Think I'm gonna have nightmares tonight... But I can live with that - awesome story! Love the 'Stop that' thing running all through it, a great way to kind of lighten the tone before you go and give us the full whammy. Can't wait for more!

Oh, Muffy no! Please don't let Sammy become an orc!!... Please don't end it there, that was cruel. Those awful creeping tendrils covering Sam, and now one has stabed into Dean, the build up of panic here is just overwhelming. We need some serious anti-orc mojo to get our boys out of this one. I love the way the two boys are continually trying to play down the seriousness for each other. Both aware that it's not working, but trying anyway. Until now, "Too late," Sam whispered. "Dean, I'm sorry." Oh, so heartbreaking and the image of Dean sitting there holding Sam when he can no longer keep the growths at bay. I'm reaching for my tissues here. Pleease update soon and fix Sammy, he'd be way too freakishly tall even for an orc! Loved the update even with the wicked cliffie!! Have they given you your laptop back yet, or are you still being rationed? I hope you're working your way back to full health and feeling better very soon. x Jane x
Author's Response: Oh thank you so much Jane! *hugs* I won't let Sammy become an orc, promise! I'm glad the tension is still building, I always worry when I start getting out to chapter nine or ten. I love the way they downplay the seriousness too. It makes me love those boys just that mich more, but even they eventually lose the battle to stay cheerful. The final scene nearly killed me, Dean is mad and making it hard to write, the brat. I told him we'd get Sammy out soon. My laptop is back nearly full time. I've been madly catching up on my novels, the mystery is finished and in the final editing to go in the mail 17-June and the other is down tot he last chapter. *sighs* can't wait till I have time to just read and write fic for awhile! *hugs* Muffy

Damn it--what an evil cliffy! Please tell me it didn't just end like that!! Tell me Sam's gonna be okay. You actually brought tears to my eyes. Have to admit, most gory stuff doesn't bother me---but THIS does. I am soooo totally creeped out by this black Orc fungus. My stomach actually churns when I read the chapters. I certainly hope that Sam will survive or that Dean was just dreaming that cliffy or something.

Oh my God! Those growths are just gross! Poor Sammy, what else can go wrong? At least he's survived in the past - I knew that - but he was just so near deaths door! What was in that drink they gave him that triggered off the creepy tendrils? They're not trying to turn our Sammy into a Forest Demon are they? Oh, and what's going on with his head now, is it that glittery stuff back again to haunt us? I just love the cultivated land, keeping those freaky orcs away, Dean needs to catch up on a little sleep, and the spear and magical machete are sounding so very cool too. Can't wait to see Dean go into battle - maybe a bit more Aragorn rather than Frodo!! As always your dialogue/thoughts between the boys give such depth and wonderful insight into their mutual love and dependancy. Wonderful update as always. Jane

I love when that happens, it just always surprises me. Dean needs to catch up on a little sleep, and he needs some quiet time with Sam. The rest before the battle. I'm hoping it's more Aragorn and less Boromir...that wouldn't be good. (And you just gave me a fabulous idea!) Thank you again, more very soon.

I am loving this story. I have laughed out loud so many time I can't count. I love the way you have Sammy reading Dean's thoughts so many times but this last time in Chapter 8 where he did but you didn't put Dean's thoughts in the story was awesome. LOVED IT!!! Keep it coming. I can't wait to see how Dean will get them out of this one and I want to know what happened in the past, too. UPDATE SOON!!!

OMG! I'm pleased the past is the past and that we know Sammy survived it, cause things look so bad for him. He's so weak he can't even hold on for Dean anymore!! I guess John must have worked some sort of miracle in that helicopter, I love the way the two tales are unfolding, even if they are terrifying me....lol Back in the present, the beasties are revealed - I was wondering what could make a Wendigo scream as it was eaten alive - well they certainly don't disappoint, Forest Demons, or as Dean prefers 'a bunch of freaking Orcs?' Now the plot thickens, what is keeping them away from that side of the river? Part of me still thinks the boys're being herded somewhere. I loved Dean's special surprise, potatoes and spam followed by rice pudding and cherry pie filling, don't you just love camp food. Some of my best ever meals have been pot messes whiilst camping, there's a lot to be said for fresh air and extreme hunger to enhance flavour and appreciation. As always, your unspoken conversations between the boys show the true love and concern behind the spoken words and humour. Thank you for another gripping update, just what are those freaking orcs up to? Please update soon as I doubt Gandalf or Frodo are going to come and rescue our boys any time soon!! Love the story. Author's Response: Oh thank you so much! The past is unfolding nicely. I'm glad figured something out and headed that way. He and I have had issues in the past and sometimes he can be difficult to handle. I was so worried about my beasties. I was convinced everyone had figured it out and when I got around to it they would go "yep, saw that coming" I'm so happy it worked! And yeah, I wish Gandolf and Frodo would come, but I think Dean will just have to step up and take the sword of the king himself. I adore camp food, but you know it NEVER tastes the same at home. You're right, fresh air, hunger, being "out" all add up to better food. I swear coffee tastes better too, even camp coffee full of grounds!

Oh no, what is it that's hunting them that could fill both boys with such horror?? Well, at least they survived the night in the cave and managed to get some rest, without a visit from the big bads (whatever they may be!). I think they neede a chance to recharge their batteries, I loved Sams' reaction to the pills....lol. The dark shape up above throwing rocks, the scent of death and charred flesh on the wind and the gurgling screams managed to keep the tension up very nicely. The flashbacks are giving Dean a very good reason to hate camping and gradually revealing the full story to Sam (and us). Sam answering all Deans unspoken thoughts is working beautifully and further illustrating the incredible bond they have. Please update soon, I'm still no closer to figuring out what those beasties are!! Great update, Jane
