Another great story. I love Ben's integration into the Winchester family. I particularly like this story because of the conflict between Sam and Dean about Ben. I was wondering when that would happen. Also SNAFU and FUBAR caught my eye. So funny! lol! Again great story!
Author's Response: It was bound to happen, wasn't it? The conflict that is. Dean and Sam will always be two different people with very different views on life. Its one of the reasons I wrote these stories, in order to look at Dean and Sam via how they would raise a child. SNAFU and FUBAR - my two favorite terms that I learned from my husbands military career. Thanks again. Kim

I have just recently started reading this series. This one has been one of my favorites.
Author's Response: Thank you. Its one my favorite also. I particularly liked the bad guy in this one. And all of the "in the dark" bits. My daughter had similar (without a bad guy after her) experiences in a cave and she can't even read this story because she'll have nightmares. Kim

Another great story as ususal. Well done. In many ways it was a gentler story than others in this series, not quite so traumatic or emotional but still page turning. I was alittle surprised that Ben was allowed to go off with Eugene at the end without Sam or Dean there too, and even more surprised that he talked honestly with Eugene about his abilities. But I certainly think it was good for Ben to relax and talk to someone outside his family I just hope it doesn't come back to bite somewhere in the future.
Author's Response: I really liked Eugene and I thought he could really "see" Ben, for all that he is. Like you, I think it's important for Ben to have some outside influences to help him keep on his own track. Thanks for reading and reviewing - I am so grateful for it. Kim

What an awful choice to have to make. I pity Sam making the choice, Dean being helpless to influence the choice when he is so used to being in charge, and Ben for having to stay and hide with little water, little light and no doubt many horrors to endure.
Author's Response: It would be an aweful choice and one I wouldn't want to have to make. I hope i conveyed both of the guy's frustrations over the situation they were in. I took my kids caving and my daughter had an experience that has rendered her even incapable of watching anything with caves in it. She got stuck in a "corkscrew" with no light...not a pleasant experience. I really get a lot of inspiration from her fears, is that wrong? Thanks for reading and reviewing. Kim

are<you<going<to<write<anymore stories with dean and ben?
Author's Response: I hope to soon but my life is hectic right now. We just moved across the country and are in the process of looking for a place to live. Once I have my own house to live in and time to myself again, I'll be writing again. Thanks for asking.

Thank you for writing your stories. I love them all... especially those featuring Ben... I love how calm and rounded this story ends. Birngs a sense of closure and at the same time i don't get that depressed feeling like with other stories. I heard somewhere once that there are no such things as happy endings, just stories that aren't finished yet. I think it applies very well to your Ben Braeden stories. Amazing story. Thank you so much for sharing it with us :D :D :D
Author's Response: I like that saying. Even when things don't end up all lollipops and candycanes you should be able to leave a story with a sense of satisfaction. I'm honored that you feel I manage to do that with my stories. Thanks fo reading and for the review. You've made me feel great!

Kim, Excellent, Excellent, Excellent!!!!!!!! i was very sad to see it end. this was a great story i love how you write Dean, Sam and Ben. Ben is such a great character and i am glad you have explored and expanded him as such. i also like how you have Dean being so protective of him as well as Sam. Kate having to force him to first sit then lie down was great. i could picture her doing this and Dean trying to fight against it. hope you find the time to write another story about the 3 of them soon. Renee
Author's Response: Renee, I am so happy that you like my story. I'm glad the interaction between the three of them works for you. They are fun characters and such a treat to write. I'm working on another story with the three of them but I'm not sure how long until it'll be ready for posting. Thanks again! Kim

Thanking you is the order of the day. I have been a true fan of the Ben stories and you have made them ...huh...I can't even find the words.......I cry, I get angry, I laugh, I love......best I can do really. I hope you continue with the Ben stuff. The relationship you have created between the three guys is truly amazing and I feel priviledged to be allowed to be involved. Thanks again....:) Vicki
Author's Response: Vicki, Thank you. I'm glad that you have enjoyed it. I am writing more but I don't knowhow soon anything will be ready for posting. I really enjoy the relationship between the three guys myself, makes writing very fun. Kim

Does that mean you're quitting? NO you can't! You write good stories! More Dean and Ben (less of sam is fine) lol
Author's Response: NO! I'm not quitting. I love this writing thing way too much. I'm working on my Sam, he'll always be there. Thanks for the reviews! And for reading.

I'm glad Eugene came to understand the reasons Ben chose not to use his gifts. I love that you reinforced the importance of choices and the consequences that can lead from them. Great end to a marvelous story! I look forward to the next one.
Author's Response: At the end of it all I think choice is the core of life. We all have choices to make, some good and some bad, as long as we do our best to make the right choice we can't go wrong. I think we all get something out of this show called Supernatural and that is what I get. So, as long as I'm writing these little stories that will always be the underlying theme I'm trying to convey. Thanks so much reading and for leaving reviews. I really appreciate it.

Kim, Well you know I have no patience and hate cliffhangers and I always want to know what’s going to happen next so I was really excited to see the final chapter up. And what a great chapter! The big bad is dead and I’m waiting for everything to be neatly wound up but you went and pulled the tension out a little bit longer, didn’t ya? With Sam puking and passing out and then even poor Ben keeled over from blood loss you sure made us work for our happy ending. Loved the interaction between Ben and Longpre. His fascination with Ben and the way Ben slowly opened up to him, (maybe because Dean seemed to be coming around to him? Trusting Ben’s care to Eugene in the tunnels was a pretty big deal!) I would love to see this character explored more fully. And I really liked his o/protective big sister, Kate! Gotta love a feisty woman! So, yeah, really happy to see the final chapter. Until, of course, the ‘final’ part registers and it dawns on me that there’s no more to look forward to. Bit bummed now. Don’t know if you do requests, but I’m sure you’ve got a lot of time on your hands what with the kids annoying hubby and I’d hate for you to be bored, so... how about another Ben/Longpre/tortured Dean (pref with stitches) story? Go on, you know you love to inflict! Cheers for another darn good read! Kirsty x
Author's Response: Kirsty, It's funny because I killed the big, bad and thought that the story was done. I thought the next chapter would be short and sweet and done quick. Instead it just kept writing itself and writing itself. Everytime I handed to Katric for Betaing I'd send her another version of it with updates. It was great when it all finally solidified into the story that is here. I loved Ben and Longpre too. I've always had kind of a mystical feeling about Native Americans and wanted Longpre to come across that way. In the beginning a lot of readers were nervous about him becuse Dean was so nervous - when isn't Dean protective of his own? - but even Dean had to acknowledge he needed help. I'll look long and hard at your request to bring Longpre back. Dean with stitches is easy, so I should be able to fulfill that wish fairly soon. Thank you so much. I love your reviews and ou little chats. Kim

Oh, Kim, what a wonderful journey this has been. I love your ben stories, each one showing the ever evolving relationship between the three boys. dean growing and changing as a father, sam coming to realize how much ben means to him, and ben himself taking in grand concepts about life, the universe and everything, while still remaining an annoying, amazing. young boy. the way you write these characters is fantastic. i really enjoyed the conversation at the end between eugene and ben where he reinforces previous conversations ben's had with dean about making choices. you could almost see the lightbulb going off in ben's head as understanding begins to dawn. I loved this story from start to finish, and I know I'll be going back to read it again and again -- just like i do with several of your ben braeden stories! Thanks for the journey, Kim, and i'm looking forward to where we go next. --cricket
Author's Response: Cricket, Thank you so much. When people tell me that they are going to read my stories more than once, it means everything to me! Everything! I didn't expect this thing with Ben to become such a major part of my writing but he has completely taken over for me. When I started it all it was an attempt to look into Dean and Sam, not a story about Dean being a dad. I hope it is still working that way. The most I hope for when it comes to Ben is that he will always read the age he is. I hope that I am able to continue to do that as more Ben stories develop and Ben gets older. Thanks for your reviews. Thanks for reading. I am so appreciative of the time and effort. Kim

I loved when Ben called Kevin Stuart out as a Skin Walker! That boy is sooo a Winchester! I'm very interested to see what Eugene Longpre has to say concerning Ben.
Author's Response: I was wondering if it was too subtle, his calling him out. It's a major part of the Skin-walker lore that I researched so it was a very important moment. I really wanted Ben to really be getting the hunting thing and that he has to keep calm and in control even when things are out of control. I hope it came across that way. I liked Eugene as a character right away but many other were uncertain about him. I hope he works for you in the end. Thank you for reading and for all the reviews.

And another fantastic chapter from you Kim, this story has gone from strength to strength all the way and you already know what I think about your other 'Ben' stories...all awesome! Hope you don't have to leave it too long before posting again, I need my fix of your work...lol Well done mate, another great read! XX Louy

Yeah, good job Ben. How did the other 2 cope before you? Well, Kim, I'm glad you and Katric sorted your priorities and ignored real life in order to get this chapter up cos it was fantastic. Finally killed the freaky bastard - Yay! Are we gonna find out more about Longpre? Reckon he might get his own little spin off story? Think you could do some interesting things with him helping Ben with all that 'spiritual' stuff. With his dad being an archangel and his uncle a possible antichrist, maybe he needs a different, less intense perspective. A bit more tree hugging and a bit less being kidnapped and tortured would do the kid a world of good. Anyway, looking forward to next update once you've got that darned RL problem sorted. Kirsty x
Author's Response: Kirsty, I don't know how they got through life without dear little Ben. Writing stories without him is going to be a challenge for me now. How am I going to get a long without him? Katric and I have all the right priorities....right! I was so grateful to her for Betazoiding (joke for us) that chapter for me. I was sitting on the ground in an empty living room telling my husband, "Just a few more minutes and then I'll mop that floor, I promise." He was sweet and didn't nag too much. We got it all done, though, and we are all where we belong (for the time being). You like Longpre? Cool, I like him too. I think civilians exposed to the Supernatural world are fascinating stories. I'll put some thought into him and see if anything rattles out of my head. I agree that an outside perspective would be a one good for Ben. Maybe once we get a resolution to Dean's deal I'll finally tell Ben what happened to Dean so that he can see the full implications of his life. I'm hoping to be up and running officially tonight. I plan to work on my next chatper today once I've caught up with my work. Thanks again, Kirsty. I really appreciate your support. Kim

Once again, fun at the Winchester Ranch... And, the fact is, families are annoying. It's a fact as old as...well, you get the idea. Perfectly executed annoying moments. Speaking from experience here, of course.

Cute chapter! Reminds me of some of the interactions within my family. I guess the expectations of adults can be high when a child normally behaves more maturely than their age would dictate. It's hard to let those children be kids.
Author's Response: Thank you. I needed a break from the heaviness of the last chapters. Kids can be such fun and such a pain sometimes. I think we've all known at least one kid, either related or not, that just loves to make us twitch. I do think Sam's expectations of Ben would be high. I also think that Ben would normally strive to achieve those expectations but you can't expect a kid to be good all the time, now can you? Thanks for reading and for the review. I really appreciate it.
