Really liked the way you depict Sammy's grief here - giving him something to compare to Dean's experience after Cold Oak - especially "Every breath without his brother was painful…..every heart beat". And Dean's loss was sudden, Sam realises that he has been preparing himself (unsuccessfully - because nothing ever does I guess) for the conclusion of the Deal, yet when it comes (albeit early) he is devastated. What chance did Dean have of coping?

Love the tracks you have Dean's mind flowing down, Ben and Lisa, and passing on something to Sam, wishing he had more to give and releasing Sam from that titanic sense of duty that had worn him down all his life.

The clincher for me in all this was when Dean refers to Sam as "the best of the Winchesters", he is the one the other two fought so hard and surrendered so much to save.

I have to admit that I haven't watched this episode, but I can appreciate the warm, touching heartfelt way you have written this. Good job author! Thanks for the read.

Wow. a powerful story. had me blinking my eyes to keep the tears from falling. there are many many teasers to MS but i think yours are right up there among the best. do write more stories! :)
