What the hell was I thinking reading this the friggin' day before the finale... I was already in knots and then I go read this fantastic story -- which you've CONTINUED, you mean thing -- and have us hanging on to a ceremony that may possibly save our boy and... *curls in on self* I've really enjoyed the excerpts and quotes you've peppered throughout the story -- I've wanted to quote them back to you many times but I forgot by the time I got to the reviewing part. I like Sam's promise, too, to let Dean let him be there "in the end"... I'm curious as hell as to what this Gaimon-related ceremony is going to mean. I want you to know that I think you're a fantastic storyteller, and that if I don't get to your stories right away it is in no way a reflection of my opinion of the stories or the writing. It's more a reflection of my limited time and attention span. And as you know, writing balances me, and I couldn't possibly concentrate on one of my random stories while reading something this well-researched and nicely contrived. So, I will search out your sequal, but may wait again until it's completed before I read. Not that you're waiting for me... anyway, I'll shut up now. It was a great ride and there were moments when I wanted to climb inside the screen to be close to them. Thanks for writing and for sharing your talent with us all. Gaelic
Author's Response: What a fantastic review, in fact all of them...Thank you a million times over for the massive confidence boost that comes with reviews like this. It makes me run back to the laptop and start tapping. I couldn't be happier to hear you liked this and I hope you'll like the sequel when it's done...XXX Louy

I keep forgetting to mention David and Burgess -- their connection to the museum and the ceremony has been interesting. And I love how you have your Bobby refer to the brother's as "his boys." So sweet. Also loved Dean showing up and standing between the ravens and his loved ones. I still wonder if he's going to remember anything of the ceremony and what that might mean...
Author's Response: David and Burgess play quite a big part in the sequel, well David does at least, as does Bobby....and as far as the memories..awe, can't give too much away just yet..lol XX louy

There were some great lines in this -- the description of Sam looking like porcelain... one slip and he'd crack? Nice. And I loved the description of Dean's spaciness when he woke up and they moved from one motel to another. The idea that they had to finish the hunt -- despite Sam's arguement to the contrary -- because they'd started it, they broke the sigil, was fitting. Oh, and before I forget -- I loved the "Winchester way" that if one fell, he took the other one with him. Man, I'm so nervous about tomorrow's finale...
Author's Response: Ah, the finale...only just watched it and what a ride...how will they ever follow that? Not sure I'm going to cope with the summer break...but at least that leaves more time for R&Ring...lol XX Louy

Dude -- I almost forgot about Gaiman with the Black Dog in the previous chapter. Took me a minute to realize that was where they were doing the ritual and it was, well, kinda the whole point. I loved Sam's "honesty is the best policy" way of getting what he needed from Dean. He does have dewy, sensitive eyes, doesn't he? God, this story is so great -- I'm glad I waited to savour it. And you are making me ITCH to start writing again... :)
Author's Response: Well you've just made my day twice, first by saying you'd forgotten about the Gaiman plot, which is great because I wanted to have the thread, but make the story as accesable as possible for those who had no idea about the whole Sandman mythology. And second, because ANYTHING that helps us get another Gaelic story is OK by me!!! XX Louy

OMG, best chapter yet. Sam's desperate fight with the black dog to free Dean... Dean's pain and his ability to give in to oblivion because he knew Sam wasn't going anywhere... this whole ritual stuff with Bobby and Sam and drinking that stuff... I liked the image of Dean's eyes filming over like they did in "Faith" - but I'm wondering if this hope for him to forget the ritual is a bit too much to hope for... Great chapter, my friend!
Author's Response: Aha, my psychic friend, as it happens the memory of those events do surface but not till the sequel...and I'm so chuffed you liked this chapter, it was one of my favorite to write. XX Louy

*deep breath* WOW -- that dog attack was well done. Just really, really well done. I actually held my breath. I loved Dean's musings as he walked for coffee. He doesn't want to be forgotten. So simple and so true. For all of us. We want to matter. To someone. Reading on...
Author's Response: That is such a compliment, thank you, and especially as I've just finished watching the finale and WOW, still reeling. There are NO tissues left in my house...lol Thanks Gaelic and I'm glad you're enjoying...XX Louy

*heart breaks* >>dry, red rimmed eyes, hollow bruised sockets, he looked so young…he looked helpless... Man, I am SO dreading this Thursday... but yet looking forward to ending the wondering... Okay, the body with the femur and the blood and the birds... *GAH* And now I'm humming Triumph. Really, really great stuff, and I'm so curious about this thing Bobby and Sam have cooked up. I'll have to come back tomorrow, though... Thanks for writing!! GS
Author's Response: I must be a horrible person deep down, because as soon as someone tells me my story has made their heart break, I'm on cloud nine...does that make me evil? Who knows? And I'm the same, trying to stay spoiler free and trying not to dwell on what might happen, but I really just want to have it over and done with now so we can all start talking about season four...And Asylum 2009...lol XXX Louy

I loved the part at the beginning with Dean's memories of some of his firsts. I found myself smiling softly as if I, too, were remembering that. >> Comedy and Tragedy. The two extremes of emotion, so alien to one another and yet so alike that often if you didn’t laugh you’d cry... You may have just defined my life. I often say that my husband is the eye of my hurricane because I'm usually one of those extremes depending on the situation. I like how it could have been the Winchester Coat of Arms. :) And the birds? Dude. Fish and birds both freak me out. I could barely get through Alfred Hitchock's movie. And now you have Poe's pet attacking our boys?! EEK! Very creepy. Okay, maybe one more chapter...
Author's Response: Don't like birds, huh? Ummm...the birds in this one are just poor, lonely, misunderstood beasties, who'd never hurt a fly under normal circumstances, I promise...lol I always thought that comedy/tragedy was exactly what Kripke was going for most of the time, the show just swings from hilarious to gut-wrenching in the blink of an eye...but I wouldn't have it any other way. Must have a think and see if I can introduce some demonic fish into the sequel - and believe it or not, there are some, they're just not very evil...yet! Thanks for these kind words Amanda. XX Louy

So, I finally found that pocket of time I told you I've been looking for. I had already reviewed chapter one eons ago when I featured this story, but a lot has changed since then -- not the least of which my administrative powers -- and I had to re-read that chapter to full appreciate this one. First, I have to tell you how utterly impressed I am with your research and the way you're weaving Sandman in with our boys. I have a passing understanding of Gaiman in that I'm vaguely familiar with who/what he is. So, unfortunately, a lot of the significance of the references I'm taking simply at face value. But that in and of itself is great because the way you are layering the story and applying the similarities is so well done. Okay, slightly random, but in that line of thinking you so far outshine me I'm not even a glimmer. I have recently thought of doing this for real -- of stop saying "maybe someday" and start saying "now." But then I read the level of reseach and thought here and think that there's no way... ANYWAY, sorry. I loved this line from Bobby: "The world ain’t divided down the middle between those who see and those who don’t..." I'm so there in that gray area between doubt and belief in so much of my life. I love that Bobby pointed that out to Sam. Also? I really liked how you had Sam go to the most open space when he felt emotionally cornered. It's so opposite from what I need in that same situation that I found it intriguing. I just told Sojourner the other day that I was going to avoid speculative fics or tags for the finale because I didn't think I could handle them... but this just has a different feel. It's not speculative of what you think is going to happen. It's just taking and idea and going with it... Okay, I'm going to try to get another chapter in before I have to pick up the bambino. Gaelic
Author's Response: Amanda, you have NO idea how thrilled I am to hear your views on this story. It's the one I've worked on the hardest, and the one I loved writing more than any other so far. The research didn't feel like research as I was already a big Sandman fan and kind of new the mythology, but as far as you writing 'real' is concerned...I can't wait to see your name on a spine somewhere...lol I think you would do a fantastic job. Thanks for these kind words Amanda, still can't get the smile off my face when I look at a whole page of Gaelic reviews :) XX Louy

Damn- I knew I'd promised a review somewhere, I just couldn't find which story it was on. Well, found it now, so, less of the rambling...(maybe. If you're lucky.) This story was brilliant, so full of twists and plot 180's it made waiting for the next chapter pure torture. The imagery fitted so perfectly with the artwork in the Sandman books, as did the feeling that the lines between the good guys and the bad were so blurred it took until the very last chapter to see just what had been going on. You made me laugh, cry, run and hide (in the space of five minutes, at times!), and I know I'll be seeing that statue in my sleep for a long time - i think that was my favourite bit (DAMN hard to choose though!), the change from the yearning to the wistful, the malevolent to the pained was a beautiful parallel to the rollarcoaster ride of hope and despair you took us on. I can't wait for the sequel, hun, this rocked, and knowing the way you right, it'll only get better... Fantastic job!
Author's Response: Cal, thank you so much for this awesome review...and I've just sent the first chapter of the sequel for beta, hope to post it as soon as 'Eye for an Eye' is complete....and I hope you'll enjoy that one just as much...Thanks again mate, you've brightened my day XXX Louy

Thanks so much for a great story - Just read it all in one go and couldn't put it down until I'd finished it. I am really looking forward to the sequel. My thanks too, to the manufacturers of economy-sized boxes of tissues, without which I would not have been able to read the last chapter and still keep my sleeves dry.
Author's Response: WOW, meh...you are a trooper to tackle this all in one go, I'm most impressed, and thanks for the lovely review and stars. It means the world to me that you are looking forward to the sequel, and it won't be long at all...XXX Louy

A very intriguing tale of 'the Endless' and the Sigil of Dreams. There's been so much action and so much mysticism. Last chapter! I have so many questions.
Author's Response: Well I hope the last chapter answers a few...but only a few. Have saved the biggies for the sequel...and I really hope you enjoy that as much. Thanks again for a great review Shannon. XX Louy

I love that Bobby calls Sam and Dean his boys!!!! "Dean opened his mouth to complain...but then Bobby turned the key and the car surged to life and... was that a 383 cu." Dean's still in there somewhere in the fog. I'm so glad you ended this chapter with a laugh!

*whew!* That was a close call in the museum! You had me nervous! Since I see there are several chapters left (I don't know how I missed so many) I'm guessing all is not hunky-dorey in Winchesterland. Good---more excitement to come!
Author's Response: Thanks Shannon, and you are so right...but then when is it ever 'hunky-dory in Winchesterland' (what a great phrase) Thanks for the review...XX Louy

Hungover Sam is a delight, trying so hard for normal but haunted by the imminent deals due date. It is heartbreaking to see Dean so terrified of what is to come, yet almost more afraid of Sam seeing past his game face. You have portrayed so well the fears lurking behind the walls that are ever closer to crumbling. The museum sounds awesome.
Author's Response: Thanks for this lovely and thoughtful review Jane, and I'm glad it wasn't too dark...I'm very big on 'hope' and now I'm just starting the sequel, which focuses on the deal itself, it's proving quite a challenge to try and get the balance right...so thanks very much for this and I hope you continue to enjoy. great chapter Louy. Awesome story. Though why stop and do a sequel, you could have carry on the story with a new chapter... tomorrow! Anyway, one of the best read i had lately, and i'm gonna be here for the next one, be sure of that.
Author's Response: Hehehe, I would love to, but going to finish 'Eye' and 'Rapture' first...but the sequel is well underway and I'm planning on having the whole thing written before posting so I don't make readers wait. But not sure I'll have the patience, so well see...lol Thanks for the great review fredo, and I hope you enjoy the next one too.XX Louy

There was no bouncing back from this one and it wasn’t just physical injury that ailed these boys. They were soul sick. - Guh, I love Bobby and the relationship you've carved out here between him and the boys is everything I could ever want to read. Love that this chapter was mainly done from his point of view. 1969 Plymouth Fury - Bitchin' Car, Dude. Seriously good choice ;) I love the idea that David's family is a keeper of secrets, I'm pretty sure the only secret my family has passed down through the generations is a really good spaghetti sauce ;) not sure that's in the same league as the museum... Loved this chapter, love this story, you've made my morning coffee and muffin even better, - Kel
Author's Response: The Plymouth Fury...oh yeah...now were talking...lol I'm real glad you like David because he's going to be making a come back in the next one which is well on the way...lol Thanks for the great review and the rating Kel, and I'm glad you had a good breakfast..hehe XX Louy

LouLou. I know I've said all this at length Lou, when I've had the priveledge of reading this in advance of each posting, but i think this is a superbe piece of work. It's wonderfully evocative, both of despair, grief and loneliness but also of love and hope. The emotions are achingly beautiful but are expressed in an elegant and restrained manner so they are never overly sentimental or 'un-Winchester'. Yet the words are powerful enough to reduce me to tears (frequently!) having snuck a peep at your reviews (yup me so slutty that i bask in the pleasure of others as well as my own!) I agree with other readers that the end sequence with Sam's gift of the movie Constantine is a lovely rounding up of the central themes of the story and is also a very sweet human touch that grounds us back to the overwhelming love the boys have for each other. I conclude (thank god she says already having way too many snot stained pages of me rambling on about Dream!) by saying i think its a gem of a piece and i salute your fine fine writing and that I hate you with a fierce passion because you are way too talented for your own good! BIATCH! Love and snogs Baby Bhuddie xxxx
Author's Response: Bev...I don't know what to say mate. Thank you for all the support on this one, the constant willingness to beta and throw ideas around...as well as continuous encouragement...I can safely say this story wouldn't have been done without you.
