of each brother. Hmmm coincidence? Love the way you build the misunderstanding and escalate the argument on both sides. There is a very natural ebb and flow to the way you write your brotherly disagreements, and using one word to call a truce and signal ceasefire was perfect. Only the Winchesters could use "Jerk" and "Bitch" as words of comfort!!!LOL. Many questions - need some answers!!!! Great chapter!
Author's Response: Thanks so much. And no, Dean wouldn't really leave without a word. Ah, so now you're suspicious of both OC's - lol. And I agree, only the Winchesters could use Jerk and Bitch as words of endearment. Hope you get some more answers from the next chapter, but knowing me, I think you'll only have more questions - lol....Jules

Your scene setting in this chapter is very good - you put us right back into that time and firmly in each of the brothers heads. The tension, between them because of the deal is made worse by the attack on Sam and you go right to the heart of Dean's tension by having Sam refuse at first to talk about it. Loved the description of Dean waiting out his brothers silence because he can read him THAT well. The other nice touch was that there was a slight thaw in Sam's cold front when the Impala was in danger, very nicely done. You depict the bond as fluently with gestures and actions as you do with words. I am a little suspicious of this Dave guy though - maybe just my suspicious nature though!!! On to Ch2!
Author's Response: Thank you for that. When I set a story, I go back to the episodes either side of it in the time frame, and watch to see where the boys' heads are and what's happening, just so I can get it right. Glad it pays off. Ahh, Dave - well, you could be onto something there - then again, I could just be messing with your mind. I tend to do that - it's my love of Agatha Christie mysteries. Thanks so much for reading...Jules

ok, really, that's just evil to leave that kind of cliffie for an entire week! And taunt us on top of it!!! Thank goodness Dean forgot his wallet! I knew that it would end up being bad that they had separated - it always does... So I have no clue what's going on here - although I suspect Lucy has to have something to do with it - could she be a trickster??? Trying to teach Sam not to be so pissy at his brother? Trying to teach Dean that it's normal for Sam to worry about him??? I'm betting I'm way off base here! LOL! Can't wait for next week.... don't you have winter holidays or something????
Author's Response: LOL - no holidays for bookkeepers at the end of the financial year, hon. It's the busiest time of the year. And I haven't stopped all July, apart from a day here and there. And yes, evil cliffie - and two more - or is it three - coming up. LOL - a few people over at sn.tv suspect poor Lucy too! No, it's not Lucy, but it's someone they've met....*grins evilly*...thanks Lisa....Jules

He called bobby?? isn't that going to widen the rift between them, Dean not trusting Sam enough to leave him alone? or maybe Dean just called to ask Bobby for something?? cuz i don't think it's anything wrong with Sam, but i think something's messing with his mind maybe?????
Author's Response: Well, calling Bobby won't widen the rift - but everything else seems to be doing just that. And you're right, something is messing with Sam's mind, ramping up his anger - let's hope they find out what it is before things get worse...Jules
