I found it just a little jumpy but otherwise a terrific chapter.  Ruth is one of the creepiest spirits I've run across.  And I'm dying to know what exactly happened to her and Dean that day/night.  You've given us very tantalizing glimpses and I can't wait to here the entire tale.

As always thank you for the pointers - I found your last piece of advice very helpful in a previous chapter, and trust in your talents - I was wondering how the memory lane trip would come across.

Then you bolster my spirits with your way too kind compliment on Ruth - but THRILLED that she works for you. All will be revealed between our Dean and Ruth. Glad that this story is tantalizing and NOT irritatingly slow to reveal .... trust you would tell me this also?!!!!

In general I don't like to review something that is incomplete.  However, a tip ofthe hat to what you've got so far.  You have a real eye for detail and an excellent "ear" for what your characters sound like.  Nicely done , so far so good, and keep it up.  You have captured my interest, that's for sure.

Another interesting update.  Was a little confused between the flashbacks/present day, it might help if you use scene breaks.

But still I loved the chapter.  This ghostly little girl surely has it out for our boy Dean.  I particularly liked (sick person that I am) the part where Dean's laying on the floor completely out of it, bleeding from the ears, and Sam's yelling his name, etc.  I LOVE stuff like that.

Re-reading it with your comment in mind I agree and will play around with it. (I am relieved that you still managed to enjoy the chapter.)

Glad that there are other sickos out there like me ....LOL! I LOVE hurt Dean - reading it .... writing it .... imagining it - why is he so damn enjoyable to toy with .... ?Poor Boy!!!!! (*Hangs head in shame *)

I am glad you approve, as I am pretty much going to mess with him some more before the end!!!!

Wow... what an awesome start to the story! i'm sorry i missed it when it first started out, but i'm glad i caught up to it! it's getting pretty interesting, and i would like to know more...and i hope that both Sam and Dean would forgive the Pastor! i hate to think that they parted on bad terms!!!

Ok, I was getting a little confused with all the flashbacks but by the end of the chapter everything seemed to fall into place. whatever happened to ruth?

Thank you for taking the time to read and review this. But most especially for your honesty - the fact that my chapter lost you there for a while, prompted me to go back and define some of the areas you found "blurry". The Flashbacks are a continuation of Dean's dreams from the first chapter - in Ch2 he has been knocked out cold in the bar's gents room. He is dreaming about a girl named Ruth- I have added Ruth's name to the dream sequence, and hope that signposts the way a bit better than I had previously. As you might have guessed, I am trying to reveal this story slowly - the mystery of the girl, Dean's connection to her, Jim's strange behavior and the hunt itself, but if I am holding my cards too tight and my story isn't being suspenseful but unclear... well I am just grateful to you for pointing this out. As a writer I have become addicted to reviews... and who doesn't want to be told there story is good, but what you have done for me as a reviewer is improve my chapter (well I am hoping you find it's improved!!! :-) ) so thank you for that. It was a great help.

Hope you are still enjoying it - working out chapter three now.

Great start Abi, and you had me hooked from the first description of that church and the light streaming in through the windows...awesome writing!

And I'm also a huge fan of Wee!chester so the flashbacks are great too. The ten year old Dean fighting was very well written and was playing out in my head as though I was watching it...Great work all round and I'm watching out for the next chapter.

I love churches, the atmosphere is charged and yet peaceful, the directions you find your mind wandering in (yes I am admitting to wandering off for short periods during the longer sermons!LOL) I find it just satisfying - my fortress and my high ground... no I am not a Nun!!! ;-) Thank you for the compliment on the writing.

This is my first attempt at Wee!chester, it's something I too enjoy reading and wanted to try my hand at. Glad the bully scene worked for you. Even more happy at the thought of you sticking with this and letting me know what you make of it, always find your observations helpful.
