Awesome update, this felt like walking together with Sam through this nightmare. Sheer horror when the harpy (breathtaking good!!) attacked Jenni (still hope she's not dead, really like this girl) and Sam searching for Dean, this was so scary. The ending, still try not to panic completely, well I trust you with this, cause Sam wouldn't last long without his brother and this just can't be!! As always, thank you so much for this fantastic work!
Author's Response: Wow, I think you're the first one who said that they trusted me after I left the last chapter where I did. That's nice for a change. LOL. I could never kill off one of the boys, I don't do death fics - they're depressing. So Dean will be fine, and Jenni's not going to die either. She'll have a long recovery ahead of her, but she'll be ok in the long run. Harpy will be returning after this next chapter - time to finish her off. I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for the review!

0_0 What. The heaping. Heck. If Dean dies, I'll kill you and then cry hysterically. Then bury you and then dig you up and clone you, and kill all your clones. And then I'll never talk to you again. But if Jenni dies, it would make sense. She's too deeply invested in the boys to have convincingly survived much longer. And Sam was in need of some serious traumatic guilt.... But you can't kill Dean. It's just wrong.
Author's Response: No worries - I don't do death fics. I find them depressing, so Dean will be just fine. Jenni is invested really deep into the boys - but I can't kill her off either. Sam is still in for a guilt ride though, so it's going to be emotionally trying for him. But I won't ever kill off one of the boys. Thanks for the review!

Very special chapter, amazing how you balanced the threat that is always perceptible (feels like the air is charged with suspense the whole time - great!!) and grows as Dean's fears do and on the other side these wonderful quiet moments the brothers share (showed so much they are home for each other) and the food-scenes, glad they had these lighter moments, that's something they can hold onto when things get rough; these scenes are like safe little islands in all this darkness and you did a fantastic job with it, enjoyed it sooo much!! Scary ending, seems the harpy is very near now (as you know, no other version can beat yours!) - again, great work! And, hope you will feel better soon!!!
Author's Response: Thank you for that, I'm glad that you enjoyed the last chapter so much. This hunt certainly won't be one that the brothers will forget any time soon. It certainly gave them quite a bit of down time, something they rarely ever get, but that's about to be shattered. Harpy is back and she's gonna make her move. Like I promise she strikes hard and fast, and it isn't gonna be pretty. A lot of Dean's unlike Dean behavior will be explained in this chapter, you'll see when Sam figures it out. Hope you enjoy it. So good to have you back! Life sure does have it's rough spots sometimes, doesn't it; really hope you are feeling better!! As always this chapter was such a delight! Jenni and Dean chatting about the Vampire book (especially liked this, Vampire stories one preference I share with Jenni) was a nice light spot here. But after this, things darkened - starting with Jenni's premonition joined with Dean's fears, what a grand scary scene!! And even then Dean's only thought and worry was Sam, well this goes both ways as you show later, amazing guys! Oh, and a very sweet little scene when Jenni washed Dean's face. With Dean's condition still so serious and Sam's relapse (sounds like a bad one) the harpy is a bigger threat than ever before, just hope Sam will be able to find Jenni in time, what a frighening prospect!!
Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed the spot with the Twilight reference - it was a lot of fun for me as I've been reading them again lately, and for the most part it was enjoyed. I thought it was a bit of a lighter spot in a story that's been pretty dark - especially with some of the parts coming up. They are gonna be rough. The harpy won't be making her move yet - it's coming up quick though and when she hits it's gonna be hard and fast. There is a reason Dean had Sam drive the car - and that reason will be explained in a couple chapters. So it'll be easier to understand why Dean was so insistent even though Sam wasn't feeling his best. Thanks for the review!

wow...i dunno if i like the twilight reference...it seemed so awkward, like bringing Dean and Sam's world into ours by force. it didn't fit properly....i've loved this story so far, its been one of my faves, and I'm an uber fan of the twilight series (anything by stephenie meyer, actually), so maybe its just me, but that was wierd. love this fic tho - again, it's been one of my favorites. please don't misunderstand my comment. any criticism i have is purely constructive - and this is hardly a criticism, just a perspective. :) update quickly! It really isn't hard to be patient when your reward are these great chapters! Again you have wonderful brother-moments in here and you cover this relationship in such a stunning way; I just loved the way both expressed their fear and need for each other when they were talking, as I said - stunning! Now I can't wait to see how they will fight the harpy (her reappearance was so creepy, awesome). What a treat, thank you!!

I'm glad you enjoyed the brotherly moments - I really enjoy doing those. It is nice for the brothers to have a little break from all things supernatural and just focus on being a family once in while. Although, a lot of action isn't too far in coming - and with it a whole lot of blood shed. The harpy is very unhappy and will be even angrier in chapter 44 - I'm brewing up ideas as I type. Great news your dog is doing better, big relief I bet. Liked it a lot when Sam helped Jenni with the cooking, such a "normal" activity being so special for Sam, showed how different their lives are (great!). Also I admire the way the guys cope with their fears (it was a shock for Dean to remember Harry and the promise) and despite this and their condition they're still determined to finish the job, so other people will be safe, this really is bravery!
Author's Response: Yes it is a big relief that Jack is doing better, it wasn't easy helping him get over his surgery, but we made it. It's hard to believe that the small scar on his tummy is all that's left. I'm glad you enjoyed Sam's cooking with Jenni - I really enjoyed doing something that would be so normal for us but is something that is so special for him. It was a big shock for Dean remembering Harry - and it is going to be a trying few days for them, especially after this next chapter. The brothers know that they have to get this taken care of though - they can't let the harpy go on hunting. Thanks for the review!

It's always a joy to read the new chapters and no difference this time! Very glad Dean is better (enjoyed his car remarks) and Jenni is there to look out for Sam, he does need it; Jenni really is some brave little lady. Also Dean and Sam had a good talk, especially liked Dean saying "our choices define us, Sam, make us who we are", this tell so much about these two. Still - they are not out of the wood and I'm looking so forward to your next update!!! Hope your dog is better, know how it feels when a pet is sick or hurt!! Fingers crossed!!!

I think I figured out why Jenni buggs me... Because she is such a well rounded figure I get a much more detailed image of her as a person. But I think she gives me the heebiejeebies because she seemes way too relaxed with the entire previous situation. Haven't quite fihured her out yet. I like her cooking sequences though. You sound like you like to cook? So far great story. And so many wonderful chapters.
Author's Response: Jenni does seem very well rounded doesn't she - I think, honestly she's just really good at suppressing how she really feels. Things took another nasty turn, real bad I'd say (you promised to fix it so, remember?). The drive to the hospital felt like a hell-ride, really a tough one, could feel how desperate Sam was. I'm worried quite a bit about Dean's condition and the news Dr. Burken has for Sam and Jenni, don't know how much more they can handle!
Author's Response: Things did take a bit of a nasty turn didn't they. I know that I promised to fix it - and I promise I will. I was taught from an early age that if you borrow someone's toys you need to return them in the condition you borrowed them in. So although a little worse for wear the brothers will be ok by the time I'm done. The trip to the hospital was one big hell ride for the brothers wasn't it - glad you liked it. Thanks for the review!

Another very intense chapter, all three struggle, but they won't give up, doing their best. You're catching this atmosphere just perfect, the hidden fears, painful memories, the tension and the love that keeps them fighting - and what they have is worth the fight for sure. Great job!
