My brain is a muddle after work, but I really enjoyed this.  I like the tone of it, the language style.

Author's Response:

Thank you very much!  This episode gave us all a lot to think about.

I really enjoy being able to write the shorter, more to the point tags.  Take care, B.J.

Another day, another fight; a last chance to set the world right.

This is the Winchester motto isn't it! Great read BJ! Very philosophical, but that's okay  we all get philosophical.  I agree with the thought that Dean not allowing Nancy to sacrifice herself, this shows that Dean is not willing to relinquish his humanity to win this war...Though the inevitable outcome that the demon "girl" came in and killed everyone they struggled to save must still weigh on the boys conscience...I believe that it will be their saving grace, especially Sam's, that Dean did not allow them to sacrifice what was right for what was easier...

Kripke really has us thinking a lot this season doesn't he!

Author's Response:

Hey, Gen, He most certainly does!

The Winchesters face unimaginable evil and in doing so have to do unimaginable things, tough actions and harsh circumstances.  Things we would shudder to even contemplate, yet Dean after living thru all that so clearly saw the line and refused to cross over.  Quite amazing, when you stop and consider that many lesser men would have done the deed "to save the many", just one small sacrifice for the good of mankind.

Yep, so many philosophical questions and we are often left to come up with our own answers.  Bardicvoice at Supernatural.tv had a very nice take on this in her review of the episode on the site.

I am sure the brothers feel the weight of everyone dying, but it was not their fault.  They did do the right thing, but sometimes the right thing turns out so wrong.  LOL, I just quoted from The Berrisford Agenda... yep, I'm a Jensen freak!

Take care, B.J.

Very good. You have excellent insight and I enjoy reading your philosophical view.

Author's Response:

Thank you very much.  This was one of those episodes that stayed with you, that your mind just kept going over and over.

I love when Kripke and company stir all these emotions and thoughts and makes us consider what we would do if placed in the position of the Winchesters.  Take care, B.J.

Philosophical rant it may be, but those are without doubt the best kinds, and what you've done is make the reader truly appreciate the choices the Winchesters have to make and the potential consequences and outcomes of those decisions.

It's one of the reasons I love the show, they may be rubbish at continuity with regards to injury and sometimes come up with lines so cheesy you can smell the cheddar, but they always tread on philosophical territory and I love every minute of that.

Great piece of writing, the standard I've come to expect from you!

Author's Response:

Thank you!  I too love how Kripke and company manage to bring up all these philosophical ideas while also giving us a fun, dramatic and scary show.  How they manage to pack so much into forty minutes astounds me.

The Winchesters are amazing for what they do and for all the hard decisions they are forced to make and then live with.  I was so proud of Dean in this episode, taking that stand even if it ultimately came to losing the war.  That is true courage and it does make one pause and wonder if we would be as clear-headed in a crisis like that.

Take care, B.J.

I liked this, BJ! My mom used to say "In trying to do right, it's not the doing that makes or breaks us, it's the trying." She has been gone many years, but your words brought her words back to me. Thank you!

Author's Response:

Wow, what a lovely review!  Thank you.  The Winchesters are facing more difficult trials than most of us will ever face.  It is fascinating to see them strive to do right.  I loved when Dean said if that's what it takes to win wars, then I don't want to win.  That is a man who stands by his ideals.

I am so honored that my story touched you and reminded you of your mom.  All we can do is try, the end result is often out of our control.  Take care, B.J.

Deep thoughts....but it makes for something to think about. Some people will just look and not participate, while others jump into the action and try their best to alter the outcome....i think that's just the way humans are and always will be.. :)

Author's Response:

How true!  What I love about the Winchesters is they always try to step up and help people, even sacrificing their own wants and needs to do the right thing.  They are so very noble and just who we need on the front lines protecting us.

Thanks for reading and reviewing and sharing your thoughts.  Take care, B.J.
