Thank heavens it was Travis. Chilling to think of the demon dogging their steps so closely and none of the Winchesters, not even John, being aware of it. And how horrible that Dean thought that by killing Travis, he'd killed Sam as well. Can understand his struggle - he'd promised both his dad and Sam, and he couldn't keep both. My money is on him keeping his promise to Sam, to save him. Because Sam's right - he always does. Thanks for sharing this, Cal. Jules
Author's Response: Heh, would I have him shoot Sam? Really? (Actually, yeah, I really would. Hmm...) I still love season two, and the quandry Dean's put in - those two promises that are in such conflict - is wonderful food for the plotbunnies! It's kind of weird, looking back on this story after the last couple of seasons, wondering how it relates to those promises for Dean and the Winchesters. Thanks for the reviews! Okay......whom did he shoot? Sam? Travis? I'm hoping it was Travis, but from that last line, I'm not so sure. That was.....intense....and it looks like Travis' powers are melting his brain, going by that bleed in his eye. I really hope the gun was aimed at Travis.... Jules

Oh.....my......gosh......*gasps for breath*.... Travis is WAY more powerful than Andy was - Andy couldn't influence Sam like that. Did not see that coming - one of the special kids doing the killing, and setting up things for the boys to kill each other at the end. OMG!!!!!! Azazel's manipulation. Part of his grand plan to make sure Sam really is the chosen one? Hopefully Sam can break free....soon..... Heart-stopping end to a chapter...geez, and they say I do evil cliffies...*rolls eyes* Think I need a wee break and a scotch bracer before going into the next chapter. Jules
Author's Response: Ha, yes, scotch is a good accompaniment to this one! I really wanted the 'truth' behind what's going on to be a surprise, so I'm very glad you didn't guess it before hand! And I'm especially glad you liked the way Dean revealed what John told him in the last chapter - that was the one bit that I angsted over, non-stop for bloody ages. I must've re-written it a half-dozen times before I was more or less happy with it! Enjoy the bracer, and the next chapter! Cal

Sam's reaction to the bruises on Dean's body were heartbreaking - how shattered did he feel, knowing his physical body did the damage, but unable to remember a single second of it, and helpless to stop what he couldn't even detect was controlling him? And Dean, see-sawing between needing to have his brother close, and not being able to look Sam in the eyes or say his name because of the feelings and memories it invoked. So, Dean's told Sam now what John said - and Sam's completely rocked by the news. And with whatever's going on in town with the entity that's controlling Sam, that's just doubled the burden on both brothers. Things are looking grim indeed...... Jules

Oh my gosh.....whatever has taken over Sam has bashed Dean.... And Sam doesn't remember a thing. It's obviously the same thing that has taken the other victims, probably latching onto Sam's psychic abilities like a child with the world's biggest lollipop. This is so not good....the situation, not the story, Cal. And if this is only chapter one, we're in for a hell of a rough ride before the guys figure it out. Jules

It took a totaly new place, but can't be a player hater. I still like it and just by be ing a little confused does not mean I can't finish the job in reading the finaly. I do think its scarring the hell of me that something is not right with the boys I think Sam is being controlled and to top it off he's probably sick. Thanks over all its real good.

oh, very image heavy and cool. Loved the descriptives and how it all played out. And yea, I'm a tad confused and wondering what it's leading to, but, the wondering is a good thing, I'm thinking, coz it's a strong beginning showing skill and talent. Excellent start.

Where to start? AWESOME. I gather this story is set in season 2... my favourite season. So this alone is a great thing.
Then, I love the angsty!Dean a lot, normally go for hurt!Dean, but the way you depict him, that's just terrific, and let's be honest, he is deeply hurt by Sam's words, so there is my hurt!Dean...
And Sam, gawd that poor bloke. He doesn't know what's going on, does he? Neither do I.... no demon, no ghost no nothing... maybe an infection of some kind, uhm, no that's my own story, hahaha.
Brilliant chap again, strong, powerful pictures and descriptions. I like details a lot, even the tiniest change in a face is depicted... Wish I could do that...
now my quotes (again only a few of the many possibilities, there are plenty)
....He stepped up, paused for a second on the threshold between the light and the shadow, between the warm and the chill, a feeling like gelid fingers trailing across his shoulder blades, down his spine as the hairs on his neck and arms shivered upright.... phew, wonderful contrast there and poor Sam. ....he heard eyes staring at him, felt the wailing howl of something, tasted its hate and it drove him to his knees, his long arms wrapped around his chest so tightly his shoulders cracked, muscles jumping as he shivered, jaw locked around the cry that was stuttering, trapped in his throat... absurdity and panic expertly written, weird feelings here, creepy and very spooky, goosebumps all over. Who/What's that thing looming in the dark, intriguing... ....Hazel eyes glared at him, a sneer twisting the familiar face into a mask of disgust that clawed at him..... evil!Sam, loved him on the show, adore him in your story. Poor Dean has to suffer again, I guess and he'll do anything to get his Sammy back, anything, we know that.... *sniff* ....too heavy with memory and hurt to see clearly. He watched back, until they were empty, hidden behind the two-sided mask, comedia turned out to the world, tragedia walling him in inside.... Dean's greatest achievement, his mask. Poetically expressed. And the picture with comedia and tragedia, this is art, babe. ....Fear bloomed in him, carbonised in its own heat as suddenly as it grew until it was a cold, hard stone glittering in the middle of his heart..... I'm so jealous right now. I know exactly how to write that in German, but in English, no way... You rock... That's all. Cal, I am very eager to know how this plays out and what Dean is gonna do, once he wakes up... So keep them chapters coming, it's gonna be a long summer and I need something to feed my hunger for the boys... Hugs, Ilka
