Oh no - poor guys, NOW what are you gonna throw at them? This story just sucks you in - there's a few good times, a whole lot of bad, and there's an arc building now that seems to point to one hell of an ending... Can't wait!

Well, the only sound here is the sound of the occasional plop of a terdrop hitting my laptop. That was beautiful, so quietly sad. I love the journal entry stlye, merged with third party, it is working so well. I love the repeated 'I got my brother back today.' It really is Sams be all and end all. 'I loved the whole 'start counting up the days' thing, the journal gives Sam a chance to be so much more expressive than mere thoughts. Really beautiful, emotive writing. Jane

Haven't reviewed the last couple of chapters, been having far too much fun reading 'em! the format of this story is fantastic - the 'sneak peek' effect of the journal entries, followed by the actual events as they happened is a great way to give us a real insight into Sam's mind during those events, and as a result, it feels as if we're seeing it from inside his head. the style of your writing is wonderfully powerful, really vivid, and i love watching Dean slowly come back to himself, that gradual emergence of the character we all know and love. Next chappie!

Awwwww, thanks moogs :-) Though no dedication would have been necessary, I'm just glad you're enjoying the banner. And I'm glad I'm not the only one who just doesn't get why Dean has such a low sense of self-worth. It's really driving me up the walls at times. Really. I mean, with what he's doing that guy is a frigging hero in most people's standard. The only reason that he's no comic book hero is that he doesn't have a superpower. And yet can't understand that somebody else is willing to make sacrifices for him. That he's worth the sacrifice, and that he's worth being saved. It's an essential Dean-trait, and I'm so glad you picked that one up for the story. And it's nice how you reveal a few glimpses and pieces about what Sam did to get Dean out of hell. And the mention of the second largest ball of twine gets you a plate of extra-cyber-cookies. Because honestly, that scene always makes me laugh ;-) Great chapter, I'm waiting for more.
Author's Response: I'm glad I made you happy! :) I definitely think Dean's self-worth issues are a key thing to address, because in my mind, that's one of the main things that drove him to make the deal in the first place - to Dean, the only thing that made his life really worth something was Sam, when we all know that there is so much more to him! :) (Although Sam is definitely a part of him, no doubt.) OOOOHHH.... cookies! *munches* Thanks for that - I'm hungry! :) I'm glad you mentioned that you noticed that... I was hoping you would. Maybe I'll have to give you some sort of prize... a oneshot about a topic you choose? Hmmm... well, let me know if that intrigues you... ;)

Feeling hopeful, but I just know there's lots of pain and angst over the horizon... love the simplicity of this style, the short chapters really give the tale pace when it would be all too easy to wallow in the moment. And favourite line? Easy: 'Sam felt something in him twist at the broken and haunted look in his brother's eyes.' Beautiful. Just beautiful.

Ooooh, new chapter :D I really like the style of these chapters, how you always tie the things that Sam writes in his journal in with the 'real-time' story you're writing. It's giving the story a nice flow. You really got them down in a good and credible tone - there's still a little awkwardness left between them, unsaid things and a slight distance that can be explained with Dean's experiences which Sam cannot share, but you see glimpses of the old relationship shine through. Love the fact that they both need the other around every once in a while. And banter about the car is always welcome. Right, now that I read this I think I'll see if I can figure out a banner for this story :D
