I sincerely loved your writing on the 4 men's thoughts and feelings. Got right in there and scooped it all out for us to read. Good job.

Author's Response:

Thanks so much!  CSPWDT was one of those episodes that just hung with me, I could not get that last scene out of my head and I had to write something in response.

Then Kripke brilliantly brought up all the same issues again with Dean's deal so the Bobby chapter completed the work.  Bobby really did become a member of the family, as close as blood IMHO in AHBL2.

Thanks for reviewing, B.J.

Loved hearing Bobby's thoughts on this, the cruellest of all the fates assigned to the Winchesters, in my opinion. Not Mary's death, or John's, not even the demon's plans for Sam - but the total loss of the soul of Dean Winchester. Not consigned to hell because of a deal with a demon, but lost because he cannot see the immeasurable value of himself. SOMEONE IN HIS FAMILY SHOULD HAVE CONVINCED HIM OF HIS OWN WORTH LONG AGO!! But I like to think the tide is turning with Sam, and this chapter illustrates that so well. And I love the idea of Uncle Bobby, by the way. Thank you so much.

Author's Response:

Yes, I love Uncle Bobby! He is so close to Dean and you could see how much he loves him, like his own son.  Dean not only dying, but surrendering his soul and not feeling his life mattered is the great tragedy of the Winchesters. No doubt about that.

Bobby's anguish over the deal was heartbreaking, but he was also devastated by Dean's lack of self-worth.

I do think the tide is turning and Sam is realizing just how much help his brother needs and he will be there for him, just like Dean has always been there for Sammy.

Thanks so much for all the wonderful, insightful reviews. I love hearing what parts of my stories resonate with the reader.  Makes all the long hours of writing so worth it.

Take care, B.J.

Great work again. Loved the description of John and Mary's courtship, and the fortune cookies were a masterpiece. So glad there's one more chapter!

Author's Response:

Thanks again! I love seeing John and Mary happy, so rare and a treat to write.

I know nothing about Chinese food, but I knew I needed to get the fortune cookies into the story as a kind of prophecy of what was coming.

Glad I mustered the strength for this! Another awesome chapter. Lots of very perceptive lines, I love this one:

What wounds his heart the most is the knowledge you wouldn't change your plans to ease his pain, no..., you wouldn't stay for your own living brother, but now you'll totally reverse course to please your dead dad.

And you have really nailed Dean's abandonment issues (completely justified in my opinion!) and Sam's realisation about the real value of the nickname Sammy. Beautiful parallels at the end of both chapters too.

Am I reading straight on? You bet!

Author's Response:

Thanks again, your reviews are absolutely lovely.

I loved how Dean looked at Sam when he asked if he meant what he said to Cooper about not wanting to go to school and live regular. So telling what Jensen can put in one look.

Dean certainly does have plenty of cause to feel abandoned. I also loved how pleased Dean looked when Sam told Gordon that Dean was the only one who could call him Sammy.

Jensen always puts so much into his acting, it is a total pleasure to observe that and then try to fit a story around it.

Wow. A beautiful job exploring Dean's anguish - and the sheer exhaustion of it. I'm almost too paralysed to read on...... except  I want more! So heading straight into chapter 2. Hope I'm strong enough......

Author's Response:

Thanks! Yeah, Dean has suffered so much in his lifetime and then this last season just piled the pain on him.

I wonder how he finds the strength to continue on, but he always keeps going because of Sammy and his drive to protect him.

Thanks so much for this wonderful "series". And big, big thanks for bringing "Uncle" Bobby into the mix. I always loved his character, but the scene with Dean in AHBL2 just blew me away. Jim Beaver totally knocked it out of the park. Bobby will always be the honorary-Winchester for me - a dubious honour perhaps....

Author's Response:

Thanks so much for the wonderful review and the five star rating.

I totally fell in love with Bobby during that scene with Dean. He is part of the family and I will hunt down Kripke myself if he lets anything happen to Bobby! LOL

I wanted to do a tag for AHBL and this story although finished months ago seemed the perfect place to add a chapter with Bobby's perspective on Dean's new deal.

Thanks again and take care, B.J.

Man, you're killing me, Bobby has always been a fav. of mine, and this only cemented that.  Wonderful job - Thanks for the read - K

Author's Response:

Jim and Jensen both killed me with their powerful scenes in AHBL2.  The love was so evident, Bobby is part of the family.  He proved that in this episode and the boys so need that older, fatherly mentor to turn to in their struggles.

Thanks for all the reviews, always appreciated. Take care, B.J.

Just wonderful, really nice job, with both Dean and Sam. - K

Author's Response: Thanks. I love delving into their minds and trying to figure them out. Later, B.J.
