This could only have been written from Sam's pov. In light of everything he witnessed in the cabin, in light of what his father demanded of him. You have once again dug deeper into the psyches of all three Winchesters and pulled out what is really there, warts and all. Not liking some of it, but understanding it are two distinct things.

John calling Dean weak and his "I needed you to be a man, Sam" was hard to read. However you also gave us perspective when you gave us John's reaoning - for John it's always about the hunt and the YED is the utopia of all hunts.To kill it, to exact revenge, it doen't matter why, for John it was an opportunity lost. I get it even if I don't like it much, especially when given against Sam's thinking, which you did so succinctly.

So much of this fic got to me.This was a stand out for me: "I'm your jerk. Sam's smile faded, and he nodded. "Damn straight." So much understood from these few words, for each of the brothers, for us readers.

But this was an absolute scene stealer: "It's worth it," he said softly, his breath brushing against Sam's cheek. "All of it. Because of the brother thing." Freaking awesome. Love it.

Another stunning piece of work that dovetails the series and your AU perfectly.

Fantastic!  I loved your take on the aftermath of this episode.  I think you have captured Dean's strength beautifully - ten men and then some!
