Whoa! You have me sitting here stunned. Of course Dean would need a quiet escape to face emotions he didn't want to face but knew that would climb out over his wall despite his best effort to shove them there.

Love it that out of his turmoiled thoughts for himself comes his need to make sure Sam makes that promise. Beautifully done.

Your style of writing this was amazing - those short, sharp sentences sure packed a punch and portrayed Dean's angry disappointment and and Sam's intuitive worry with bullseye accuracy.
